Ok, please don't flame me, and hear me out completely.... I'm sure I'm not the only one that has thought about this, but, I was thinking about betraying my ranger (it hurts just to say that). The ONLY reason for this is, I am at lvl 60 and board out of my skull completely. The only reason I even log Taubin on anymore is to help friends/guildies. I know that the new expansion is coming out, but, it will just be more of the same I'm afraid... I'm just curious if anyone has betrayed already, or been thinking about it... Or, if anyone has any ideas as to how to get out of this rut... Since I have been in it, I have made 2 new toons and got them to mid 30's so, that's kinda out of the question, and doing the same ole instances and writs is sucking now... Any suggestions? Please help a fellow Ranger before it's too late.... /beg

I'd wait for KoS if you're planning to get that and lvl to 70. It's crap raiding as a melee dps anyway. If you can betray back again then why not, go for it.

I would suggest sticking with it as a ranger. I'm afraid if you betray and you can't go back you will end up quiting the game in frustration. You will go from Tier 1 dps to low tier 2. Sony claims Assassins are Tier 1 dps but we are not even close. Most the high end mobs have AE's so we have to spear in and out. Ranger can just stand back and lay down the fire. I don't think you are alone in being bored with the same old instances. I feel a lot of us are in the same boat. It will get better with the expansion and the new content. I'm really glad you made this post...I've been wondering if any rangers wanted to change go Assassin. I know Ranger will be getting a good bit of Assassins betraying but I'm sure there will be few going the other way. As an Assassin I sugest stay with the ranger...If I didn't have so much plat invested in masters and the kindness of guildmembers giving me masters I would betray to be a ranger myself. I'm gonna stick it out as an Assassin and hope they give us a boost in DPS. But it is SOE we are talking about. They won't do anything to fix it till they get the mass exodus of Assassins changing to Ranger. I don't want Rangers Nerfed just Assassins fixed to be where we should be.. A viable DPS class.

Valas

60 Assassin / 60 Provisioner

"Run you will just die tired"

Although my sig says lvl 60 asn I also have a lvl 43 ranger that I am lvling up so I have exp with both classes. To be honest the only reason I am not betraying my asn is because I have already started a ranger alt (that will eventually become my main).

I believe the feeling of bourdom that you are expierencing with your ranger is not class specific, meaning many other class types are going through the same thing (nothing to do but help friends lvl and plat farm). Trust me you do not want to add to your delema betraying to an asn and playing a sub-par class (I hate to say it but it is true). Even after the last LU rangers are far better then assassins at soloing, grouping and raiding (the only thing my assassin is better at then my ranger is dieing :smileysad

I do not mean for this post to be a rant or an assassin cry (I have both classes) I just want you to know what you will be getting yourself into if you do decide to betray to an assassin. I honestly believe (even though many assassins wount admit it) there will be a large number of assassins betraying to become rangers after the expansion comes out. This scares me a bit because it may prompt SOE to concider nerfing rangers more (I hope not) in order to intice people into playing assassins.

Hope this helps

"Luke, I am your father..." :smileyvery-happy:

Seriously though... I know you have been 60 for a while but I think the issue might be not that you are sick of being a ranger, just that you need new content. I know you have been leveling alts at this point, but maybe when KoS comes out you will have a fresh look on Norrath. In the mean time, just have fun with your alts ( I know I have ) and then check out the xpack with new eyes. If it still sucks for you to be a ranger, then by all means betray to make yourself a backstabbing assn. :smileytongue: I will still hang with ya.

"If you only knew the power of the Dark Side..."

Ok ok... enough with the Star Wars quotes.

Message Edited by Jeris Nefzen on 02-10-200611:06 AM
