<DIV>There's quite a bit of difference between the two. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Rangers focus primarily on sheer damage dealing, specializing in ranged attacks and backstabs.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Swashbucklers (as I understand) trade some of that damage for buff/debuffs, improved tanking, and sundry other support effects.  They are melee focused, rather than ranged.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As far as the soloing goes, it depends on your style.  Rangers rely on kiting or dealing as much damage to the target as they can before it closes to melee, a method which has some pretty severe drawbacks.  They can still be quite effective, though.  Swashbucklers are much better in a toe to toe slugfest.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Choosing one class over the other boils down to, as usual, trying them and deciding which is more fun.  <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>The Swashies have one of the most valuable utilities in the game, group stealth.  Although, it only takes one person in the group not knowing how to move around mobs that see through stealth to ruin it.  Other than that and a couple of other utilities, I don't think one class is really much better than the other when it comes to soloing.  Swashies have more melee skills and Rangers have more ranged skills.</DIV>

I play both and honestly it's more of a feel to it than anything. I love my Ranger, but when i play my Swash I feel a kind of 'arrogance' - LOL<div></div>

<P>Swashes are limp-wristed and wear lots of ruffles with their fabulous outfits. They also like to use rapiers and other fancy swords. Rangers, on the other hand, are rugged individualists toughened by years of survival in the wilds, who are by definition more attractive and far deadlier. </P> <P>Both classes prefer to do it from behind, though. </P> <P>Hope this helps! <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P>
