<DIV>I have just started playing my ranger again here lately, he was lvl 25 once I came back to lvl him up. I have noticed that he doesn't seem to fair as well dps wise as he once did say about 2 months ago. My question is has something happened to the ranger class that I am unaware of? I was having a great time with him two months ago, but now when i am in groups the other members ask me " when are you going to cut that dps loose?". Humm, is all I can say at this point. I know that I don't have the best gear atm, and all ca's are app I except maybe two are master II. Also I understand that I may not be playing this class the way a ranger is to be played and I need some help. My friend has a lvl 58 Assassin that I group with ninety five percent of the time and I base my ranger play some from watching him play the assassin. I would enjoy hearing from anyone who is a seasoned ranger throw some info my way plz. I always want to be a benefit to all who group with me. Thanks.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Aull on <span class=date_text>12-16-2006</span> <span class=time_text>08:20 AM</span>

Things havent changed much except for resists.. Without the higher quality your going to find that your CA's are going to be resisted or dodged more frequently.. This however is a minor change in most us, maybe  it hits you harder than it hits us because we already have a 95% accuratcy rating..My advice to you, use your debuffs and snares when you can so when you use that trippleshot every one of them is going to hit - or atleast be much more likely to hit.</div>

<DIV>I'd second all of the above.  You need to upgrade those CAs as often as possible.  At the very least, make sure you've purchased APP IV skills off of the broker (or had a friendly jeweler make you some).  Then, when you have enough coin make sure your most damaging CAs are Adept 1.  Keep hunting for rare loams and you can get some adept 3s made.  Masters, other than the free Master IIs you get, are fairly expensive, and I wouldn't worry to much about getting them until you approach the 50's and 60's, unless one falls in your lap of course.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Regarding gear, I would focus on finding rares to get mastercrafted chain of the tier you are in, and mastercrafted weapons of the same.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>At 25, look to get the bow Stormfire by doing the quests for Valinhayle in Stormhold.  This will last you a while.  Also look to get the Polished Granite Tomahawk by doing the heritage quest of the same name.  Need to know the giant language to get it started.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>At 40, you will probably want to get a mastercrafted imbued cedar bow (cedar is the rare harvest of that level), followed by an ironwood one at 50.  Also, at this point you can get the Short Sword of Ykesha by doing the Operation Green Hood heritage quest in Zek, and the Serrated Dirk heritage quest from the guy in Enchanted Lands.</DIV>

till you hit t6 (level 50) you should be ok with app4/adept 1s and ocasional adept 3 on some spells, than at this level you really need to start getting adept 3s to almost every spell... and this is a lot of harvesting, sell rares you dont need and hoard rares for equipment/spells and buy those from cash you earned by selling those and loot you dont needYour equipemnt at lower levels would be sufficent if you have handrafted with odd mastercrafted here and there, at 52 you should get entire set of mastercrafted including jewelery (dont forget about those)...((this could be told about every class though))What is diffrent is combat tactics, its not enough to just stay in one place fire few shots and melee the rest its suicidal. You must move, try to keep mobs on distance, root/snare fire few shots (range do much more dmg that just melee) and you dont get hit a lot. With proper tactics you can take ^^^ mobs or a big bunch (4-5) of ^Further in line is that you must chose and start fight not just get jumped by mob, yes its possible to kill mob that jumps you but it is a lot more difficult as combat is than much longer you get hit more often and you cant heal yourself so it may be close call. Start with heavy hitters (voiled fire predecesor) than tripple shot (tripple voley predecesor)  and snareing shot than run a little rise and repeat. Also learn to use terrain at your advantage, small dungeons arent very good for this, they crawling with mobs and you cant run in circles. This gets better at higher levels when you get thorny trap spell and when you get Rain Caller bow and our not so very good at fight but good at distracting add Hawk Dive spell... so you just need to survive lower levels, we all managed so you can too<img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>
