10 Int won't make alot of difference, but either will 6 points of strength :smileytongue:

So there is really no advantage to either,

I generally try to get whatever has the most mit and then look for things in this order: 1. Str 2. Agi 3. Health 4. Power 5. Sta 6. Resists 7. + to ranged or pierce 8. Int 9. Wis My int is really low, but I don't worry about it because I hardly ever use poisons. I know, I know, lots of you are dropping your jaws and saying "you're really shorting yourself on DPS" but the way I look at it, unless I am specifically going to do something (i.e. raid or group for a specific instance / zone) where I know my poisons will be useful, I won't use them. They are just another money sink for me and the fact that they last for 12 hours doesn't mean anything since I can go through 200 charges in less than an hour on a raid. Most people at my level in PvP have decent resists anyway, so it's really pointless to use them in PvP, although I do it sometimes anyway just to see if there's a difference. High mit is good in case I get aggro (which rarely happens because I don't overdo it unless the tank says to go all out). Also, I often find that I am used as a puller when our group doesn't want to pull every mob or we run into a particularly difficult situation. For example, last night we were in Valdoon's and got wiped on the first mob that spawns the fire in the hallway. I ended up having to run into the fire while the templar healed from the hall and pull the named and then run back out, and thanks to some great healing and decent mitigation, neither the fire nor the mob killed me. I haven't heard of anyone else being able to finish Valdoon's after getting wiped, but that's just one of the things that we rangers can do if we keep our heads and use our skills the best we can.

Message Edited by Taekwondo on 12-05-2006 04:55 PM

You usually know where most of the action is because people are constantly shouting in zone or over chat channels to talk about this raid or that and where they are. I don't know how you play, but I used to have a lot of downtime (not so much anymore since I joined this new guild, so things will probably change), so there wasn't really any point to ALWAYS have my poisons up. And yeah, ok, perhaps I am off on the time it takes me to go through them, big deal. I said I didn't use them much and when I HAVE used them, I was in an instance and usually checking the poison buffs often to see how much was left and not necessarily seeing how long it took me to use them. I know that I could easily burn through them in one tables run though, and now that I think about it, we were doing tables in about 10-12 minutes, so I guess you're right.

The other thing about PvP is that most (and I mean 99%) of the freeporters I have encountered will run away unless they have some kind of advantage. So, if I am out and see a solo guy and he's running, then I'll try to snare him and burn him down. Poisons might help, or they might be resisted, either way I'll usually win if the guy is running from me. MOST OF THE TIME, they don't run because they are just baiting you to attack them so the x3 raid can come charging over the hill and splat you. Why would they need to bait me? Because with the change in Evac, I can only Evac if I did not make any combat actions. They can attack the crap outta me, but I unless I attack back (and this includes armor procs that heal or do damage AND ripostes) then I can still Evac. So, what's the point in using a poison on the off-chance that I'll find that one guy that happens to be truly solo that I can take down? I have only seen two in the last week like that and I got both of them last night without using poisons. I probably will start using them more though, it can't hurt (well, not me anyway) right? lol

I can't remember and I won't be on for a couple days to test it out. But yeah, you're right about that, I'm just stubborn sometimes and I didn't even know I could use poisons until I was around 45ish anyway. And THEN it didn't occur to me that I could stack them until 55ish lol. And not that I RP my ranger, but I always kinda felt dirty about using poisons after I found out that I could. It kind of cheapened things for me I guess, made me feel like a filthy assassin hehe Anyway, thanks for talking sense into me :smileywink: I'll pick up some poisons this weekend and find the ones I like the best.

Timer poison only counts while online...Only time I've wasted it is while crafting, and I HOPE I make enough to offset the loss
