I am quite concerned about the changes in LU20 and as a brand new ranger, i would like your advice on what crafting branche should i choose. I am already on the craftsman path - i can make food and drinks or i can make my own arrows. The ammo is extremely expensive, NPC bought is and player made is just out of my league. But without good dmg in front of each fight i can not survive the melee combat beating. So whats wiser choice? trying to make money on food and drinks to buy the arrows or making the ammo on my own? and will it be really that much worth it? i burn trough a lot even soloing.thanks for your opinion and help

I went alchemist so I could make my own poisons. You will go through poisons like poo through a duck yet your weapons and armor will last 10 lvls.

yes, i considered this one as well but too late as i made the lvl 10 choice already so the quiestion stands - provisioner or woodworker

I think after LU20 you won't go through poisons nearly as fast.

I only use summoned ammo unless I'm raiding so unless you raid a lot or like to have the very best ammo (and pay for it) going ww JUST to make ammo isn't worth it IMO. And it still costs an arm and 2 feet to make ammo at the higher levels. Food and drink you will always need, and provs make a KILLING on the market selling drink.

But it all boils down to this. Try all 3 options before you hit 20, figure out what you like to do, and do that. I tried making crafters to help myself and just hated it, I found that I eventually said, "forget this" and just started asking around for what I needed. If you order a lot of the same thing (ammo or poison) usually you can find someone willing to work out a deal as long as you give them enough notice you will be making an order. And repeat business sometimes keeps prices falling

just my 2 cents

*edit*

Just saw you said you are a brand new ranger. You may not have gotten the backup quiver line yet. you can summon arrows once you get this, and at ad3 you can summon them 60 or 65 at a time. Like I said above I never use anything but summoned arrows unless I'm raiding, and never really had a problem there. Just make sure you get lvl 50 quiver (stonehide?) and keep it full. I've never had a problem running out doing anything but raiding.

Message Edited by Llaereth on 02-18-200608:14 AM

thank you, i think i will do what i like more and thats cooking and brewing - i can stay at one machine only and do not need as much components, subcomponents and stuff.i will have to get better version of makeshift arrows, the app I version makes only 15 arrows in 10 minutes which is far less than i would like. It may be well worth the investment.

Like the others here, I have higher version of the various summoned arrow lines (Master 2 choice for Makeshift Arrows) and I have never run out. Like the others here also, I NEVER buy arrows except to use in raids and against certain mobs. There is never any reason a Ranger cannot summon arrows and use those...for free. They will always work with any of your ranged combat arts. The expense everyone is always talking about are poisons, but that's a very long topic for another day. Best of luck. :smileyhappy:
