<div>I'm a level 50 ranger who generally solos or duos with my brothers 50 guardian.</div><div> </div><div> </div><div>Before LU20</div><div> </div><div>I could take an orange vvv mob easily</div><div> </div><div>I could take a yellow vv mob easily</div><div> </div><div>I could defeat a evencon solo mob easily</div><div> </div><div>A blue ^ or ^^ mob was doable most of the time</div><div> </div><div>A very green ^^^ heroic mob I could kill, but the situation had to be right</div><div> </div><div>Note I never used stun posions</div><div> </div><div> </div><div>Post Lu20</div><div> </div><div>v or lower mobs I have a chance at beating blue or lower</div><div> </div><div>solo mobs I can beat blue or lower, depends on the mob and the area</div><div> </div><div>^ mobs I have no chance against if they aren't green</div><div> </div><div>The only heroic ^^^ mob I've beaten since lu20 was level 35, and it was close</div><div> </div><div>If the mob is a healer, throw all that out because I am lucky to beat a vvv blue mob that heals.</div><div> </div><div>The problem is that all of our damage potential is ranged, so solo we only have 1 or 2 shots at best.  Pre and Post Lu20, if the mob isn't under 50 percent when he gets to me, I can't beat it.  We have chain armor, but so what.  Damage still gets through, and if the mob is in melee range, we have nothing that can hurt it much fast enough.</div><div> </div><div>It seems noone understands all that was done in this LU...</div><div> </div><div>Our damage was dropped significantly(probably about 50%)  But where we lost this damage is where we needed it most of all.  Before a mob got to us.  Further, our only ranged CA that worked while moving no longer does, so a little kiting towards the end of the fight to stay alive is no longer possible.</div><div> </div><div> </div><div>I solo and I do quests.  Only 2 of the quests I have been able to complete since lu20 were higher than green, the rest were significantly below me, most with the mobs grey.  And as I said, if the mob is heroic, 15 levels below me is not enough to make victory likely.  I can't actually play this game and have fun with the way things stand now.  I want to hear that they are going to readjust, but so much we've heard from the devs the last week has been either derogatory(rangers aren't supposed to be the best damage, rangers have been exploiting a "bug", etc) or just out of touch (55%, 4k dps)</div><div> </div><div>I ran parses over my last 2 weeks logs.  Pre lu20, I normally doubled my brother's Guardian in DPS.  Now, I never beat him by more than 10%, and that only happens every now and then.  Even worse, that's grouped damage.  Solo, my dps barely registers.  I suffered through 3 years of broken rangers in EQ1, I'll stick it out a bit longer here, but bottom line is that if I am not having fun, I'll quit playing.  What other choice is there?</div><div> </div>

<div></div><p>You can't kite?  You must be doing something wrong.  I constantly solo the level 61 single up bee mobs on the bixie isle in TT.  The only time I died was when I fell to far on accident and drew aggro from two double up linked level 62 mobs.  However, I've been able to kite the bee mobs and manage to stay in the yellow health range with very little downtime.</p><p>For the most part, though, your post is accurate.</p>

<div></div><div></div><p>Well, I didn't mean I couldn't kite at all, but I haven't had any luck with it since LU20.  With aggro, and no CA's, it just seems to cause me more trouble.  Don't get me wrong, I still do some kiting type action in some of those fights.  It really hasn't seemed to help me at all though.</p><p>Understand, I'm a solo ranger.  I have 1 bought master, t5 crafted for the most part with 1 cobalt piece.  Everything else is adept 3 or below, and quest or crafted no frills gear.  Myabe if I raided or won the lotto I could gear up and perform better, but that's just not in the cards.</p><p> </p><p>Edited: Finished typing the message this time :smileyhappy:</p><p> </p><p>Message Edited by mactell on <span class="date_text">02-27-2006</span><span class="time_text">07:36 AM</span></p>

<div>Can you share your tactics in the Soloers thread? I'm trying to get an idea of what sort of strategies we're taking, because I've been hearing reports of similarly geared and leveled rangers as myself not able to solo the things I find to be rather easy, and I'm thinking it's coming down to utilizing all at our disposal.</div><div> </div><div> </div>

<div>I have the exact same problem.</div><div> </div><div><p>My complaint is that the changes were made based on what a fully buffed level 60+ Ranger, with full 'Fabled'  gear, and all Master level CA's, with the best weapons, bows, and arrows, could do under optimal conditions in raid or group settings.</p><p>I am not THAT Ranger.</p><p>My Ranger is level 42.  He solos 90% of the time.  He wears 'Treasured' gear, has Adept-1 CA's, uses makeshift foraged arrows, cannot afford 'Legendary' poisons, and usually cannot afford to buy three poisons, (so no 'Stun' poisons, because they use up too fast and are too expensive--and rare-- to use against 'Green Cons', which is what I find myself mostly fighting --now).</p><p>I have a total personal fortune of 9gp.</p><p>Can I still fight? </p><p>Yes, but now  I must melee<strong> ^</strong> arrow 'Green Cons' which are 6-7 levels below me, and still loose 60% of my health doing it.</p><p>With no CA's I can use on the move, when I get ambushed by a 'Blue' or 'White' Roekilik Assassin, I am down to 40%.  If it is 'Orange' I will die unless I run.</p><p>Kiting is only possible in certain, limited, areas against certain mobs.  Sure I can Ensnare, and run back a bit, (<strong>IF</strong> there is some place to run back to), and let go a fast CA like Flaming Arrow, and it helps (a bit); but overall, kiting is not a realistic option 60% of the time.</p><p>I can fight  'Blue Con' and 'Even Con' (no arrows) mobs,  but take 60% damage.  It can be done, I still advance, I don't die too often, but;</p><p>My rate of advancement is sooooo slow now.  I must find just the <strong>'right'</strong> area to hunt in, and I dare not take on anything too tough (read that to mean anything over a 'Green Con') in an enclosed or crowded environment.</p></div>

I STILL have NO trouble soloing yellow v MoBs. Even groups of 3 yellow vv and vvv were doable (75%). Heroic mobs are just that: heroic. If you want to be able to take them, you should yourself be heroic, ie fabled gear and master CA's.<div></div>

<div></div><p>i cant imagine that we have any chance at any heroics even close to even con... (without the 40 acres of space)</p><p>and i am that fully fabled, 6 m1 rest adpt 3 spell ranger. On that note, i have no probs soloing anything deemed a solo encounter that isnt orange or red...Unless said mob can slow or stun, in which case i am FUXXED. I hate slows. Imma ranger. Make me resistant or somethin...</p><p> </p>

<div></div><p>I have to admit that I rarely solo.  I have to admit that when I have soloed post-LU20 it has been much more difficult than it was previously.  With that said I also must admit that it is nowhere near impossible to solo.  Yes, I am level 61, with 2 Master I abilities and the rest at Adept 3 or Master 2.  Yes, I am wearing Legendary armor and weapons with 2 Fabled peices from Poets and the Roost.  I can and have soloed blue ^ mobs effectively with little down time.  I can and have soloed even con ^ mobs effectively with a tad more down time.  Yes, we do significantly less damage over time due to less frequent (i.e. almost non existant) procs.  But that doesn't stop my friends and guildmates from gasping when I kill a blue/even con mob in 1-3 hits.</p><p>It also doesn't stop me from duoing quite effectively.  A 61 Inquisitor and my 61 ranger were duoing 63^^^ last night.  It took every ounce of power and health either of us had.  But with good teamwork (and many deaths) we figured out a way to play that proved (at least to me) that I am far from nerfed.  It also proved to the rest of my guildmates that they really, really want me in their group as the Inquisitor is our main healer and he LOVES to put his Inquest spell on me. </p><p>Bottom line is...post LU20 my favorite group still is me, 61 pally and 61 inquisitor.  Nearly unstoppable and very fun to play.</p>
