The "new" Cheap Shot

Well I found what I am spending my first 6 AA pts on. Bounty, Archer's Agility (4) and then Point Blank Shot, the "new" Cheap Shot.Everyone is wondering how to solo those up arrow mobs that cheap shot no longer works on, well here it is:Point Black ShotA short-ranged bow attack that knocks down the target on a successful hitRequires Archer’s Agility at rank 4 to unlock.Max rank 8Cost per rank 1Target EnemyPower 76Casting 1.0 secRecast 1 minRange Up to 5 metersResistability 5% easierEffects:·Inflicts 188 – 313 melee damage on target·Applies Knockdown. Lasts for 4 seconds. Stuns target Throws target back Blurs vision of target If Target is not Epic·If Bow equipped in RangedCorrect me if I am wrong but this is effectively a 4 second cheap shot that works vs even HEROIC mobs AND does at least 188 pts of damage AT RANK ONE to boot.If this works out as good as the description indicates it should then I will be spending AA pts 7-13 raising this to rank 8.So for all of those rangers wondering what to do about our "nerfed" abilities, here is ONE answer.Hope this helps,<div></div>

I do not have this AA ability yet, however according to the description:RANGE Up to 5 metersSounds like "point blank" range to me. It is also called "Point Blank Shot". One would HOPE that they named the AA ability correctly.<div></div>

Another tidbit of information people might be interested in is that the Cryptic Metallic Coat has undergone an effect change.  It has a chance to proc off any CA used now.  Not attacks, just CA's.  Better than only being spells, but i'll get a pic posted later to show people what i'm talkin about.<div></div>

But why do i need to buy an expansion to make my ranger playable (I solo a good bit) again. No thanks SOE, ill passThree reasons.1. Like it or not Sony is in the business of selling games.2. KoS is now part of EQ2, therefore then entire content of EQ2 from level 20-70 is now "balanced" for players to earn, have and use AAs.3. If you are level 60 you MUST buy KoS along with the abilitiy to earn and use AAs in order to continue to "earn" any further "in game" experience.Bottom line is that you CAN play your ranger vs NO or DOWN ARROW mobs pretty much the same way post LU20 as you did pre LU20. The real issue that I have seen personaly and from most of the posters is playing vs UP ARROW mobs including heroics. These mobs WILL REQUIRE you to play differently than you did pre LU20 and in fact may require you to buy KoS, with its added features, in order to do so.It is NO different than a ranger with ONLY app 1 spells and "trash drop" equpitment expecting to solo the SAME mobs as someone with all Adept 3 spells and Legendary equiptment. IT CANNOT BE DONE!!! There are some mobs that you can kill without KoS, there are going to be some mobs OUTSIDE OF KoS ZONES that you CANNOT, just the same way as there are some mobs that you can kill with app 1 spells and "trash drop" equiptment and some that you CANNOT.<div></div>

That's a dangerous path to start down. Alternate abilities should NEVER be a requirement to play the game, especially in new content. Those are alternate forms of advancement. The devs should NOT start designing content around them, or you get the fiasco that was Gates of Discord in EQ1.<div></div>

I have point blank shot at rank 4My damage for it is 288-480 (at 330 strength level 62)It works just fine vs heroics, stuns them real good. (not that I'd try soloing a real heroic, but it is good for those one ups)<img src="http://home.adelphia.net/%7Ecyrl/pbs.jpg"><div></div>

I never ment to suggest that AAs are REQUIRED to play this game. They (like Adept 3 spells, Legendary equipment, etc) ARE required to play SOME of the content of this game. Otherwise why have them??? If you can solo one up arrow yellow mobs ment for an individual with app 1 spells, NO armor, and a rusty dagger, why would you EVERY TRY to loot the mobs for equipment, upgraded spells, etc?? So that you can get the adept 3 spells, the legendary armor, etc that you need to take on these HARD mobs. Same thing with AAs. Do you need them to play ALL parts of this game? NO!!! Just SOME of it, or at the very least it makes that particular PART of this game a LOT easier to play. If you want to solo yellow up arrow mobs you WILL need to meet curtain requirements in order to do it. These requirement MAY change over time, in fact they HAVE changed to some degree 20 times so far (with each LU).<div></div>

Play Vangard?, no thanks, I gave up spending my entire 2-3 hour evening doing a Corpse Recovery when I left EQ1.If rangers are not Tier 1 DPS atm I really could care less. The bottom line for ME is: Am I having fun spending 2-3 hours a day playing this game? The answer for me atm is YES. When it becomes NO, trust me I will cancel my subscription, as I have for every other game that I no longer play.<div></div>
