<DIV>if your using any form of a mount (horse, carpet, flying disk) you'll move to a crawl if you attempt to move backwards ... but, if your on your feet, moving backwards seemed to be at the normal pace.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I dont like it ... but, just another change to adjust to.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Yes it happens with any mount.<div></div>

<P>Nope. Just have to click the mount off if you get into combat.</P> <P> </P> <P>Probably annoying for those who wish to kite, although I haven't tried it with the new change. I never go straight back kiting, but instead make a wide sideways circle, so maybe that will still be possible. It's very rare that I bother kiting, though. Solo mobs don't need it. Our stun and root are plenty to take those down easily.</P>

<DIV>So dismount if you plan to fight where you have to kite...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Another bad side I see to this is it taking longer for a tank to pull and get a mob properly positioned.  Lots more chance of catching a frontal AE since he wont be able to backpedal against a wall as quickly.</DIV> <DIV>Also, kiting just got a whole lot tougher.  Snaring shot will be in order as my second attack, otherwise a mob will just run me down even with pathfinding up</DIV>

<P>/DOH</P> <P>I didn't think to see if it was the same on or off my horse.  If the stupid movement penalty is only for when your on a mount that is simple enough to get around.  I'll just have to start remembering to click off my horse before I fight anything from now on.  I still find it annoying though.</P> <P> </P>

It is *only* on a mount. Off the mount, I move in any direction just fine.

<DIV>In spite of the added realism from this change (when was the last time you saw a horse run backward at full speed other than in this game?) I dislike the nerfing of any item on which I had to spend 15 or so plat. </DIV>

<DIV>What this has affectively done is put a lot more emphasis fighting on foot, so the benefits from the AA ranks (both KoS and EoF) where you can gain increased run speed become a lot more important.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>It really sucks for us PvP rangers, as kiting is our only way of killing some of the tougher classes.  I use lunge a TON in PvP and run back to get some space, allowing auto-attack to get a hit in sometimes.  Now I'll have to turn around to put the space between us, and turn back around to continue damage.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>EDIT: You usually don't have enough reaction time in PvP to hop off your mount before you start the fight.  Valuable time!</DIV><p>Message Edited by Fonrian on <span class=date_text>11-15-2006</span> <span class=time_text>03:26 PM</span>

I would assume this is the same in PvP but in PvE mount speed buffs suspend (or used to) in combat. Just dismount your horse before attacking some thing or some one you need to kite. :smileyvery-happy:

<P>Dunno what problem you kiters have. If you engaged in combat on a mount, the run speed benefit was suspended anyway, so you had the same speed like on foot.</P> <P>As for having to get off to fight: Wow, must be hell of a pain, lol. :smileyvery-happy: When you go mob hunting it's not like you kill one mob, then hike 5 miles to the next mob. Moving 10 meters to the next pull will take 1 second on foot and 0.75 seconds on a mount. So not much time wasted if you have to do the mob hunting on foot now. Mounts are status items and transport. You don't take a car to your neighbour 20 meters down the street. Unless you're a lazy git :smileytongue:</P> <P>Must be real hard to not be able to sit on the horse 24/7 anymore. Cry me a river...</P>
