I decided to look at where I was at from the statmods, scratch or another assassin said they had a hard time hitting things ranged. This is what I have for my mods in offensive in my typical str gear when I raid.350 focus413 pierce350 poisoning387 ranged400 slash342 defense380 parryAnyone else noticing a trend like this?

<DIV>I think few assasins are going to hit 387 ranged and its simply this that makes a differance.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As a guardian with 350 ranged on 70+ I will miss fairly requently.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>However with crushing at well over 400 I  can hit 100% on the same mob.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>To be honest I am actually quite surprised at how low your ranged attack is and a quick ask around seems to indicate you have about 20 points on an assasin.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Frankly at under 400 i start to miss in melee , so an assasin at 370 must be missing a fair bit. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Looking at named parsers on the assasin boards about a 5% melee miss rate seems about standard ( of course at a rating of probably 415 ish).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ok so how often are you missing with a bow against named opposition at 387 ?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Forinstance, if I used two pierce weapons, I wouldh ave a much higher chance to attack than if I used a ranged weapon.. Its not known how much of a %age it effects, just thats how its done..Its a problem in the itemization (although there are items specificcly designed for rings, like the ring of the relictinker that has a +9 ranged mod to it or our class cap)..Im starting to wonder if I should put on my hat i got from the birdie or not.</div>

<DIV>As far as I can tell, offensive stat mods currently do virtually nothing.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>At one time, they were very important.  But several LiveUpdates ago during DoF the entire con system and combat system were changed to make levels the only thing that really matters.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Do they have some effect?  I suppose, if you have really really low offensive stats (like a mage's piercing skill).  But for a melee class with his offensive weapon skills maxed for his level, whatever effect they have is far far outweighed by the mob's con vs. your con.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So in my opinion, if you're a level 70 melee class, offensive skill stats mods are nothing but eye candy.</DIV>

And think how you play now.. And how your able to hit level 72 mobs with no problem.. Thats the way I look at it anyways, I go for items with stat mobs for that reason.. - If your seeing a 2% miss rate, extra mods probabbly dont make a diff.. But when that expansion comes out and your fighting oranges/reds.. It will come into play bigtime.</div>

They do help, it is obvious if you go from defensive to offensive, unfortunately, it does require quite the boost to be noticeable.Seeing this thread reminded me of something I have thought was amusing for sometime.. Anyone else notice how many +offensive skill buffs from other classes (such as a Guardian) don't have +Ranged? I am pretty sure they are meant to help the group, yet it seems to be an oversight on ranged combat (surprise surprise). Whether that 20 or whatnot extra skill would be noticeble I cannot say, but hey, I want it cause the others get their primary method. (note, I am not saying I bow 100% of the time, just in case someone reads that into this)Merkades, 70th Ranger.Siege, Najena.
