<DIV>Admittedly I am lazy and on top of that i suck at doing selective searches</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I was wondering if any of you good people on this board have any links for actual official responses to some of the numerous complaints that have been made about the ranger class??</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I think I read everything there was to read following "The Grand Nerf" but links for that would be great as well.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I keep reading parse analysis, debates on tactics, debate on gear, CA discussions etc. but I cant remember ever seing any input from the development team or SOE in general?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I know they keep a low proflie but do they respond AT ALL?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Im not a forum veteran so any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated :smileyhappy:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

There has and hasent been a responce.. No dev has actually said they are looking into ranger dps, what they have said though is they are looking into ways to change the way arrows consume and to make tradeskilled arrows a viable source of income (meaning a large diffrence in venderbaught to player baught).. This was about 5 months back.

The one and only respose I have gotten was back at fan faire. They said Ranger DPS is fine and changed the subject quickly. They also rue the day that they mentioned the damage tiers.<div></div>

<DIV>I'm going to the Dev chat on the 3rd to try to get in a question about us. Probably won't get through, as they tend to ignore the meat questions, but it's worth a shot.</DIV>

<DIV>Unfortunately Gwyneth, they even admitted in the last one that they dont take "loaded questions". Loaded being questions that they have no way to put a positive spin on.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>They will take the fluff questions from the same old same old.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Nothing against these particular posters and players...but if you look at the last House of Commons chat...it is pretty obvious that no answers will be given unless the can be spun to their advantage.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And yes I am a pessimist lol.</DIV>
That's not pessimism, that's realism. Those things are PR shots, they're not meant to actually communicate valuable information to players. They value their lives more than that. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<P>It just amazes me how much frustration they could remedy and how many good rangers they could keep from betraying with a vague and non-commitive (is that a word? English not my first language hehe) little thing like:</P> <P>"We are aware that many of you in the ranger community have issues with your class and it is something we are looking into"</P> <P>I myself would never betray or reroll to anything else, I would rather quit the game, but they need to throw me a bone soon. Just a small on for the love of Tunare!!! <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P>But then again there so much about the customer communication policy in Sony that I don't understand.</P> <P> </P> <P>Message Edited by schlamo on <SPAN class=date_text>07-26-2006</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>02:24 AM</SPAN></P><p>Message Edited by schlamo on <span class=date_text>07-26-2006</span> <span class=time_text>02:24 AM</span>

I'm actually glad they haven't said anything yet. There was a time we were flavor of the month, until more 'rangers' become assassins I don't even want them to look at us.I am a Ranger because that is what I wanted to be. I was gimped when I was created, I just didn't know it. I became a GOD for a short period and I loved it. Now I have hopes that some thing will improve in the future, but I could really care less if they didn't. I still enjoy being a Ranger and will continue to do so.<div></div>

<P>I enjoy being a ranger as well, Tek, but unfortunately it's becoming more difficult to be my playstyle and be my class. It makes me sad, because I love my class to death.</P> <P>I've been thinking a lot about which of my alts I want to concentrate on, though, for when Gwyn is no longer playable the way I like to play.</P>

<DIV>I'm raiding with my Warden now - it's not because Rangers are great contributors to DPS or anything else. At some point, even SOE will realize this and then it will be changed.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I still think soloing with Rangers is also an issue (but it is for several classes).</DIV>

I'm still raiding with my ranger but once the 2 guild assassins catch up to me on masters and fabled gear and people start noticing how far I'm lagging behind in dps I'm probably gonna switch to my illusionist. He's one of the very few Troll illusionists on Najena and very fun to play. Other then that my woodelf SK rocks in group and solo content but SK are worse for raiding then rangers so I hold no grand illusion that she'll be raiding at all.

<P>My boyfriend remade his fury to Freeport side, so I think I might play my bruiser. We already have a nice pair with his berserker and my conjuror. </P> <P>I'm still chugging along solo with Gwyn. I'm thinking I might see how my illusionist solos myself, or the baby coercer I have on the island on my second account. </P>
I really want to plan an enchanter. I do. But every time I bring my 19 illusionist out, I solo her for about 20 mins, then get bored and log off or switch to another toon. I don't know why, but I just can't do it. Basically I'm just keeping her parked until a few friends get some alts going around that level... assuming I don't end up playing my 20 SK or 23 brigand instead. <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

I do sort of miss the playstyle, though. I loved locking down 6 or 7 mobs while we systematically snipped them off, and bending something to my will to go beat on things for me. I'm not sure I want to taint my memories by playing one of the "lesser" versions of the class here <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> But it is tempting.<div></div>

My main in EQ was a chanter. My first toon in EQ2 was a chanter. He is level 23. I might hit 24 before the expansion comes out. I have two alts higher than him too, LOL</div>
I've always loved the chanter's abilities in this game, but I need a group to play mine. I just can't do the solo thing with her... I don't really enjoy soloing anyway, even with Kae, and soloing with a chanter is high-maintenance (and that's coming from a longtime ranger). I was / am at a point with some friends that I could break her out (they're mid-20s tank and healer) but then we'd lose our DPS, which comes in the form of my 25 iskar brigand. And man, the more I play the brig, the more I like it. They're disgustingly effective, even in the mid 20s.

Now with his persona pet solo is even easier the pet holds agro like crazy (he spams power drians which i swear must build crazy hate cause I can't pull a mob off him once he gets started) and with the right root, stun, and DoT strats I can take ^^^ mobs. True its very slow and group xp grinding is much more effective but just wanted you to know illusionist solo is easy peasy compared to what i did with my ranger. (solo 44 thru 50 in EF on my ranger)</P> <P>My SK on the other hand rocks with all her spells and AoE DoTs I feel like a warlock in plate. I also betrayed her over when she was a lvl12 woodelf crusader and I try to save Harm Touch to duel people with when they confuse me for a Pally. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P>
Yeah, I know *how* to solo with her, I just don't really enjoy it. Like I said, too much maintenance. If I stuck to single enemies it'd probably be easier, but it seems like whenever I take on a group of 3 or 4 mobs, they inevitably beat the [Removed for Content] out of my pet and then take me down in 2-3 hits. Whee?
