Disclaimer… NOOB QUESTION SORRY IF YOUR EYES HURT AFTER READING

So I have not been playing everquest 2 for the last year. You see I thought that if a game was made around this whole light vs dark idea it would have PVP… Well after playing WoW and DAoC, I am now backm, and to the game that rightfully still wins out against all others in all the realms a gamer dreams of and now hopefully on February 21 PVP also will be tacked on as an accomplishment for SOE…

Now with all that happy talk here is the big question that I am so consumed by and I can not find a good one way or another answer. I am very excited to be a ranger!!! (something about high dps, range, and a wood elf looks the best I think…) Well the thing is what is better alchemist or woodworking for artisan class? I have read that posions are great for rangers… and then I salivate over the thought of making my own bows and arrows! So then another question is are the best weapons in the game bought, made, or dropped?

Let me finish with thanks for the help to anyone who can answer my long shmeal their… also if anyone has good sites that I can use to look at some loot or other things like that it would be awesome! Thank you much…

the best weapons for a levelling ranger are dropped, quested, and crafted, usually with good alternatives from each venue.the thing to remember is that while you will need a new bow once every 10 levels or so, you will need new poisons almost every day you play. it's very easy to find a woodworker who will make you a weapon or a jeweler who will make you a combat art adept when you need it, but much harder to find an alchemist who will always be there to provide you with the poisons you need.the other thing is that arrows are ridiculous stupid to craft (not the fault of the crafter), so no one really does it. we mostly rely on our summoned arrows and slashing arrows from an NPC vendor for raids.so i would suggest alchemist, especially with the upcoming change to crafting that will make it less time-consuming to churn out a bunch of poison charges.

Message Edited by Fennir on 02-07-200603:53 PM

thanks alot... i guess when i played EQ2 right at launch it made it seem like crafting items would be the best in the game. And what exactly do people mean by i want a bow that procs? Also is this still the game that the easiest way to level is group grinding? or is it soloing? or questing? Thanks again for letting me noob up the postings!
