<DIV>Hello !</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ive been trying to get the splitpaw shard for some time now but somehow I just can't seem to solo my way throught the Arena and Harclaves. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>With each and every character I played so far (Swash, Monk, Conj, Necro, Dirge, Fury and Paladin) it was easy to get to the champ and kill him. But with my ranger no way in hell. I can get to the three mobs. My tactic is to try and take out the mage first (tried the healer too). Its not even close when I finally die <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />((</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm using all adepts, prisitine armor and legendary poison. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Can someone advise me how to to them out or is the inabliltiy of soloing the arena (and Harclaves) a common Ranger problem ?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Rhan </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Lvl29 ranger</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Yea I got a 24 ranger and have tried every level since 20 to defeat the arena and harclave. Cant get past the 3 fighters and cant even come close to beating the mushroom king. Whats the deal. Even my guardian can beat both of them. lol But my ranger cant. Ive done the arena so many times im almost fed up with it. Looks like ill never beat the arena. <div></div>

<P>Here is my suggestions on the arena.</P> <P>For one, right now you are level 29...meaning alot of the fights are going to be agains level 30's and the champ will be level 31. Believe it or not...the jump from 29 to 30 is bigger than the jump from say...25 to 26...you will likely get creamed untill you hit 30 and they are in the same tier as you. </P> <P>Wait until you are pretty close to dinging 30. Go into the arena with enough exp so you ding in the arena. Heck...if you can bring some T3 armor and weapons with you so you can suit up too (not necessary I dont think). Once you ding, everything should get easier.</P> <P>Other than that...make sure you are using good poisons. Make sure your armor and weapons are up to date. Try to rethink your strategy...are you using all of your debuffs? Are you using Heroic Opportunity's? Do you have a gnoll master strike? Use all of your attacks? Opening from max distance with your heavy hitter?</P> <P>Take out the healer first in the trio. Then the mage. Dont forget to switch to defensive stance if you start getting pounded. Dont be afraid to snare the fighter and kite him some...there is room...I had to do it before they nerfed the whole arena thing.</P> <P>It is entirely possible. You can do it. Just take your time, and remember the ding strategy. Maybe try that at level 30-31. Then you dont have to worry about armor and weapon upgrades. It is a big jump btw. </P> <P></P> <HR> <P>Harclave</P> <P>The key to harclave is not rushing. Plan a couple of hours for this.</P> <P>Kill all the roamers before moving ahead. Even if you are positive that the roamer you just killed was the last one....be careful...use your stealth wisely.</P> <P>You dont have to kill every thing....once you get the buff you can stealth over to the Zygomyds and go clear in there.</P> <P>There are many more roamers in the zygomyd area than the gnoll area. Dont rush over there, take your time...start your battles 100% sure that you are in a good position to fight. </P> <P>Use your HO's. </P> <P>The biggest key is to take your time. Be as sure of whats in front of you as whats behind you.</P>

<P>Arena - it's been a long time since I tried Arena with my ranger so my memory maybe hazy but I don't recall any major problems. I think I used a semi-kiting strategy, but from my other experiences soloing him (soloed him on brigand and dirge as well, and let me tell you if you thought ranger was hard, try dirge!), equipment counts a fair bit. At lvl 30 there's a lot of very nice equipment that costs very little like those cyan-blue leggings that drop in RE (Tribal Legsavers of the Devout) etc...</P> <P>Harclave - contrary to what the previous poster has said, I have had great success just stealthing through most of the instance. Stealth with the torch to light all the fires, touch the ark (still stealthed), then stealth to the mushroom staging area. Here you do have to kill mushrooms bec you won't be able to kill the mushroom king with all that aggro, so kill all the adds. If you make a mistake here it can be dangerous bec there are pathing adds in addition to static ones, just make sure you get one group at a time and that all the pathers are dead before killing the king. Then stealth to the last mob, make the ladder up to him, and then kill him. Perversely this is actually a really hard encounter for some classes for reasons I don't 100% understand. If I do fail at harclave, this is usually where I fail, right at the end. And for other classes he's a cakewalk. I don't remember if he was hard for a ranger, though I suspect he might be due to the lack of room for kiting.</P> <P>I did Splitpaw on my ranger before the combination nerf/buff where they made somethings much easier (Arena) and other things much harder (Harclave) so take this with a pinch of salt... a lot of comparisons I am making I am using memories of much more recent attempts with my dirge and brigand chars.</P>

<div></div>Hmm... its definitely doable i think. I've done it before the combat revamp with a "broken" ranger. And i had treasured gear, maybe a legendary bow but thats it.The secret in the multiencounter is to take out the enchanter 1st. Then healer, leave the fighter to last. 1) enter sneak mode2) open against the mage with the most powerful attack you have, kill HIM/HER!3) focus on the healer, use cheap shot to stun, then maybe back a few steps for some ranged CA:s4) focus on the fighter and kill him/her tooDunno if they have changed this encounter since its a long time i have been there. But it used to be doable. After the CU (combat update) it was rediculouskly easy to rangers since we made huge DPS.Before that, the last part (champion) was however near impossible. For example, i never beat him until the CU came. Many rangers did however.Work out your strats, try different things. Remember to use the best poisons, use maybe debuff poisons etc. I'm pretty sure you'll get it done! <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />Good luck!*edit*Muaha, just read what other had written, since i slacked this time and jumped right to the reply mode <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />Saihung wrote:"Other than that...make sure you are using good poisons. Does SP stop scaling at 50? <div></div>

The key to the arena is to sneak. Before every encounter I started the conversation with the dude up top then went into stealth mode before I finished the conversation. That was I was never surprised and always got off a big hit first.<div></div>

In the middle of conversations, stealth, you can still finish the conversation...they know youre there...</P>

Ah good, maybe now I can finish it. I never could thanks to the trio. Would always get two of them dead and only have a sliver of health left on the third so I died.

i aint done this in a long time, even really played ranger much in a long time, but i can tell you if you are having trouble now you need to work on the strats above. back when i did it splitpaw was just out and the only classes that could beat the solo arean were paladins and wizards, i went in with some heal potions and a gnoll masters strike and churned the entire zone another one, and rangers have improved greatly since then minus the cost of arrows<div></div>
