<div></div><div>I played a ranger in EQ1 and it is fairly obvious that we aren't the same class here in EQ2. Sure we can sill stealth, track, and shoot arrows, but it looks like we lost a lot of our utility skills that we brought to a group. Other than tracking, what skills are the defining traits for a ranger compared to the other scout classes?</div><div> </div><div>Also, i ahve read that at lvl 20 you get some "fluff spells" that are just for fun, but i havn't seen a list for these spells for rangers. can someone point me in the right direction to find these?</div><div> </div><div>I have also looked over the AA advancement tree for rangers and am considering going down the mellee tree of abilities. Has anyone done this and could you provide some input on how our DPS with the mellee AA's compare to archery? Also, since there are a limited number of AA's you can get in EQ2, is it possible to relearn them do try a different path later in your career?</div><div> </div><div>Thanks for any input folks <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></div>

Dirges and Troubys have by far the best  group buffs. Last time I looked and correct me if I am wrong but the swashy and the briggand have group stealth. The only things that a ranger and an assassin will bring to a group is DPS and self buffs.</font></div><div>Also, i ahve read that at lvl 20 you get some "fluff spells" that are just for fun, but i havn't seen a list for these spells for rangers. can someone point me in the right direction to find these?</div><div><font color="#ff0000">The fluff spell are just that fluff you can buy those for 10sp I think from the trainer in elder grove. They dont do much.</font></div><div>I have also looked over the AA advancement tree for rangers and am considering going down the mellee tree of abilities. <div></div><div></div><p>Rangers can slow single targets more than other classes. We have an arrow attack that ups the hate gain of whomever your target is attacking. And we will die before the other classes, so now its like a tank warning system that something is wrong. We have pathfinding.</p><p>thats all i got. All in all, every scout class gets our utility plus whatever utilities define their class... rogues have tons of group aggro management, stuns, slows, and debuffs (plus now more dps than ranga!) Assassins have minor aggro management, and bards are bards. (buff bots)</p><p> sad to see dirges, fury's, zerkers out dps us everynow and then...</p><p> </p><p>*edit* also i suggest you rethink the melee aa path as rangers dont use the skills as often... Suggest Agi or Int line, but thats most def. your call.</p><p>Message Edited by Steezity on <span class="date_text">02-28-2006</span><span class="time_text">05:13 PM</span></p>

<div></div><p><font color="#99ff99">DPS and an awesome ranged attack are rumored to be our defining traits. Once upon a time they were. Actually, LOL, Rangers once defined what <em>DPS</em> was. We were badazzes thanks to a lack of foresight on the Devs part on how our class and its poisons and procs ACTUALLY worked. But they cought that little "bug" (i call it the way it was designed to work at the time) and have now basically brought the class to it's knees. We are in the middle of the pack when it comes to DPS, and at the bottom of the list for true group or raid utility.</font></p><p><font color="#99ff99">As far as fun spells, at level 20 you get a hawk that follows you around, at 40 a bear and at 50 a tiger. They dont DO anything, they just follow you around and look cool.....Hmmm kinda sounds like me on a raid now.</font></p>

<div></div>go play Vanguard they Devs have completly ruined this once fun playable class EQ2 is lame and gets more nerfed everyday and not in a good way they never fix real game bugs instead nerf classes to piles of worthless dung /ranger dont bother spending money on this game wait for Vanguard the devs there listen to the people that play the classes not the shareholders

<div></div>Listening to shareholders would even be ok... i doubt we had any of them screaming for our heads pre lu20...

<div></div>Im a 42 Ranger. I love playing the Ranger class but imo we are broke at th moment. If you starting a new character I would go with a Dirge. They have all kinds of group buffs and at the moment not that far behind us on the dps. thats just my opinion.

<div></div><div></div><div>After LU-20, EQ2 Rangers share at least one trait common to Rangers from EQ Live:</div><div><div><strong></strong> </div><div><strong>Ranger Gate!</strong></div><div> </div><div>[<em><font size="1">LOADING, PLEASE WAIT.</font></em>..] </div><div> </div><div>Seriously, the opposite is probably true.  Ranger Gate is a tongue-in-cheek reference to the fact that Rangers simply are not well equipped to tank, and when forced to do so, die rather easily.  In EQ Live they were DPS Dealers like we, (used to be), in EQ2, and could easily steal aggro from the MT if not careful.  When that happened,</div><div> </div><div><strong>Ranger Gate!</strong></div></div><div><strong></strong> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><p>Message Edited by Mary the Prophetess on <span class="date_text">02-28-2006</span><span class="time_text">07:32 PM</span></p>

<div></div><p>After a full year of talking trash to its supporters, i bought WoW tonight.</p><p>I'll lechall know if ive just been bein a blind fanboi this whole time...</p><p>P.s. for starting rangers, these really are helpful posts... class is screwed. Things are changed constantly, and badly, so the functions of classes tends to drift, sometimes leaving behind the tools to necessary to complete said function. Reroll, or buy a different game.</p>
