The back shot line is the only one that i can remember at the moment. They took away kiting a long time ago. Now you root, take a step and a alf back and fire 2 arrows straight into their face. What used to be really fun is when SoA didnt have a minimum range. As long as you could get it off and stay alive people didnt stand a chance. <div></div>

<div></div><p>Ok I felt the need to correct a few comments in this thread. To answer the original question there are two CA's rangers can cast while running. Back Shot which most people know about and a lesser known one Natural Selection (our AOE ranged stealth) which is very useful in lower lvl pvp. Both should be hotkey'd to something reachable while running along with your stealth button. NS can be very useful for getting that extra bit of damage in while they're running away if a single Back Shot just won't cut it.Second Kiting is defiantly not gone. I regularly kite ^^^'s and lower level heroic named with my ranger. Unfortunately its really not practical until you get Leg Shot (in you're 50's i believe). I highly recommend you take the master 2 of this spell as it has a 10 second recast, quick casting time and at master 2 snares for about 63% with a 5% break. In order to kite effectively you need both this spell and your close range snare which you get a lvl or two later and must be at least adept 3. Master's fettering poison at (lvl 52) also helps allot for when snare breaks. Rangers also get a line of both spells and AA's which increase our in combat running speed. Upgrade these as well if you plan on kitting or pvping. Open with Leg shot and kite until leg-shot breaks. Then run away and spam ensnare until it sticks. If root has broken and the mob gets too close use your 4 second root or hit it with cheap-shot to get some distance between you. It also helps to lay down a trap somewhere close to where you will be fighting. If things get out of control and you need a break drag the mob into the trap. Also Kiting is HIGHLY effective in PvP if you learn to keep people at the max range of your bow. By the time they figure out what's happening it’s usually too late and if they try to run hit them with back shot and finish them off with your high damage stealth backstab.I recommend keeping all bow moves at adept3 or better. We suck at melee, so if you don't have the money to spare don't bother upgrading anything in this category past adept1 with the exception of your high damage backstab.Hope that helps,<font color="#ff0000"></font><font color="#ff0000"><font color="#ccff00">Aeiden </font><font color="#ccff00">59 Ranger</font><font color="#ff0000">,</font> Venekor</font><span><font color="#ff0000"> </font> </span></p><div></div>

<DIV>This is something that I have been wanting to clarify for some time so I guess now is as good as any...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As far as I am aware, rangers have only 4 ways to slow/stop a mob. 1 root, and 3 snares:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Root: Thorny trap</DIV> <DIV>Snares:</DIV> <DIV>- the one from splitpaw, with a small chance to root on termination</DIV> <DIV>- the main snare, which is on the same timer as the splitpaw one</DIV> <DIV>- the arrow that has a snare built in (leg shot)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So that means that, unlike a wizard say, once a mob is moving towards us we really don't have a reliable way to root a mob other than to rely on the small chance that the splitpaw snare actually roots (since thorny trap can't really be cast while running away).</DIV>

<DIV>We have a 4 second root on our lunging line.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, there's the 4 seconds for Cheap Shot and the maxed out at like 2.5s of Point Blank Shot AA.</DIV><p>Message Edited by TaleraRis on <span class=date_text>08-28-2006</span> <span class=time_text>11:15 AM</span>

Still pretty useless for anything but interrupting casters. Which I use it for constantly and it works great for that. But since you can't move while it's casting, then there's no time to get away for a ranged shot and not enough time to get behind for a backstab. It really is just an interrupt now.

<div></div><p>No way. Point Blank Shot is a PvPer's dream come true for us rangers if you use it properly. Two words: Knock Back.Don't have much time for an intelligible post so I’ll just sum it up.1. If freeps are on the docks bell hopping kick them off into the water and fire until dead.2. When you are in zones like lavastorm or KoS kick them off the ledges into lava and off of the islands.3. Rangers get safe fall, most other classes don't. If they don't have safe fall, try to fight on top of ridges and peaks. If you can, climb up on top of buildings that are difficult to get on to and snipe them. When they finally manage to get up to where you are PBS them off and let them take fall damage.</p><font color="#ccff00">Aeiden 59 Ranger</font> - <font color="#ff0000">Venekor</font><div></div>

<div></div>...oh and 4. Pretty good for when kiting freeps. If they get to close knock them back a bit and get some distance during the stun. <font color="#ccff00">Aeiden 59 Ranger</font> - <font color="#cc0000">Venekor</font> <div></div><p>Message Edited by Rabbit24 on <span class=date_text>08-29-2006</span> <span class=time_text>12:13 PM</span>

Okay, on the non-PvP servers it's pretty much an interrupt and nothing more.
