<div>First off, I'm a lvl 60 ranger, I have been a ranger since I started playing on day 1, and I will be a ranger till I quit.   I raid a LOT, and I raid high-end content with my guild.  I am the only 60 Ranger in our guild so the others usually ask me all kinds of questions and lately I don't have any real answers and I'm not going to start spouting garbage off the top of my head if it's not right.</div><div> </div><div>Ok, so I understand the proc changes and how they work in comparison to ca's...for the most part anyway (what I don't know now I'll figure out as I go when it goes live)</div><div>I don't come here often unless I have a question but lately I have been diving into the info on the forums about all the changes and how they will affect this and that and now i'm totally lost and confused.  I can't get past all the bickering and fighting about this skill or that spell or the wizzies laughing at us to find the real data.</div><div> </div><div>So please, someone, anyone...please explain to me how this will work, with numbers if possible, after Lu20.  I know what I do for DPS now (it's sick)  and I know where I get my DPS from.  Where is it going to come from in the future though?</div><div> </div><div>1.  Will I need to be buying/making Cobalt arrows and being constantly broke just so my auto attack will give my dps a boost?</div><div>2.  Will it pay to invest in faster weaps now rather then the slower but better chance at proc'ing ones</div><div>3.  Is a short bow faster then a long bow? never had a reason to look before and I seriously can't find a single one anywhere on my server...lol</div><div>4.  What is the proc rate on auto attack (is there even a chance to proc on aa?)</div><div>5.  What poisons will you be using...I'm thinking low low upfront but very large dot.</div><div>6.  Will it pay to still invest in debuff/stun/etc poisons with the low chance of proc now?</div><div> </div><div>Thank you so very much for anyone who can answer these questions.  Back to the game for me <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></div>

I can answer the question on the short bow.  I my ranger is also a woodworker.  The shortbow is indeed faster than the longbow.  The longbow's delay is 7.0 and the shortbow's delay is about half at either 3.0 or 3.5 (not exactly sure which as I only make it for discovery exp then sell the bugger <span>:smileyvery-happy:</span> )<div></div>

<div></div><p>I'm gonna bump this as well because I'm curious about the answers to these questions myself.</p><p>Does anyone  who has been playing on beta actually KNOW the answers to any of these questions and can give us informed answers.  I don't need to know about all the speculation and the guessing as I can do that myself until I'm blue in the face.</p><p>I'm particulary interested in the answers to questions number 1, 5 and 6.  I'd like to equip myself and plan accordingly to these changes to maximize my damage output.  Also I have 80 poison vials that I was originally planning on making into Adeste's but I'm a little bit apprehensive about doing that now.</p><p>Thanks folks</p>

<div></div><p>Not on beta or anything but this is what I'm speculating so far.</p><div>1.  We'll get a new "summon arrow" skill in T7 that will pull arrows of the right tier for us so you shouldn't need to buy any arrows at all, unless you want the "rares" for T7.</div><div>2 & 3.  Weapons with the highest % chance to proc will be best.  Melee weapons it won't matter too much because you're talking very small differences in the speeds for autoattack proccing.  For bows, I'll probably stick with the long bow for better chance at procs from autoattack (the formula for that isn't changing).  What will benefit the longbows more is haste.  Stick with the longbow and try to pile on more haste items is how I'll be looking at things.</div><div>4.  Proc rate for autoattack is the same as it always has been.  Proc rate from CA's (where we got our major damage bonuses) is what was changes.  I don't remember the exact formula but you still have a very good chance to proc with long bow autoattack (you'll see more procs there than from CA's more than likely).</div><div>5.  High DoT poisons will be what most folks switch to I think, I know I will be.  Everyone loved Adeste's because of how much we procced it.  With the reduction in procs, we will be going back to the Pre-LU13 days where you get a high DoT poison to let it do the damage for you while you pray for another proc.  High DD, High DoT would be best, but I doubt I'll sacrifice DoT for the initial DD, plus the new poisons are only DoT now I think.  New being the stuff in T7.</div><div>6.  I think the days of Rangers using Stun poisons to solo mobs are gone.  Debuffs are stuns will be there mainly to help out groups now.  It will be an "added bonus" rather than something you can count on like we have now.</div><div> </div><div>Keep in mind, these are the <strong>opinions</strong> of <strong>ONE</strong> ranger only.</div>

Short bows have a delay of 4.5, and shorter range.  <a target="_blank" href="http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/item.vm?itemId=13845">(Example)</a>Regarding poisons: the tradeskill dev is revamping poisons and potions right now.  There will be one type of DoT poison, one DD, and a bunch of other useful stuff.  (Lifetap, deagro, etc.)  Not all tiers have been completed, though; expect T7 to use the new system for now, but not necessarily the old tiers. For those of us in tiers that still use the old poisons, I'm guessing a lot of times we'll still be better off using high-DD ones.  The old poisons had a "break even" point of 1 tick: after 1 tick, they all do the same damage.  If your poisons last longer than 1 tick (6 seconds) on average, you're better off using DD; otherwise, you're better off using DoT.Certainly before the proc mechanics change, our poisons didn't last that long, because they were always overwriting one another.  But even after the change, autoattack with haste alone still gives us a fair chance of overwriting a proc that early.  Then, too, there's the possibility that the mob will die before the second tick. With the new poisons?  Who knows.<div></div>

There is no way I can summon as many arrows as I use, especially in a raid, unless I spend the day before doing nothing but queueing the skill....</font>
