<DIV>Hello fellow Rangers,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I recently started raiding with my guild and have done pretty well with my parsing..well, so I thought. I was consistantly making the top 5, but not the numbers I have seen posted here. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Then one raid a fellow Ranger came along and was punishing me into submission with his DPS. He had significanly less gear than I and said he had very few masters.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I am level 70 Ranger, Relic'd out with the Wurm Destroyer Bow, Windrazor, and Absolution. All of my ranged CA's are Master or Adept 3. I am going AGI and STR on my AA's. I use Hemotoxin, Gracellessness, and Tugur for poisons.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Maybe it's the way I am using my CA's...or must be...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have read a thread that said they go into Stealth...to Focus Aim..to Selection..to Rain of Arrows.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What are the best combo's you use out there? For long and or short fights. What do I want in my raid group for buffs?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I know this is a ton, but thanks for the help all.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Good Hunting,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thatch</DIV> <DIV>70 Ranger</DIV> <DIV>Guk</DIV><p>Message Edited by Excellsior on <span class=date_text>11-14-2006</span> <span class=time_text>08:22 AM</span>

<P>The combos are important and there are a couple of threads on that subject. But first, lets start wiht the basics. Group make up has a significant effect on your DPS. When fully buffed, what was your STR, INT, increased haste %, and increased DPS %? Now bear in mind, all our stat modifiers change today, so any advice you get on this will already be dated. But it's a good place to start.</P> <P>Remember that difference between AD3 and M1 is only about 15%. So you may be looking at only 100-200 DPS difference between the two depending on the overall DPS of the raid. The real difference comes from your stat modifiers and if the two of you were in different groups, he may very well had much better offensive stats than you even though you have better gear.</P> <P>Before today (STR = 510 and INT = 400) yeilds much greater DPS than (STR = 700 and INT = 65). Won't know how the changes to stats affect us until we get in the mix and try them out.</P>

<P>The AEfest combo was me. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> That's a great one for groups of mobs, since you'll hit everything, hard, hopefully crit and proc for as many as you can. I think I capped out at around 3.7K DPS on the DT worms. That was with starting out in stealth, then Focus Aim - Selection - Rain of Arrows. I did have Pally and Inquis proc buffs on me for that, as well as poison.</P> <P>If you're raiding, I've found that Grandmasters Caustic poison gives a better DPS figure than Hemotoxin, so make friendly with an Alchemist and get him to keep you supplied with that. Debuff poisons I usually try and co-ordinate with the other raid scouts, so we all run something different.</P> <P>If you can get any of the following in your group, it'll help too: Paladin, Shadowknight, Inquisitor, Coercer, Conjuror, Dirge. All of these can either boost your DPS mod or give you a proc that works off ranged attacks.</P> <P>Auto attack... Can't stress enough how important this is to us now. Admittedly to get the absolute most out of it you will need two fabled bows; one to keep you in T8 ammo (Ichorstrand or Baz'kul, both rare drops from DT) and one to actually use (Ancestral Sarnak, rare drop from Venekor in HoS). This is the point at which most Rangers get irate... Obtaining any of those bows is a struggle, and getting both sometimes nigh impossible. But I digress. Auto attack with this setup will hit for around 5K a go, so you let that go off, hit a couple of CAs, let auto attack go again, then a few more CAs... If you time it right and are sitting in the now legendary sweet spot where you can use melee CAs as well, you should notice your DPS increase, and you'll never be out of attack options.</P> <P>We do seem to be highly dependant on both gear and group to get the mot out of our DPS. Otherwise it's just a matter of practice - finding out what works well for you personally.</P>

I agree totally with what Lesca says in the previous post. also i might add, instead of the str line, go the INT line. this will give you a chance to critical on 52% of your poisons and procs or any proc that is placed on you by someone in your group. There are plenty of items a ranger uses that give them str and not much that give Int, so if you were to just put 4 into the int starter your gaining about 28, not much but helps. I currently have 4/4/4/8 in INT. you also get a debuff with that line if you use a dagger in primary that decreases poison resist. on raids, with caustic i'm hitting for like critical 1500's which is a very nice proc imo.<div></div>

oh also, i carry those grandmaster int or str potions that increase 1 or the other stat by 66 for 30min. this helps me fill in gaps depending on where i'm lacking. If i am in a group situation where my str is low, i throw that on, or vice versa, if i'm maxed on str, then i throw on the int potion. During a raid, you may go through about 5-6 of em, but that's only like 15g from the broker on my server. remember though, you can only use 1 at a time, they dont stack.<div></div>
<DIV>Well i do have T8 ammo but not an exceptional bow i mainly use Griz bow or Wurm bow but i can parse up there with the best of em.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>TBH go solo a green or blue con mob and use Grandmaster's stupyfying poison run backwards just on auto attack with Grandmaster's caustic poison and look in a seperate tab window at your hits. You'll be suprised i can crit for 3k sometimes out of grp that big dmg of auto, for a wurm or griz bow admitedly T8 ammo helps i know with Venekor bow and Corruption some peeps have crit hit for 8.5k in raids.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Everyone plays there ranger slightly different our other ranger out dps's me by about 200 sometimes however he has a high DR rating bow and a belt that procs alot more as well. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But the way i play is this when raiding, on a mob i normally haste myself if its up althought in raid setups i'm normally at 100% and i just auto attack for maybe 3 attacks as you'll still crit for 2K+ hopefully(use grandmasters elixir of tactics) by this time all the debuffs have landed on mob from brig swashy etc so i'll use focus aim hit off as many CA's in the 10's i have mainly rain of arrows Tripple volley Devitalizing Confounding and Amazing if i'm real quick. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Then i just carry on using whatever CA's come up if i know Focus is due back up i'll avoid using the big hitters so i'll probably stealth and use veiled and selection as i don't normally use focus aim with the stealth attacks unless i want a crit hit with sniper shot as normally it breaks with stealth or u get an interupt. And then as soon as Focus aim comes up again i'll fire off as many big hitters as i can with the auto inbetween hitting for up to 5k.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> Some mobs you don't always get the luck of the draw that i'll admit. I think we as rangers have to work alot harder for our dps but burst on Focus aim then timing on Ca's seems to work well. With Auto inbetween you should be parsing in top 2 in my case top 3 as i'm just not as good as our other ranger.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Another tip is to get items that proc so velium shard proc's off attack for cold dmg sash of the sky procs off combat arts as well all these procs add up to good dmg in the end and i've found with the +int line and +agi aa lines you should see T1 dps most of the time.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Don't expect to fire off a few shots and be top or parse work for your dps get your attacks sorted so snaring shot and precise shot are common and fast attacks to use inbetween auto for me until focus comes back up i tend to use Culling of the weak as well before my little focus trio and if i'm lucky i'll get a 4th attack off. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And lastly set youtself a little tab menu or new tab menu got ot edit chatoption and remove all chat etc from that box go to combat and only have your procs and hits and you can see what works well and what doesnt, and whether your landing those hits.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>T8 ammo helps and i love it but its not like you gain HUGE amounts of dps form it , it more than likely just gaurentees mre hits. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>IF your parseing below a zerker or other classes apart from swashy assasin or rogue then ask to swap grps. I'm normally grp'd with a MOnk zerker Dirge Inqi's and Illusioinist and have good dps.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <P>Message Edited by mononoko on <SPAN class=date_text>11-14-2006</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>08:37 PM</SPAN></P> <P>Message Edited by mononoko on <SPAN class=date_text>11-14-2006</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>08:39 PM</SPAN></P><p>Message Edited by mononoko on <span class=date_text>11-14-2006</span> <span class=time_text>08:40 PM</span>
