View Full Version : Why so many melee attacks?
<DIV>First off, I am not saying to give the ranger none. Ok, now, it isnt till we reach around lvl 20 that we start getting more ranged attacks than the same ones we got during the first 5 levels(i dont include upgraded skills that change the name and damage done but is exactly the same skill). We are basically an assasin with a couple ranged attacks until 20. I think this is a side effect of the original sub class system(what were they thinking with that?) but when you are lvl 15 and you have twice as many melee attacks than ranged attacks and some of those must be done while stealthed(so you have to decide which to do, ranged or stealthed), are we gimped before 20?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, why IS it set up that we HAVE to choose between an opening stealthed attack and a ranged one. What I mean is, if one deals more damage, then doesnt that just render the other attack useless? For the assasin, because of their long recharge times, it makes sense to have a number of stealth attack to open a fight with. For us, it doesnt.</DIV>

Hence the nice supply of melee arts at low levels. Cheap Shot should enable you to get at least one stealth attack off in a solo encounter. Unfortunately, if engaging 2-4 enemies, it's hard to get the attack off before they break your stealth... but it's possible.

Lunging Blade/Stun ---> Run by/away from--->Shrouded Blade line/Stealth ---> Stealthy Fire/ Either of our two stealth Melee CA's . When in a group, of course.</div><hr></blockquote>Cheap Shot - run through the mob - Longshank line (positional that puts you into stealth) - Dire Blade line (backstab line) - Surveil line - Tangleflame line (stealth, but non-positional heat attack) and you have put a serious hurting on the mob. It's tricky and you either need a macro or quick fingers like I have, but even with only 4 seconds rather than the 6 we used to have on Cheap Shot, I can get that combination off about 75 to 80% of the time, whereas the extra 2 seconds CS used to have would let me get that much off every time. And no, we're not primarily a melee class. I use melee to mop up after my ranged attacks. Even fighting groups with a tool like Storm of Arrows, I can just root one, back up, and the CA will go off because I'm required distance from my targets. It's been VERY helpful against the groups in DoF areas.
