View Full Version : The Gimptard Bird (65 spell)

Well, I've been thinking about that retarted bird whose basically only good thing its for is breaking stealth, could go for a little change :smileywink: At adept one i beleived the aggro draw was 20% and at m1 was 24% (4 more woot!) Normally a guild uses better means of aggro reduction rather then a retarted bird for 30 seconds every 1 minute and 30 seconds. I later came to think about the assassin 65 spell after i saw someone trying to sell it in 60-69 chat and the spell [Removed for Content] me off on how much better it was in comparrison, which made me come up with a little idea to make the bird not suck :smileyvery-happy: Instead change the hits of the bird to cast a 10% crit (chance melee and ranged) and a 10% casting time reduction (yes casting not recast) at adept 1 and maybe 14% at m1 ( 4 actually makes a better difference there) However increase the recast by 30 seconds to a minute and 30 seconds Note that this would effect the entire group as well which would give the ranger some sort of sense of utility. This would still help soloers solo and raiders raid (unless their raiding was sololy dependent the birds ability of aggro siphoning which i highly doubt) Not only would this change actually increase groups where it would help everyone (enchanters, sorcerers , and priests on casting reduction mosly, and everyone else on both if the bird would effect the summoners pets as well) Now i've figured the likely chance of this occuring is 0.00001% chance of actually going through, but I thought about how they changed the DoT into a root anything is possible :smileywink:

Message Edited by Naku9 on 05-06-2006 01:50 PM

Actually I think the bird is great.... I mean worst case: its an extra DoT for when youre blasting away with ranged CAs. Just gotta time it so you aren't using stealth based stuff while the bird is out, which is no biggy, rangers aren't AS reliant on stealth attacks as most other scouts In raid I can see it being very useless, but not everything is made for every situation. Not to discount that arguement really, just saying. In group though I have saved several wizzies from death with it. It allows the tank to pull adds or whatnot of the armorless faster, once I even noticed the mob aggro my bird a second before the tank completely took control. Also, those dps with less aggro control can nuke with more freedom when the bird is up, and since it is a temp pet they can see its up and little communication is needed to get at least some use from it. Soloing its great too. I can survive being jumped far easier. Just send the bird after the mob, deaggro, and back off. The bird doesnt really tank, but it will distract enough for me to get to range and get some shots in. If sniper shot is up I have the time to stealth and shoot that off. Also, I sometimes pull with the bird and hit it to wear the mob down without getting aggro until the bird dies... I just see it in those cases as a way to extend my hp and don't do it often but it is an option. Mostly its a good distraction. Finally, I just like having a pet. A hunting hawk seems very rangerish to me... wish there was a hunting dog too but that would probably unbalance things or whatever. Just saying there are ways to use the bird as is and the uniqueness of its abilities is cool. Though lower casting timers and more crits wouldnt be so bad, hehe

i think the hawk shoul be AE immune ......so far our MT hasent lost aggro to a hawk....unless the bugger dies and then u see mob head straight to smash some ranger.....killing half the raid force in the mean time with ae's

I frequently use it as an AoE timer on new MoBs.

Whoah, and I almost thought Lithium fixed their buggy code.

Ummm...where oh, yeah. Bird changes sound good, sign me up.

The lil guy dies very willingly on raids, that's about the only use for him.

The bird will remain useless as long as it breaks stealth, and on raids it's a deathwish for the entire raid. Probably solo is the only really useful role for the bird.

Almost anything would be better than it. Even a lame buff or CA.

They could fix the bird in the following way:

Don't have it break stealth

Bird dying does not transfer its aggro to ranger (it's not like a permanent pet, yo!)

Hate % transfer is more improved for higher quality than it is now.

I think we should replace the bird with Nagafen, so everyone in the raid can go OMG [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] NAGGY ADD!!!!1!1

Eh, it'd be fun at least once, and that's more than what we get from the winged gimpery.

Maybe we could get that as a "fluff" spell :smileywink:

If you come across someone soloing the tigers in SS, just walk up behind them, turn around so you are back to back and summon your fluff tiger. It'll pop right in front of them. I've been called a few names, but it's worth it.

Does the bird break mezzes? As in, if an encounter of 4 mobs is mezzed and I assist the tank and send the bird in on the mob he is fighting, will the other 3 mobs wake up?Hmm, from now on I will call it flipping the bird.Mezzes were breaking for an unknown reason the first time I flipped the bird and I haven't flipped the bird since. I don't want my raid-mates accusing me of flipping the bird and screwing everything up.Gnaril
