<DIV>I would like to extend a warm welcome to all you Rangers! I have returned after some time away from online games. So here I am, finishing my patching so that I can get in and play again. However, Im not so sure I want to continue my current characters. Pally is my main (at level 3<img src="/smilies/b2eb59423fbf5fa39342041237025880.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />, followed by a monk and conjy (both level 20 and 21 respectively). Heres what Im looking for:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1. Soloability - From what I can see Rangers can hold there own with solo and grps of two. Is that a fair assessment?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2. Fun Class - Something not so overly complex its mind boggling but still challenging at the same time.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>3. Group oriented - Since I do plan on actually doing a little grouping this go round. =)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thats the main points I can think of at the moment. I am pretty much a casual player. I work and have kids so playing will be on days off and on nights, specially after the rug rats are asleep. Thanks for any help in advance! </DIV>

<DIV>Hi! and welcome back.... they always come back...err yeah your questions.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1. Soloability - Ranger solo takes abit of work, and you dont really come into your own untill mid 20s / early 30s. Untill then you have too few bow attacks and your standard melee CA. Not to say it cant be done, i play a ranger as my main and soloing is too hard. I see you have a Conj and a Monk. Conj are very well built for soloing, im not too sure about monks now due to EoF avoidance / Mitigation revamp. A conj can upgrade his pet spell and solo very well, where as a ranger would need gear, CAs, and a little bit of luck :smileywink: so its abit more expensive.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2. Fun Class - I dont wanna stay rangers are complex, but they aren't easy either. Probably one of the harder scouts to play. So yeah, its a challenge but not brain busting.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>3. Group oriented - Rangers have no group utility to speak of. Aside from pathfinding (which every scout gets) thats it. Your main roll is damage output and not getting aggro. Aim for those two and you will do just fine in a group :smileyhappy:.</DIV>

I have a slightly different take <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />1) Soloability - As long as you have a little room, and don't need to worry about adds, soloing is easy. I'm not talking kiting room, but enough to do your stuns/roots take a step back and launch a range CA. Forget about soloing heroics for the most part.2) Fun Class - The funnest. Once you get in 'the groove' it takes very little thought. You have to plan a little and get used to your abilities, but we are fun and challenging...3) Group Oriented - This is where are DPS shines. We can usually just keep the tank targetted and go all out DPS. No we have no group fluff, but with poisons and deagro we are nothing BUT beneficial...<div></div>

Thanks for the replies all! I have made a woodelf Ranger. Started in Kelethin. Im looking forward to some good fun. New zone to look at, different quests, ect. I cant wait to get to the meat and potatoes of this class. I love the armor and bows I have seen in pics on this forum. That combined with the coolest sounding class in the game has to have its merits. Besides, Im not wanting to be urber here, just want to have fun. :smileyhappy:

If you are soloing solo mobs (mobs meant to be solo'd) Rangers own after level 30. We can mow down solo mobs befiore they even get to us. If you want to solo heroic mobs (as one poster I thiunk was referring too) then we dont do that<img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />. Use a conj or brawler for soloing heroic mobs.2. Very fun3. We own in groups. Our group DPS is one of the highest because we have great de-aggro allowing us to spam all of our attacks in the 20 seconds that group battles last.</div>
