View Full Version : Arrow woes

Our alliance of guilds is finally getting into the swing of things and raiding 3-5 times a week. Now before I also had a healthy (5,000+) supply of arrows (Adamantine) Reclaimed Arrows is at Adept I. Now however, I'm finding myself constanctly running low. With poison and repair costs I don't make enough to start plunking down coin for arrows too. In EQL I was able to bind my Forage skill to my movement key, stick the key down and go AFK overnight and come back with a nice stack of foraged goods. I fiddled a little with this today, but it doesn't seem to work. Are there any ways to Summon Arrows while I am AFK? (other then hire a small child to press the button over and over <span>:smileytongue:</span>) Today while I did housework before the raid I set a timer and every 10 min would summon arrows, but I would love to know if there is another way to Summon Arrows. <div></div>

Unfortunately as I understand it there is no way to repeatedly summon arrows without enlisting the help of another person, household pet, or third party software or hardware. The last is a violation of the Terms of Service as set forth by SOE and can result in action taken against the offending account. I could easily set up my Nostromo n52 Speedpad with a macro that would press the "make arrows" button for me every 10:05, but I'd rather play fair and see a better, more proactive solution from SOE to combat the problem created by arrow costs and the resulting ranger poverty.

I suggest spending the money on upgrading to at least ad3 and master if you can. I dont know the current price of spongies on your server but on Mistmoore they run about 1-1.5 plat. That is easily doable imo. To earn money try harvesting and while harvesting hit the summon arrows. Arrows will always be a situation to a class that's main ca's are arrow based. <div></div>

SOE should have fixed this problem ages ago, but they have not. If they are going to drag their feet, I say be proactive and find a fix that works for you.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- Katsugen</DIV>

Yes, this has gotten out of hand.  There is a very friendly woodworker in our guild that makes arrows for us and only charges for the fuels.  The fuels cost?  It's 5.5g per stack.  And it takes him about an hour to make 9-10 stacks.  If that doesn't scream "BROKEN", I don't what does.

<P>They've said multiple times that they will never implement Endless Quiver in this game.</P> <P>But that is far from the only solution, and something MUST be done about this. It's just plain wrong that we have to use a consumable item to do damage; no other DPS class has that restriction. I guess that's what we give up for the "benefit" of doing all that DPS from ranged, where we can sip cocktails and never ever get hit by raid AEs.... /yawn</P> <P>How about just doubling the amount of arrows that the summon spells create? Easy to implement and it doesn't unbalance a thing, it's not like having more ammo would somehow give us an advantage over any other class, unless you consider actually having some spare change to be an advantage. <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P>

<P>It really sucks for the average ranger that they only added two bows that summon arrows and they put both of those bows in the same raid zone, Deathtoll.  The difference between having one of these bows and never having to worry about ammo or the insane price tag associated with ammo is like night and day.  I don't think I could handle going back to having to deal with our stupid summon arrow skill and having to pay out the [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] for arrows all the time.</P> <P> </P>

<DIV>I know i'll be in the minority on this, and i'm sure to upset a few people, but i like the idea that there are only 2 bows that offer T8 arrows that will solve the arrow supply problem for rangers.   Even though they both drop in DT, and Tarinax has a large loot table .. only strong successful raiding guilds, and the better players who reguarly raid DT will get the bows.   Sure there's some luck involved ... but sooner or later they'll drop.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I like having a gap b/w the top raid rangers and the rest.  If only 20% of rangers ever get it, i'm ok with that.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have a bigger problem with guilds and guild/raid leaders who assign these bows to other classes other then rangers, which i know several have.   DKP or not, it's just plain stupid to let these bows go to other classes before rangers.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

I don't have the arrow problem. However, I completely understand where my raiding breathren are coming from. Why in the world is is okay for the strong, successful raid guilds to save money on a consumable necessary to do damage at all (unless we use our piddly melee skills) and rangers in guilds that raid but aren't in DT get the shaft?<div></div>
