Hi i am Styxxey a lvl 63 ranger atm and last night i looted a bow with 45 m range on it. Now i had some Questions regarding this since most longbows are 35 m range.

1. Are CA's dependant on bow range aka if ya use snipershot wiht a short bow do ya need to be in the 25 m range or can ya use the max range from the CA? And would this also work for a 45 m bow if ya have to be in bow range and not CA range!

If CA's are dependant upon bow range that would be awesome to have a 45 m bow with a 4.5 delay and a 90% proc rate (even tho the proc isnt too great 18 heat damage per proc) but it still helps.

If i knew how to post a screenie i would post the bow its jsut a treasured bow so not that awesome just the delay and range came to my attention.

2. Anyways would also be nice if some fello rangers posted a screenie of their t7 bows wiht the location where they got it so the tiny rangers hvae some kinda idea where to hunt for better gear.

Thx a bunch upfront and take care yall

Styxxey Summerblaze Lucan dlere

good question I really dont know actually... but i bet its just longer range in autoattack. But its pretty easy to test thou... Bow with shorter ranger vs. longer range. Youd pretty easily notice if it affects to your CA:s aswell.++Xan

Message Edited by xandez on 08-30-2006 03:09 PM

CA's have their own range. The minimum range that you can fire an arrow, between autoattack and a CA, seems to be whichever has the larger minimum range (ie 5m rather than the 2-35m so the 5m is your true min range). The max range seems to be the shorter of the 2. Stream of arrows has a range farther than your bow does but at max Stream range you won't fire any arrows, but still be rooted in place by Stream.

Hope that makes sense.

If you use a short bow, your CA's will be limited by the range of that short bow.

Does this actually mean that stream is limited by yer bow range aka short bow 25 m longbow 35 m and my treasured bow 45 m? or does it mean its broken i dont really understand what yer trying to say here!

It's a combination. Your CA's have a range attached to them but they are also dependant on the bow you are using. So if you are using a short bow for example all your CA's will have the same 25m limitation. I'll guess you're talking about the Bow of Seering Missles from Vault as it is the only bow I know that has the 45m range. From personal experience of having that bow I can tell you all but two of your CA's will be useable from the 45m distance. Snaring Shot has a 35m max range and will grey out and be unusable along with Stream of Arrows which has a 40m max range if I remember correct.

It's a fun bow with the oddball 90% proc on it lol. And with the 2.5 sec delay can make for some great effects to watch. Can also be of use for pulling those hard to get mobs since it gives you that extra 10m. I don't use it a ton but definitely keep it around. That extra 10m distance can be a life savor when pulling raid mobs to get off surviel while moving back to the MT to pick it up.

Bow of Searing Missles ehh? I love when the MT says get max range and I'm waaay back behind everyone else... well it feels that way.

I dont use it however unless I need to avoid an AOE or for pulling mobs for the tank. The range is nice and proc fun to watch but if your looking for DPS I wouldnt use it.

You could be right on the 4.5 sec delay. It's been a long time since I really looked at the bow since I only really use it for long distance pulls. For Leg Shot / Snaring Shot yes it does work at max range of a normal long bow. And it will work with the Seering Missle bow provided you are not beyond 35m. If you use the bow at it's max 45m range that CA and SoA won't be available to use.

There are other bows that are much better for normal combat like Grizzle's or the Ghost Bow from Claymore. I see this one as just a fun little toy to play with. It's not really an everyday use item but I find it nice to keep around. If for nothing else the extra 10m it allows you on pulls makes it worth keeping on you.

My CA's are 35 range with my longbow equipped, and 25 range with my shortbow equipped.. So yea- weapon effects CA range.
