<div>Let me preface this discussion by I don't believe any adjustments to be made to the ranger.  I honestly don't.  I believe they went to far, but I don't think they'll adjust it.</div><div> </div><div>Having said that....how to optimize my DPS.</div><div> </div><div>Poisons and procs were changed to use the CA time instead of the delay time.  What this tells me is that the autoattack still uses the bow delay.</div><div> </div><div>So....</div><div>That implies that we should be using our haste line every time it comes up</div><div>We should be aggressively pursueing the FBSS</div><div>Opening up with a long delay CA.</div><div> </div><div>What else?</div><div> </div><div>Tobi</div><div>45 Ranger</div>

<div></div><p>Use stream of arrows as often as it is up.</p><p>There are no aggros issues now and this CA  provides consistent 450+ dps for 30 seconds every minute....</p><p> </p>

<div></div><p>I invested in a rare and had my defensive stance made adept 3 ( I hadn't even bothered to pick up the adept 1 of that stance, lol) and I had some Translucent Sting of Virulence made (which is a high DoT poison). It seems that I had a better time holding my own using the defensive stance when soloing and having to melee, and the DoT poison seemed to be much more effective than the DD poison since we don't proc so often now. Granted I don't parse...that's just my impression...but last night was much smoother than the first night. :smileyhappy:</p><p>Also, when all of my CAs were down I kicked on the little buffs that we get (forgive me for not remembering the names) that increase our dps and ranged and ran around the mob in a tight circle with my ranged auto attack on (kiting, ftw - lol) and that helped me do some dmg while I waited for my little melee CAs to refresh. Sometimes that took down the mob way faster than I expected..as in I would still be running in a circle and I'd be like..how long has that thing been dead? heheh - lag ftw! LOL</p><p>I'm very interested to hear other tips and ideas!</p>

Basicly go back and read EVERY SINGLE CA you have again. Then put together a plan for each situation that you encounter.A single one up arrow yellow mob one level above you will be a very different fight than 4 triple down arrow blue mobs 4 levels below you.It will require you to use DIFFERENT CAs in a very different order in order to take down each different encounter. It will also be a much different fight depending on what level you are. A level 20 Ranger will approach each encounter very differently than a level 55 ranger would. In a nut shell you are going to have to learn how to play your ranger all over again. You CAN do it but it is going to take some work. And yes there WILL be some encounters that no matter how hard you try you will NOT be able to do them at your current level. Be patient. If you want a game and a class that will take a bit, maybe even quite a bit of work to learn how to play well AGAIN then please stick it out and you will succeed. If not then this game and/or class is no longer for you. I can simpathize with all of the players who created a ranger and learned how to play them over the last 4-5 months. But this IS a changing game. It is what it is. Therefore as players NO MATER WHAT class we play we will have to change the way we play from time to time because we reach a new level or SOE changes the game. For those that look on this situation as a challenge welcome, for those that think it stinks may I humbly suggest you try a game that changes very little if at all.If you have a specific encounter or situation that you would like some help with I would be glad to share my ideas with you. Just let me know your level, and the details of the situation. Like I said the complexity of this game just got a LOT greater for Rangers. Taking down a single up arrow yellow mob at level 52 will require a MUCH different stratagy than doing it at 20. There is not longer a "general" stratagy that will work for most encounters from level 20-60.Hope this helps,<div></div>

<div></div><div></div><p>We are in rough shape. I can't steal aggro from the MT anymore, it used to be easy. Soloing is painful to do. That said, these are the things I have done for the most success.</p><p> (Please note, I have almost all fabled gear...some of it crap poet's fabled...but fabled nonetheless , other than the legs. (you can see my gear on my profile at EQ2players) I also am lucky enough to have the foreman's shank which has a fear proc -10%).</p><p>First, use the stun poison all the time. 2nd watch maintained spells for the stun poison to go off- immediately back up and bow, or go around behind and use rear attacks. When fear proc goes off wait a few seconds to get some distance then blast away with bow CAs.</p><p>ALWAYS use defensive stance...the other one is pointless now as far as I can tell (talking solo). Use your stun whenever possible to go for specialized and/or bow CAs.</p><p>Using this methodology, I am able to take 1 ^s my level, though it is very slow. I did take a yellow as well....The pain comes from the fact that my guardian killed these type of mobs faster.</p><p>Steadfast- 60 Ranger, Toxxulia (Guk)Ventrous- 55 Guardian, Toxxulia (Guk)Guild Leader- Gold and Glory</p><p>Message Edited by Erendil on <span class="date_text">02-23-2006</span><span class="time_text">12:42 PM</span></p>
