Hi all. Just got my first good roll in the labs yesterday and got a piece of relic armor. I had to pay 2pp for the rose quartz and take an hour to get to the smith ( what a trek). The piece is nice and has 408 mitigation, but my blackscale pauldrons have 20 STR and the relic piece has no STR and 20 STA. Im wondering if its worth going after the rest of the relic set. Do they all ignore STR? Wonder what other feel that have mroe peices,is it worth the hassle of getting it?Thanks Buaf 70 Ranger Befallen

the shoulders, gloves, boots and hat all stink compared to what else is out there, IMO (the gloves and shoulders have no STR at all... the boots and hat aren't as horrible)the chest, legs, forearms are decent pieces for sure

Message Edited by Mescaline on 09-13-2006 09:52 AM

As above but the boot's aren't a total disaster :smileytongue:The abominable mantle from HoF isn't a bad item if you are still gearing up.Mirdo.

You can get STR cap pretty easily. The mitigation, resists, and STA are usually worth it although they don't seem flashy. When you start to get geared out, you'll have 600 STR easily (in raid) and be wishing for more stats to keep you alive.

That being said, there are some relic pieces which are better and some which are worse. On the worse ones, there's better alternatives in many cases. But even if you have an alternative, relic makes a good swap set for certain resists or miti. Being dead = 0 dps.

I sure wish more fabled gear for us had INT. It's pretty hard to get INT up there without killing some stat or resist. At least it seems that way to me, I don't really raid a lot with my Ranger anymore. Somebody might have a better opinion. Sure, being at 500 STR self-buffed seems cool but it's likely a waste in raid.

It all depends on the context. If you are a sometime raider and don't have much Fabled gear, sure, Relic drops are great. If you're hitting T7 raid zones several times each week, Relic gear will probably be a stepping stone, something to raid in while getting better drops. Either way, I wouldn't exactly avoid relic gear; in most cases it'll be better than Legendary stuff like the Darkscale Pauldrons.

And paying 2pp for any relic gem is insane. I've never paid more than 5g, but I've only had a few relic pieces and my guild puts all those gems in the bank anyway, so no need to purchase them.

The only ones that are worth it are the chest and the legs. The chest reduces recast on Triple Arrow by 14 secs i think. It also has +28 str +10 agi +10 wis +20 Sta. The leggings will reduce the recast time on Survelliance as well which is nice for de-aggro and going stealth.

After you have done the trek a couple of times it gets faster once you get used to the zone layout (assuming you are not allready familiar with SE). The 'porter inside SE to one of the lower level rooms speeds it up a lot. I think my last 2 runs only took 10-15 minutes each from buying the ticket in QH to getting to the armorer.

I'm not a ranger but the scout armor is similiar. When I have multiple pieces of good armor for the same slot I switch it around based upon what I'm doing, what the mobs are, what resists are needed and so on. Strength is easy to cap, more so on raids when your sitting at 700+ strength, swapping out a piece of gear that has strength on it for one that does not but has nice resists or a different stat is nice to be able to do.

What my guild also does is drop the gems needed for relic into a guild bank so people hopefully do not have to buy them. On Befallen some of the gems go for 12-40 gp (or more since you paid 2pp for 3 gems) easy so it's nice to be able to pool resources.

THIS shows both relic and nemesis which are really both pretty easy to get. You can compare which ones would suit you better.

This is just from a cosmetic stand point, but the relic shoulds do no funk with our cool looking hood like the darkscale pualdrons do... oh and they don't make you look silly. (wings on your shoulders looks silly)
