Does anyone know how to kill the Guardian Dragon at the end of the third solo trial, none of my arrows, not even Sniper Shot Adept 3 will hardly dent it, does 1950dmg which is way below what it should do even with a boost from Master II Focus Aim, can stun it with Thorny Trap Adpt 3 ... and it stands there, while i throw every Adept 3 Arrow i have, which is all of them, but nothing damages him, I know he deals divine damage so have my resists as maxed as i can on that, and my armour is mix of Xeg and Leather, and no it doenst help having all Zeg.... the figures stand up that the mix is better, makes a stronger more powerful attack because of the increase AGI from the leather, but thats not my argument, and neither is it the cause. The question is why dont the arrows make any damage?? my plan of attack is this: Set up thorny trap Focus Aim, then Sniper Shot, (should have achieved a fair amount of damage but doenst) He runs into trap, Fire off Storm of Arrows Adpt 3 (should be stillsome significant damage, but not a scratch) continue firing eveyrthing i have until trap breaks. During continued arrows being fired, no damage to him whatsoever still. Up close combat, he succumbs more to melee sword damage and all those little ones... I have them all on Adept 3 or Masters. I have two AA CA's Bladed Opening Adept IV and Point Blank Shot at Adept IV too, Im as maxed as i can be, but still i am no where near defeating this thing, which is a little annoying when a lvl 65 Illusionist managed it. I am using makeshift arrows which have worked easily on the other mobs in this particular trial, so presume they should work for him, meanwhile, while waiting for any answers to this post, im going to buy some Bodkin Arrows.. whatever they are, or please can anyone suggest ... errm.. anything, advice would be gratefully recieved...... Thanks.

hmm been such a long time. but i am right in saying this is the one where you put on the dragon suit thats on the clicky dragon bust. I had no problems whatsoever infact i recall meleeling it stun run back rain of arrows stun run back etc . However this is after EoF release so maybe the mobs one of the KoS mobs thats just that bit too tough.

I agree with Monokee. I had no trouble, and your setup seems fine. Maybe it's the new changes, and maybe he didn't get the nerf the rest of us did...

Not sure what your issue might be, it sounds like you're doing fine, but I have to say, melee got me killed when I tried it. Kite, kite, and kite some more. Keep moving, keep him snared. Worked for me...

I melee'd practically the entire trial at lvl 70. Fought the entire thing in the red because I didn't know what to expect. Heal potions FTW!

I thought for sure I was going to fail, but never got below 3%. I don't know what to tell you.

As has been said some KoS mobs didn't get properly nerfed and as a result the lowering of all stats on armor/weapons will unbalance game play. I did this trial last week and didn't fall below yellow at any point. I used a mix of tactics cuz it was just to unwieldily to kite in that dragon form so it was stun/back up a bit fire off ranged/melee, stun/ lather rinse repeat. Also if you're not using them grab a short stack of grandmaster's stupefying poison as it will help greatly. Your gear seems ok as do spell levels, I suspect that you may want to file a bug report as the devs have said they are still monitoring mob conditions in KoS zones for any remaining imbalances. So far as sniper shot goes, I think you may have just caught an unlucky roll of the virtual dice. I opened with focus aim/killing instinct/sniper then rain of arrows which took him down quite a bit. Make sure you throw the hawk at him when your stealth requiring spells are refreshing.Edited to add: Since it can be a longish fight I suggest grandmaster's hemotoxin and, if you can afford it snag a bottle of grandmaster's elixir of tactics as well.
Message Edited by Mronin on 11-17-2006 09:04 AM
Message Edited by Mronin on 11-17-2006 09:06 AM

I tried it today THREE times... he doesnt take a stun long enough as usual to jump back and fire arrows..... to me he is lvl 71 with two up arrows, im lvl 67 now...i can usually stun anything have time to jump behind and deliver longblade and tanglefire.. and then jump back again and get the odd arrow off.. but for some reason he is on top of me al the time...I can manage the other mobs in the solo trial no problems.. with hardly any damage taken to myself... but this Guardian is really something strange... my Sniper Shot adpt 3 does nothing..... ive got amazing DPS but it doesnt seem to count for anything.....I have an avoidance of 62% .... I realy cant figure this.

I did it a week ago (so before EOF) at level 67, the entire trial was quite easy except for the nammed which was undoable in close combat. But by using snare, a stunning poison, a few CA and backpeddling all around the room I finally succeeded (with a comfortable margin : I was in yellow at the end). In the same times some of my guildies who were all 70 (and no big dps or great solo class) said it was piece of cake and that they took him down on auto attack. I think its a matter of level in fact, if you wait a little and try it with one or two more levels you will probably find it very easy. Anyway I can tell you that it is doable by a standart 67 ranger with a mix of legendary and treasured gear

I cannot understand what happens, but our 70 ranger could not do anything about him, but I, as a 70 wizard burned him easily WITHOUT even rooting him (yes, yes, I have paper armor and I was fighting him toe to toe AND my health bar was all green). Why, rangers have better mitigation and he still kills you? Maybe the quest or zone is just broken for you? Try talking a GM into helping you to figure it out.

He told me he had 15k health (I had 25k at the time of doing it, maybe a week earlier)

So I guess he got SOME buff on him, obviously.

Rain Caler bow plus snare poisons than use your snares like crazy, dont come close to him to melee (unless you feel suicidal) keep range all the time and fire fire and than fire your arrows... its extremally easy that way, but some rangers are used to stunning mob and close combat him bad idea really here.

Same tactics you use in marr final trial, snares + stuns and ranged fire
