Decided to give EQ2 a try after the removal of my beloved Ranger/CH profession from SWG...So far, having a great time. Made level 11 and am exploring the available environments.

Message Edited by KevinZun on 08-30-2006 03:25 PM

Welcome! A few tips for making your life on the forums more enjoyable:

- Skip most / all threads relating to raid DPS. You don't need to worry about that right now and it'll just bring you down to hear all the complaints. Yes, there is an issue with our damage in the end-game, but it's not relevant to you at the moment and you're better off avoiding the notion that "rangers suck," because we don't.

- Ask lots of questions. They'll get answered eventually. If all else fails, PM me and I'll try to help. (I'm by no means exceedingly knowledgeable, but I am more than willing to help ppl learn about the class and the game.)

- Skim over the threads that degenerate into senseless arguing. Unfortunately, that's at least half of them right now. A lot of people are frustrated with the raid DPS issue, and we're about to kill another horse so we can resume beating it.

- Use the Search tool and/or browse old threads if you're the type that likes reading player discussions to learn about the class. It can be very helpful.

- Don't get discouraged. Play for fun and focus on your own enjoyment. This board has a long history of being very friendly and helpful, but it's gotten kinda gloomy in the last several months due to a variety of game changes. As the old Latin proverb goes, "Non illegitimi carborundum est."

So welcome to Norrath, I think you'll do well here given your sig line. BTW, what server are you on?

From my sig already: Ranger is a lifestyle, not a profession... DPS isn't my issue. In fact, I've learned in SWG pre-CU even to hold my own (being a ranger combat Ranger/Creature Handler) without armor... Only few foods/drinks needed to keep me going. As such, I'm more looking to the fun factor and challenge factor then just to dish out DPS. If I cannot kill a MOB within 1 minute, I surely can try to do it in 30?

- Ask lots of questions. They'll get answered eventually. If all else fails, PM me and I'll try to help. Being a "follower" of a more experienced ranger who tought me the tricks and treat of the profession and system.

- Skim over the threads that degenerate into senseless arguing. Unfortunately, that's at least half of them right now. It can be very helpful.
I've done a lot like that already. That's why I went for a Ranger/Scholar(to become Alchemist?) combination to make potions and such... Fletcher is so...dull (and for arrows it's not really needed if I understand posts correctly) and jewelry making? Ever seen a Ranger wearing rings, necklaces, earrings and so on? Ofcourse I'll use some, but making them... Other thing I would have liked is cooking, but at least I got some minor cooking skills.
- Don't get discouraged. Play for fun and focus on your own enjoyment. But most found refuge on another board

So welcome to Norrath, I think you'll do well here given your sig line.
