View Full Version : Did I choose the wrong race?

<div></div>Easily the most n00b thing I've done thus far in ANY game I think.I've just got to LVL 20 and realised I chose a Half Elf instead of a Wood Elf for my Ranger by mistake.  I still do great damage and am very happy with my character and I know a lot of you would say "Then what's the problem?".  I just want to make sure I have the best race for the class so my character is as good as it can be.  I dont want to be a lower damage dealing character cos I picked the wrong race like a nub.Any advice is welcome. Thanks everyone.<div></div>

<div>Race choice will not make an significant difference to how your class plays.</div><div>You'll be fine.</div>

The best class for a Ranger is an ogre. The main stats for rangers are STR and lesser so INT. Ogres have 30STR, 15INT. Half-Elfs are up as another good choice. Wood Elves, however are not actually stated that great for being a ranger as they have low STR. In the end though, race doesn't matter as the stats between most people will be very similar anyway.

<div></div>The more you level the less your race matters. While the effects can be noticable at first eventually the racial stat bonuses are way over shadowed by gear etc. I'd only go back and re-roll as a Wood Elf if you really want to be a Wood Elf and not a Half Elf for appearance or role play reasons. Or if you want to be the "<a target="_blank" href="http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=general_roleplaying&message.id=1316#M1316">purest form of evil in all Norrath</a>"

<div>You can't choose the wrong race.  The only wrong choice you can make is your class, and you obviously didn't choose the wrong class.  It's all good.:smileyhappy:</div>

<div>Yeah, you messed up big time. If you didn't pick kerra, you have an inferior ranger. But hey, at least half elves actually have male models.</div><div> </div><div>/ducks</div><div>/runs</div>

<div></div>Kerra's have male models?  You all look like huge kitty (your so lucky it didnt let me use the other word) cats to me.   And I could never tell which one was male or female.  Once again, you are just mad that my male wood elf is prettier then any of the girls in the Kerran race, but its ok, I understand, hairy females doesnt do it for me either. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />  So, before you try to bash beauty in its essence (me), please, lick yourself off and wipe your paws, I dont like dealing with dirty kitty cats.  ThanksP.S. For you Kerrans, it isnt a parry bug, they just finally realized that you cant actually fire a bow with your paws.  And those claws, STOP BREAKING YOUR STRINGS, and you might actually fight better. ;P<div></div><p>Message Edited by Fireshadow on <span class="date_text">03-08-2006</span><span class="time_text">03:53 PM</span></p>

<div>Did you at least choose red as your hair color?  'Cause red haired rangers have a damage bonus from their naturally raging personality.</div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div>Why hasnt someone made a post about all of this before?  <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></div><div> </div><div>Sai</div>

FEar not fellow Ranger. DOnt listen to these overgrown [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] cats.Kerran rangers are a dime a dozen, and have you ever smelled one when it rains?   yuck. Now if you ask me I think my Froglok ranger is the bomb. Nice smooth skin. No problem in the rain, and way more good looking than those furry bow twangers!Buaf 57 Ranger Befallen<div></div>

<div>In the end, Race matters little in whatever class you end up choosing.  You might get a little advantage early on in life, but as you level up, you'll be getting gear that makes you as effective as anyone else wearing it.  The only thing that really matters when it comes to race is the fluff bonuses from racial traditions (they aren't earth-shattering by any means) and whether or not you want to play that race for 70 levels.  Other than that, don't worry about it too much.</div>

Kerran Ranger's... yeah, right. Sure you may be good at what you do, but once that bow string breaks you get SO distracted. I've seen Kaeros playing with a broken bow string for HOURS on end. Then theres the CATNIP, they can't get ENOUGH, there worse than Dwarves and their ALE. Plus you can TELL when a Dwarf is drinking, it's REAL HARD catching a Kerra using catnip, I thought it was a resin bag until his eyes got all wide... SHEESH!!!!As for the right race, there is none. I made a gnome monk on PVP, if THATS not wrong NOTHING is <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

/cough Hairy Kerran woman /coughSorry, I hate when stuff gets in my throat.  All I am going to say is that using the bow is a thing of beauty, and who is the most beautiful race in the land?  Why, wood elves.  Thus, drawing from this conclusion, the only true race for a ranger, is a wood elf.  Others may try to claim beaty in their race, but I have yet to see a FEMALE from any other race nearly as pretty as me.  In the end, we all do about the same damage, yes, but none of you look nearly as good as me while doing it.Oh, and Kearos.... /duel you anytime if I am ever able to get back in game.   <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>
