By the time you are in your 30's, that ratio will be reversed. It gets much better...almost to the point of feeling like a different class it is so very different.

I just got 28 and start to realize this truth. However, even tho I have Makeshift arrows on Master II it kinda annoys me that I play
the only class whose basic attack style needs to buy arrows all the time. I had hoped we have some kind of "quiver of endless
bows" for basic dmg arrows and did only need to buy for special things. Kinda annoying. Especially when right in the middle of
a battle my 99 arrows are delpeted and I have to set them back in.

No other class has that difficulty with it's standart attack.

Unfortunately, it is not until you get to t7 (and raiding) will you get a CHANCE at a ammo producing bow. This issue I believe does need to be addressed. Unfortunately it has been an issue for some time, but we have not really got any resolution. We do have summon arrows ability, but it falls way short. The only thing I can suggest to you is to keep summoning them EVERY 10 min... when you are chatting with friends, tradeskilling, looking on the broker, or whatever. This can actually minimize your costs a bit. I remember having to carry 3200 arrows (a full rosewood strongbox) of back up arrows aside from my quiver. Be consistent at pressing the button to summon arrows. If you have extra, still press the button... you can put them in the bank if you need to.

You mentioned 99 arrows at a time... did you know that you can use a quiver? Unless they have changed it, you can use any level quiver. So, buy the biggest quiver you can afford. It will be well worth your time and money.

If it is any consolation, having the ammo summoning bow is really nice and something to look forward to. I never even come close to running out of ammo... partly because I got into the habit of summoning arrows every time it was available. The devs have stated numerous times and in several different places that endless quiver isn't going to happen. I think these ammo summoning bows are their compromise. IMO it falls short for all but a very select few, but that is what we have available atm.

The arrow consumption issue has been a thorn in our sides for a long, long time. Devs have said they're looking into it, and maybe they are, but... no sign of any changes.

IMO, one of three things needs to happen:

1. The base recast for ALL summon arrows spells is reduced significantly,

2. The total amount of arrows summoned by these spells is increased significantly, or

3. Vendor-bought arrows are made much more affordable and accessible.

I'd prefer number 1 and/or 2, simply because this is a ranger-specific problem, so it should have a ranger-specific solution. I know you can cut the recast timer for summon arrows in half using AA points, but that should be a way to customize your character beyond the norm, not an optional fix for a problem that almost all rangers eventually face. Forcing us to spend Achievement points to correct an issue with the class is not an acceptable "fix."

Like others have mentioned, I fail to see how increasing rangers' access to summoned, non-tradeable arrows could unbalance any aspect of the game. It's a time- and money-sink that only rangers face, so how could alleviating that problem affect any other class? We're not asking for any kind of advantage over another class, just some way to ameliorate the unique disadvantage we're forced to accept to play a ranger.

It's possible to buy any tier quiver at any level, so buy the T6 - 20 slot or T7 quivers. If thats too expensive, try buying the rare first, then have a tailor make the quiver. Any ranger should generally not have a problem with arrow supply until they start raiding.

I just discovered the new Reclaimed Arrows tree in the Ranger Achievements, and each point lowers the recast by 1 minute, so at max you can make arrows every 5 mintues instead of every 10, at Adept III (which is where I am) I make 45 arrows each time. If you can find the master, it makes 60 each time. It has been a huge advantage for me, as I raid 3-5 days a week. It may not be the ultimate answer the Dev's have been working on, but its definately better than nothing.

Plus, if you are a raiding ranger why would you take away from your DPS to get more arrows. Giving us in-game options to fix an obvious game design flaw is lazy coding.

The ammo cost in this game is nothing in comparison. IN FFXI you could easily spend a week farming for enough money to buy arrows for a 5 hour party session. Granted the arrows and bolts(for crossbows) and bullets (for guns) would also have status effects built into them ie slow, DoT, various debuffs or could be elemental based (fire, ice, light, etc), some would also give stat boosts while you had them equipped (+str, +dex(agi)).

I dunno maybe having played like that for years, I came in expecting a HUGE ammo cost so if nothing else im pleasently surprised.

Besides, you could always level up a woodworker

And bentgate, just because you dont like a mechanic of a game, doesn't mean it's broken.
