<div>So I understand Ranger's have been nerfed pretty bad. I had been planning to roll a ranger as soon as I hit 70 on my main, even got some masters, but after reading about how bad ranger's got nerfed, I dunno if I want to roll one or if I'd be better off with a monk maybe. I don't have to have the best class out there, but I don't want to be constantly frustrated that I'm not up to snuff either. So to those ranger's feeling the sting of the nerf bat, would you choosse to start over again as a ranger, or are you wishing you were something else?</div>

<div>i dont think this kind of question will bring you the desired feedback right now. people are way too emotional around here unfortunately. It feels like they were taken their favorite toy form them <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></div><div> </div><div>Rangers are fun to play. As a Ranger you need to move in combat to get most of it. you have to be on your toes and actualy play instead just sitting back hitting few buttons or even running macro consisting of sequnce of CAs like let me say inquisitor, whom i tend to call turtles - they are slow but they rarely die.</div><div> </div><div>As you do not know how it was to play with uberDPS, you wont have troubles exploring the ranger class. And while the dmg output of rangers is probably nos as high as it should be, it can only get better as the devs are now testing playability of a ranger and crunching numbers to compare dmg output of rangers after lu20 with other classes.</div>

We are still HIGHLY playable and a very FUN class, despite what you may read here. We are no longer the Dieties of DPS but we can still hold our own. Try it. You'll like it <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

<div>There are other choices? Plate armor chaffs and I don't look good in a house dress. Naw, Ranger FTW!</div>
<div></div>I'm a pre-LU#13 ranger. I love my ranger. I would re-roll a ranger if something happened to my ranger. I wouldnt hesitate. Being successful at playing a class doesnt come from the mad DPS, it comes skill. Any dork can roll a flavor of the month character and be mildly successful. If you want the mad scout DPS, roll a Brigand. If you want to tank and do good dps, try bruiser or zerker. If you want the highest dps in game, think Necro/Conjurer.I admit, the changes post LU13 were heavenly. To be honest, I went through a little turmoil on the changes but after a good 6 hours of sulking, I got over it. I didnt choose to play ranger for "mad dps". I rolled one because I liked the idea of ranged combat, that includes bow kiting. Oh, Anyone can bow kite successfully, it just takes longer <span>:smileyhappy: It's like climbing a mountain. There's no reason to climb it other then the sense of accomplishment (and the good view when you're done).I will continue to play ranger. I'm not going anywhere. </span><div></div>

<div></div><div>Play a swashie or a brigand. Same/better dps, more utility</div>
<div></div><p>definitly, don't listen to the huge list of complaining posts, rangers remains a very fun class to play....( and ignore the drama post about ' I can't kill blue solo mobs' or ' guardians outdps me', those are just not true...).</p><p> </p>

<div></div><div></div>Rangers come into their own on PVP. To me the Ranger class is all about superior woodscraft, stealth and hit and run. A combined group of rangers can drop a foe so quickly that they don't know what hit them. In PVP the ranger actually can utilize the skills you are given when you roll one up. Stealth has a real purpose and so does tracking. I can actually hunt people down. When you see rangers fending off some of the considerably tough opponents from Freeport its a hoot. Rangers don't always win. A good Berzerker or bruiser can hold you down with stuns and just pulverize you. If you let them. But what ranger in his right mind would allow it? If you want a class that can harry an opponent into doing dumb things, has an extremely high survivability, and can take out folks adequately to feel that you are competing with the rest of the classes go Ranger. Its not a ranger gankfest out there any more though. Rangers don't have the highest DPS now. Brigands and assasins hold their own and I think right now brigands are among the toughest foes and can hit with a ton of dps and stun you. Well played they are formidable. The pvp dance of rangers is about quick assaults and escapes. Or its about team work. Start a ranger and see. Start some other classes too. <div></div><p>Message Edited by Fibta on <span class="date_text">03-02-2006</span><span class="time_text">10:55 AM</span></p><p>Message Edited by Fibta on <span class="date_text">03-02-2006</span><span class="time_text">10:56 AM</span></p>

in all honesty i would not..i'd go assassin or Wizard depending if you wanted melee or ranged DPS .. we are kind of like a hybrid of the two.. but like all hybrids not truely good at either.we used to be great ranged DPS, in fact we were over powered ranged DPS.. the changes not only cut the DPS hugely but have forced us back to being a hybrid melee/ranged again like we were Pre LU13.<div></div>

<div></div><p>Rangers can still be fun depending on how you decide to look at the class. Just be careful soloing, since your average ranger who isn't in full "uber" gear can get smacked around by solo mobs other classes can solo fine. My ranger can still solo; she's just not very good at it right now. If you're wanting a character who can solo heroics, don't make a ranger. Try a different class. Been seeing a few people in varous classes bragging about that lately. If you're wanting a character who's at the top of the dps ladder, again, try another class. If you want to make a big impact in groups, try a different class. </p><p>But if you just like the idea of a ranger and and aren't aiming for being the top of anything, try a ranger. If you're the type of player who can just have fun with a class without having a specific role, try a ranger. It all depends on expectations right now (until the devs give us some adjustments hopefully.) When I'm wanting to do big things, make big contributions to a group, etc... I play my other characters. When I just want to run around and have fun because I like shooting things with a bow, I play my ranger.</p>

PvE has suffered, and I think that is wht the OP is asking about. If he is infact asking about what to roll in PvP, he might want to ask on the PvP boards.I'm sure he will get plenty of input there. Might even try asking Moorguard. He's been spending all his time on Nagafen PvP apparently.</font></p><p><font color="#99ff99">Do I still love playing a Ranger? I don't play my ranger on butcherblock anymore. I rolled a swash to try pvp. Day 2 I realized my mistake, deleted the swash and rolled another ranger. Haven't looked back. Kicking [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] and having a blast. So we don't rule dps like we used to, I still LOVE ranged combat. Fighting even con pcs is hard, I LOVE the challenge. Most fun fight I've had yet was with a white Zerker, we were both just dots of red at the end and he outlasted me by a smidge. I hope to run into him again, or others like him, I have the tools I need for a good fight and my skill keeps increasing. I say roll a ranger if you want a class that will make you use every button you have.<div></div>

Hence reason why I mentioned tanking dps, or pet style dps.The concept is to play what you think is fun to play. Personally, I like the ranged dps. It's all good there's something for everyone even if rangers arent at the top of the pile anymore. <span>:smileywink:</span></span><div></div>

<div></div><p>I'd say it really depends on your play style. If you like to group and plan on grouping most of the time then Rangers are still pretty fun. If you like to solo alot you might want to hold off tell information on LU21 starts coming out. As it stands now Rangers are a pretty poor solo class. Not the worst but definitely below average.</p><p>All in all I still like my Ranger and have adapted my playstyle. Still mad as hell at what they did to Thorny Trap and the change to Devitaliaztion CA line. But you don't get Trap tell L52 so that won't effect you for awhile :smileytongue:</p><p> </p>
