the key word there is SPELLS. you use combat arts so its useless to you.

Our poisons count as spells for the purposes of these effects (and spell crits), although they do not proc 'on hostile spell' procs.Don't be too quick to call it 'useless.'  The Steamfont quested robe is a good starter robe before you get your deity cloak, and it adds 25 to every poison hit.  Not amazing, but not useless, either.<div></div>

<P>food for thought.</P> <P>Although we are a melee (physical) dmg based class (as opposed to spell dmg), we do have 3 CAs that in the game mechanics are considered spell dmg.  All our heat based attacks, 57 Shocking Thrust, 58 Preice Shot, and 63 Emberstrike are considered spell attacks ... at least when you fight mobs that are immune to physical/melee dmg ... and it really shows in a parse compared with other melee classes.</P> <P>However, i'm not sure either way if items that add additional spell dmg to spell based CA's will work on the 3 listed above.   Something to test it out.   There's a few items (and adornements) that add spell dmg, so i'd be interested to know whether or not we benefit from these. (even if the benefit is limited to 3 CAs)   </P> <P>Poisons are also considered spell based in terms of combat mechanics ... but, they are also proc based dmg ... so i'm not really sure if your item in question (and others like it) would add dmg to our poisons.  Again, worth testing.</P> <P> </P> <P> </P> <P> </P> <P> </P>

ok thanks mescaline =)  What about the haste cloak? does haste increase Ranged auto attack rate as well?

<DIV>Yes it does... if you don't have any other haste items.  Haste items do not stack, but adornments (at least atm) do.  So if you are wearing any haste items, the only benefit you'd get would be a +5 to crush, pierce, and slash.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

yea i was aware of them not stacking, however the only haste item im wearing atm is nemesis bracers so the 10% would be a small increase for me.  Cant go wrong then, i twas a tossup between that and the FT2/regen2 cloak for me.

I PMed a Dev about this very matter and in his own words "poison proc is instant cast so wont get any benefit." If you are getting it, then it might not be intended and therefor might not last. I asked him because Serpentine Ornament adornments give +to poison DMG spells and they are currently usable on DW weapons and Bows. In beta they *definately* gave their bonus to poison procs, in live I haven't bean able to tell but it doesn't seem to (will test tonight). The T7 ones give +45 to poison so if you got a "full set" it would add +135 to every caustic proc, if it works.

I'm sure because I tested it in game.  My poisons either crit or they don't (52% spell crit), and do a specific amount of damage each time. With the cloak that boosts spell damage by 25 on, they always did 25 points of damage more than when I removed the cloak.I barely trust half the things the devs say at this point, and I can agree with you that basing any large decisions on mechanics that can change in the future is a stupid idea. Then again, the quest for this cloak takes about 5 minutes at level 70. <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

<DIV>Nice feedback Mezca, thanks.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Starness's info is also interesting, so 1 to keep watch on.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Dancerfe,  haste and dps buffs ONLY affect auto-attacks (not CAs) for both melee and ranged, for all classes.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>The Adds X poison damage adornments you can get for symbols *are* still useable on bows and DW weapons (I think they're flagged to be useable on anything you can put in your secondary or ranged slot), and *do* add their damage (the whole number listed) to poison procs. Craziness. I guess people who have the money to burn to get these things (and risk having them nerfed) can get an additional 135 dmg out of their poison procs (T7 +45 damage, so if you put it on 2 DWs and a bow that's +135). Not a risk I'll likely take... unless I win the gambling game. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>
