Yea... thats right.. I tryed to keep positive but when I see someone post in group every couple fights what the DPR was it kinda pisses me off when the guardian is always over the rangers.. not by just 100-500 but sometimes by 5k.. So i started spamming attacks like crazy and got with in 100-500 range.. How sad is this!?<div></div>
<div>I'm still at least 150 dps ( dps not total damage in fight like you are quoting) over guardians, so no clue how you do it...</div><div>You may want to stop wielding a spoon and use a sharp weapon....</div>

<div></div><p>Im sorry, but Ive spent the last several days parsing almost all of the fights that I have been in with my guild... be it raids, or just grinding in SoS... and I have to tell you this, if you are being out DPSed by a Guardian, then I think its time you hung up your bow. Last night grinding in SoS with guildies, I was averaging about 350 DPS without poisons, occassionally getting beat by the bruiser we had, which Im sure was in an offensive stance as he was not our main tank. Later in the night we hit the nest, were I applied my poisons and it was a whole different story. DPS went up tp about 450-550 depending on the fight, and which CAs were up. Over the weekend, during raids... the top two DSPers in every fight were Ranger (myself) and a warlock, the two of us would trade back and forth between 1 & 2... again it was usually dependent on the encounter.. Single target was the ranger on top, multi was usually the warlock.</p><p>Now with that being said, the ones that will beat us hands down all day long come from the summoner line. Their scout pets will out DPS me all day long.</p><p> </p><p>Nesse</p><p>63 (64 after tonight) Ranger</p><p>Oasis</p>

Um...were you throwing the arrows at the mob or were you using a bow?<div></div>
<div></div><div></div><p>I can vouch for this happening, though it seems to be situational (though I have not put my finger on the situation yet). There was a night when I was fighting for the top spot with a guild Guardian (who was MTing). At first she was beating me and I though "I'm just being lazy.". So I started moving hitting everything I had (including melee) and while she stopped beating me regularly it was still 30%-70% split. Not bad but considering it was a guardian not good. Now during these fights I was parsing low DPS and I have at other times both before this and after been able to regularly parse much higher numbers, number that would have beaten out a Guardian handily. Hence why I think it's situational, just not sure what the situation was that night that tilted things in her favor. Strange.</p><p>Normal? No. Possible without sitting on your laurels? Yes, but rarely I think.</p><p>I agree with Nesse though, I hate the Summoner scout pets. They are always right there with me fighting with me for the top spot. If you add the casters DPS to his/her pet's DPS, they beat me 90% of the time.</p><p>Message Edited by jwmaynar on <span class="date_text">03-02-2006</span><span class="time_text">11:41 AM</span></p>

<div></div>Also keep in mind level differences and how big a role they play in PVE combat. OP neglected to mention any difference in levels, so assuming he's using his attacks in proper order with decent gear, poisons, etc. he still won't land nearly as often if the mobs are orange/red to him, and the Guard might out-dps him if he's 5 levels higher against these same mobs.

<div></div><div></div>Compare the guardian CA's and the Ranger CA's and you will quickly discover there is NO WAY this happens especially if your ungrouped. If you are in a group then how many reactive procs were on the guaridan. Did a Fury have Porcipine on him or other procs. Thats the only way for a guardian to mount up that kind of damage in a normal fight. Do yourselves a favor guys and dont give in to this kind of over reacting. If the recent changes have altered the fabric of your class then rally to get something to compensate. Speaking from a former Raid MT Guardian I can tell you though if you just looking to go back to the days of "Mash button for DSP" it isnt going to happen just like Guardians will never get their HP buffs to stack again. Both were wrong and are now out of game. Find something to bring fun back to your class that they just cant say no too.<p>Message Edited by Warbird1 on <span class="date_text">03-02-2006</span><span class="time_text">11:56 AM</span></p>
<div></div>In my case the guard was lower level but the mobs were yellow to both of us. All I'm suggesting is this is possible, though re-reading the OP the comment about the guard doing 5K more DPS than the ranger? I'd like to see a Guardian reach 5K DPS on anything. Maybe against a moat rat... :smileywink:

Perhaps it was DMG shields, perhaps it was some proc buff cast on the guard instead of me. I don't know.</p>

<div>Guardian CA's as they stand now are low for a reason. They are meant to be a more "Defensive" tank. They are not meant to deal out damage. They are suppose to hold agro with intercept arts and a array of taunts and stances. They are made to get beat on, and as such a prime candidtate for damage procs. This is a very old and well used tactic. There has been a long standing discussion on having reactive procs damage asociated differently to get a more accurate look at Guardian DPS. Dont take my word for it try it for yourselves. Put a balanced group together. Pull some mobs with the MT unbuffed and just using his CA's. Then do the same number and type of pulls with the MT all buffed up with those procs. Just make sure that any procs are just on the MT and not on the Ranger as well. This will give you a good compairison of the DPS between Guardian and Ranger and the value of proc damage.</div><div> </div>
