if anyone has ever played the ranger class when everquest 1 first came out, and i'm talking like back in 98 or so, when it was Verant and eq2's launch, then LU 19's changes to our class are nothing. I've played only a ranger back then, still, and will into the future. I'm a ranger, and i take the good and the bad, no complaints. Be happy with your class or choose another. Sorry to say this, but i hate it when i see so much complaining. We had it a LOT worse before.

I was a ranger pre-Kunark, and continued to play a ranger until the day I cancelled my account (when I heard the announcement for Omens of War, in fact). I was never uber...if I remember right, I made it to level 62 or 63. I completed my epic, and it was a long hard slog (Hi, hate raids!). I never achieved the sort of AA's necessary to be a damage machine with the bow. I never saw most of the upper end of Luclin, never hit the Elemental Planes, and only barely touched on dragon raiding in Velious.

I loved my ranger all the same.

I started EQ2 in December of last year. I loved it, but certain things about the game irritated me to no end, and then I ended up with no computer to be able to play it on anyway. I quit. Came back in...November? And I love it. Sure, I don't like hearing all the shouting to nerf us, but in some ways it tickles me pink that for once Rangers are on top of the heap in Everquest. It'll probably not last, but there you are. I'm still playing my ranger.

I played my EQ1 ranger up until SOE came out and pretty much said "Archery will not be the optimal playstyle for the ranger," and then went a couple expansions with no bow improvements or archery AA abilities. Since I played my ranger to be a master bowman from the get-go, when that became a "sub-optimal playstyle" I pretty much lost interest in the game.

As long as the same doesn't happen in EQ2, I'll keep playing. If it does happen, I'll still love my ranger--but I will very likely not enjoy the game enough to stay active.

Then they did like a complete 180 and rangers became the bow-kiting gods
