How does this ability work? IS it the next person who hits the mob that gets the extra aggro? or the next hit (as in i could get the extra aggro)??I tried using this in a group of mostly tanks and it seemed right after i would do it, i would get aggro.

Trick Shot cast Blame on the next hit. So you have to be very lucky (or unlucky) to proc it on the tank, because if Quick Shot, poison or Gleamering Strike hit on Trick shot... you cast Blame on yourself :smileysad:.You can always drop: offensive stance/poison and use a non-imbued bow to pull with trick shot. But imho just pull with Surveil if you have to

I have never used this ability as its supposed to. I always just use it as an extra bow CA. Dunno if it actually IS worth using, just saying that i dont use it for "de-aggro" purposes.

++Xan

You fire trick shot while mob is still beating on healer, but seeing as tank is hitting mob from behind, he gets the boosted hate and mob (hopefully) turns around back to tank.

At least, thats how it seems to be working for me. Tuthfully though, as mentioned above, it usually doesnt quite work out, as something always seems to proc, thus blaming your self

Correct me if I'm wrong on this plz.

lol you guys gotta read the spell, it clearly says that the mobs target is the person to get the hate increase, not the next person that hits it...

And as for your little ranger healer tank trio thing there are many different things that work with that ie rescue ht(for sks) or other taunts that the tank attakcs, when a mob switches targets its cause you are currently higher in hate than the tank not because the healer just hit instead of 999 hate on target 1000 hate over the tank, that was the worst example ive ever seen, and any arguments to this thread ill go get the complete spell desription and post it

cast blame on target of attack , that means if your tank is the target of attack.. he's gettin the hate. IF that wasnt how it worked, it would be a daaaamn dangerous spell to toss around in a raid situation. And personally you can tell the difference if your fighting xxx raid mob and you unleash hell, chances are its comin to you. If you fire off trick shot first, then unleash hell.. you get a little more leverage to go balls out.

In a group situation I usually let the tank pull and start whacking the mob a bit. Then I hit it with trick shot just before I start with the high DPS attacks. This seems to keep the aggro on the tank a bit better than just letting loose. About 1/20 times the trick shot will proc and the tank is between hits and I get the aggro.Thank God for surveil and the evade line then.Buaf 53 Ranger Befallen

This skill was changed awhile back, maybe LU13, and a lot of Rangers (myself included for awhile) missed the change. It use to work that the next person that hit the mob got the hate gain. NOW it works that the person the mob is targetting gets the hate gain for 10 seconds (soon to be 5 seconds with lu20). This means it's a very nice spell for increasing the MT's agro on raids and in groups. For that reason, I usually lead off with this skill on all raid fights to help make sure my MT jumps up the hate list and I don't pull agro, or pull it as easily.

The trick shot line does work. The only problem is if your trick shot procs and the tank's initial taunt is resisted. dooooh

Usually by this time the MT has agro control again.

And don't forget that one that uses up concentration slots, it removes 36% hate when active ( at adept 3 ).

Message Edited by StealthM0de on 02-14-200602:56 AM

You don't want to use trick arrow after you have gained agro. In those occasions you are casting blame on yourself because you are 'the next to be hit' by the creature. If you are turning off all atacks after the shot you are only upping the hate from any procs and posion on the trick arrow but it is your surveil and evade that are saving you. The trick arrow is making it worse.
