View Full Version : Str, Agi etc...
Newbie Ranger here. Each time I get a chance to up any of my base stats, I'm pouring it into agility. Should I be doing this or should I be upping other stats aswell??? What I don't want to do is ruin my character at higher levels in anyway. If anyone could give me advice that'd be great. Also, in most games what you can equip is determined by what your base stats are. Is this true or can you put on anything as long as you fit the class and lvl?<div></div>

You have made your first serious mistake here - you have attempted to apply common sense in the development of your character. Sadly common sense is not something shared by the devs.To answer your question concentrate on strength first as it dictates how much damage you do. Pre-KoS Rangers also built up their intelligence to improve poison and proc damage.Building up intelligence is something the dev team need to do quickly.<div></div>

<div></div><p>Build up AGI first. The people that say not to worry about AGI are the ones that already have 200+ or so usually.</p><p>You need power first. The bonus from STR is minimal in comparison to not running out of power in a fight. Once you get your AGI to a point that you aren't running out of power in fights, then STR should be your main concern. Really you should level them pretty evenly until you get to the point that your AGI is high enough. I've been in groups where my STR was buffed more than 100 and my CA damage didn't go up that much above what it already was. Upgrading skills easily outclasses STR bonus (same holds true with Mages and INT).</p><p>The bonus from INT makes less of a difference. The fact INT serves no other function (STR boosts auto-attack damage) doesn't help.</p><p>Yes, INT and STR do improve damage on CAs and spells, but if you actually look at the boosts it isn't that insane. You aren't doubling it, you are adding a few percent more. Good poisons, upgraded skills, and better weapons make more difference in the long run then the extra STR and INT you get from going all out those stats with equipment. It doesn't matter how strong your CAs are if you have no power to use them.</p>

STR is for damage, important in later levels but not a huge deal right away. What this guy said is right.
So so far I'm not doing too badly then with my selections?http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/pplayer.vm?characterId=546857204After how long should I start putting stuff into my other attributes??Thanks again for all your help btw. Much appreciated.btw - What are procs?<div></div>
<div></div><div>Strength - Weapon Damage, Encumberance, Fighter's Powerpool</div><div>Stamina - Your potential maximum Health Pool</div><div>Agility - Scout powerpool, Avoidance</div><div>Wisdom - Priest Powerpool, Resistance Mitigation</div><div>Intelligence - Mage Powerpool, (Hybrid class powerpool, Bards and Crusaders?), Spell damage Increase (procs, nukes, etc.)</div><div> </div><div>You need to balance these attributes according to your role on a certain situation. It's not always, you go crazy on str and intelligence so u could up your dps like crazy when you die under AE with low HP and low resistances. You can't do dps when you're dead, you can't do dps without power either.. Balance everything out so that you're useful in group/raid situations.</div>

Procs = procodiles. Mythical reptiles from the days of yon when Rangers were a DPS class.Proc = Programmed Random Occurance. You apply a poison, which then has a 5% chance to PROC, or go off on the target. You can also get other items that PROC. Like player-made imbued chest armor that has a 5% chance to PROC a heal over time spell when you take damage. There are also rings that have a 5% chance to PROC AGI or some other stat when you do damage. There are many other items that PROC, and I think you have an idea of what a proc is now.<div></div>
