Out of the people who have killed Veneker (sp?) how rare is the Sarnak War Bow. My guild is getting very close to killing this dragon and just curious what im looking at as a wait time. ATM ive been very lucky and have Ichostrand and Wurm Destroyer, but would imagine not only the DR increase on the war bow but the longer delay would proc poisons more often that I would see a nice dps increase.

In 4 months of clearing DT and HoS, we've had Bazkul (tarinax) drop once, Ichorstrand (drake) drop twice, and Ancestral  Sarnak Warbow NEVER drop.

I was lucky enough to have Ichorstrand drop on the first kill of the Drake. Not managed a Sarnak or Baz'kul yet though. But the T8 legendary ammo from Ichorstrand works in any bow, so yes. Sarnak with the viscid globs... Good thing.

I estimate the T8 ammo added 200 DPS give or take a few (but the really nice thing about it is the constant supply of decent quality ammo). Sirlutt, you are a little behind the times. I have made multiple posts retracting my opinion of Ranger DPS being too low since even getting the Ichorstrand ammo. Read around.I have gone so far as to say that if damage via CA's is increased, it could be that Rangers with the T8 ammo and the Venekor or Matron bows (looks real) could again extended their DPS beyond design intent.I believe I even posted agreement with you on one such thread just today - maybe you've not read it yet.Mirdo.<div></div>

Since you seem to be the one with all the answers, enlighten us.<hr></blockquote>I think I hit a nerve.  The most amusing part is apart from the childish half formed insults and general lack of imagination at the front of your post, your stating EXACTLY what my point is.  The weapons you need to do your best DPS are much harder to get than the weapons an Assassin needs.  No need to go into elaborate numbers and formulas based on casting times etc etc.  The answer and fix is right there.  Rangers with the right tools do comparative DPS.  The tools are just too [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] hard to get.  The statement you quoted was a question, because I think a number of Rangers would still claim that their DPS sucks even when given the tools that have been proven to put them on par with the other classes.Bottom line, you agree with me that the key to Happy Rangers making Happy Numbers on the parse is itemisation.  Not their CA's and such.  Itemisation would take care of fixing the problem where its worst, in the high end raiding game.</div>

I have the Sarnak bow, no T8 ammo yet.  Right now, I would say I'm within 100-200EXTDPS of our best assassin.  I think when I get that T8 ammo I would be equal to if not slightly edging out that assassin.  It is relatively easy to get two awesome dualwielders, you don't even need the luck of the drop, just do the claymore and wyrmslayer quests.  However we rangers have to rely on sheer luck of the drop and your dkp pool to get a comperable ranged weapon.  Therein is the percieved difference between the preds.  It's also a reason I havent bothered finsihing up the claymore quests, cause it drops everything except a bow.

I wouldnt say getting some of the most rare items in  the game as any kind of fix for ranger dps, let alone to get 2 of those rare drops to compete. Anyone who sees that as a fix in my opinion is ignoring the truth to the problem. I would hope to be equal with comparitive adepts and masters and that anyone who can be lucky enough to get some of the rare items would have the edge.

But therein lies the dilemma:If CA's are increased such that they take up the extra 200-400 dPS T8 ammo and Sarnak bow add, the players with those items break balance again. (Wide margin for T8 + Sarnak but I've not parsed enough raid zones to get it more exact than that and I've not seen anyone share that type of data on here).Right now, those items can be pointed and the statement can be made that 'a suitably equipped Ranger is competitive with most/all other DPS classes' with complete truthfulness. And this only my experience, there are probably Rangers out there who can make this bow sing compared to my feeble efforts.I agree, our DPS is not 'fixed' but it can be equally argued that it's never been broken. As I've posted before, if the CA's are to stay in their current state, bow itemisation needs improvement and more Rangers given access to the T8 ammo summoning items. Just access to the ammo would put many in a far happier place while retaining top DPS for raiders getting those bows from Tari/Vene. Maybe add a couple more longbows in the DR 93-100  range accesible to those that can't clear DT or kill Venekor, or even upgrade the Vinestrung.I really do hope some of these issues are addressed with EoF. That is THE most appropriate expansion to sort out our problems regarding bow diversity, availability and appropriate Tier ammunition supply. Mirdo. <div></div>

I just don't seem to be able to make is shine on short fights. The only other thing I can think of as a problem right now is that I might be sneaking inside 5m accidentally when using melee arts between autos. We just had our first Sarnak drop this past week. I gotta say, I love my guild, while I wasnt able to make that raid, everyone decided that it would be best in the hands of a ranger. All I can add is if you have the chance to pick up any of the higher end bows do so ASAP. I personally wont have one for a while as our guild is still working on being able to successfully raid DT.That being said, I do know that in talking to people on my server with the Samak/(insert which ever "T8" ammo summoning bow they happen to have here) combination have been extremely impressed. Even those with only one or the other though are still very impressed.
