Now that we're all throughouly depressed, we can all leave this board and go troll on other forums to stir up trouble. Since I can no longer be Robin Hood of Norrath, maybe it might be fun to try being RH of the forums...steal skills and fun from other classes.

Doesn't matter if revenge is paid back hot or cold...as long as you can dish it up over and over :smileyvery-happy:

Heh, while I am not going to go Jay42-style on you (sorry Jay42, you are too positive and happy feely like) the changes are not *that* bad. Sure they aren't great, but we will live, and still have it better than some classes.Imo, our biggest problem is still the single biggest one from before lu19, lack of useful gear (particularly bows /rude devs on the peacock weaps).Ofcourse, maybe my views are slanted.. I am so looking forward to making a Ranger in Vanguard (always have, ever since I found out EQ2 was ARAC/Generic/2 cities (though don't get me wrong, it has improved so much from launch it is nearly not recognizable, it is much more enjoyable)).Merkades, 60th Ranger.Siege, Najena.

Can I continue to play my ranger? Sure, I know the class well enough to adapt. Is that a reason for me to shut my hole and be happy because the entire ranger community got slapped in the face? That might be good enough for you, but I'm definately not going to pretend that I just enjoyed getting chewed up and spat out.

Did you know that wizards and healers now proc on their spells? While I switched to my wizard (because the ranger changes were aggrivating me too much) I noticed that my spells caused proc's, and the healer in the group also had the same problem when casting heals...definately made life interesting for the tank. I noticed no other wizard has been oh so bold to step up to the plate and call SOE on this bug...not a mention anywhere. Well, this wizard is calling SOE on it...it should be fixed.

Hmm, I guess what I have is called apathy, or, just not that big of a hit imo. What we currently are experiencing is nothing to what happened to Rangers in EQLive for so long.Personally, I don't mind you trying to get devs to reconsider changes (however futile...probably), however I just think this is a bit overdramatic. More so that you advocate trolling and stirring up trouble, but don't let me stop you. This is a public board and you offered your thoughts so I offered mine. I just happen to not think the sky is falling.Merkades, 60th Ranger.Siege, Najena.

I can live with all the changes, but the stream of arrows nerf is the one that has me kinda down. I really just started using it a lot in the past few weeks (before I hit 57) to kill stuff in CT for Legendary and Master chests. Considering I had seen a grand total of 5 Master chests in my first year of playing this game (I am casual, and not in a raiding guild) I was excited to know that I could beat triple up green heroics fairly decisively. Now, forget it. I guess I get to pay dearly for getting those 3 Master and 4 Legendary chests the five days prior to LU 19 for the rest of the time I play this game.

I still like our class, but we took a big hit when it comes to solo ability.

We didn't "take a big hit."We were given an overpowered and broken spell when the expansion came out. They tried to fix it once, but failed, and we kept our broken overpowered skill. Now it's fixed. If you 'lost' anything, it was the ability to do things the devs never intended. Also, please don't pretend there was any skill involved in stream-meleeing. I barely ever even did it unless a mob was about to kill me, just because of how lame it made me feel.I did 800-1000 DPS on a T6 raid last night so I'm not really sure what the [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] there is to complain about...

I'm not all happy-go-lucky (not sure how I acquired that reputation, do you read my posts? LOL) but I just don't see the point in whining, melodrama, screaming at the Devs, cursing each other, hating on other classes, pointing fingers, laying blame, and the rest of the futile silliness that often accompanies changes like this. Definitely express your concerns / opinions, yes, but raging over it? Why?

I do not like these changes. As much as I recognize the need for some of them, I'm human - I liked being that effective - and I think SOE, true to form, swung the pendulum too far in the other direction in an attempt to scale back our damage. Most of us knew this was coming, but that doesn't soften the blow all that much.

That said, I'm still enjoying my ranger and still enjoying the game. All in all, we're not in BAD shape, we're just not as well off as we have been these last few months. Life goes on, and I'll adapt and overcome as I have before. I still have my longbow and I can still summon arrows. WOOT!

Even though I'm not very high level atm, as a former high level enchanter in EQ1, I can say having one horribly overpowered skill allowed to remain in the game will cause major issues. In my case, I speak of charm and the infamous nerf of 2004. We were too powerful with charm. We could charm ANYTHING, and haste it and give it pet weapons and it would wipe the floor with mobs. Our charm was so powerful, it was the preferred way of doing group expeditions in one of the expansoins (GoD).From what I've seen of SoA, it was overpowered. It needed to be brought back into scale a bit. I agree with Kae that it was a bit much of a reduction, but that's where constructive feedback to the devs comes in. That's where mature, non-inflammatory statements about issues we see with our class are valuable. And it's also where understanding that reductions like this really are for the good of the health of the game. Let one class get too powerful, and the devs have no choice if they don't reduce its effectiveness but make content harder and harder and harder, and that punishes everyone else. That's not the least bit fair or right.

Yes, SoA was maybe a little too goodie goodie to be true.

But completely ruin its usefulness in solo? Hrmph.

Maybe some other ways could have been implemented for it, shrug. Nevertheless its still a nice CA to use in group situations. I actually like that it DRAINS power. It should maybe drain more of it. Why not make it drain maybe 50% (or more) of out power if used at its full duration. But, if so, maybe add a snare or something to it, so it could be used while solo effectively. Not just for 1 maybe 2 procs max.

++Xan

the devs fixed nothing...all they did was cater to all the other classes (and people who dont know how to play them) complaining about rangers.

for the people who haven't noticed any damage changes, i've been loosing 500 - 1000 dps for 1 CA. fine...the skills were broken? fix them correctly.

If SoA had to have a minimum range (I personally think that's a joke...if I took a real bow and shot someone from 5 feet, I'm pretty sure that arrow would be sticking in them at a nice distance), then increase the rate of fire so SoA shoots more than 2 arrows before getting insane aggro.

This fix is like the fix they did to assassins...great fix...make one of the best skills for a class useless...ask any assassin about their SoA equivallent and they'll tell you how much junk the dev's have made it all in the name of a "fix". The way the skill is today, the "fix" should have been to remove it from the game, because all it is is a resource sink that wont be used.

Adding more ranger weapons to compensate for the loss of the one "bug" that gave rangers a good percentage of their dps

CORRECTLY fix procs...not just take it from rangers and then let casters suddenly proc off spells.

as for trolling, I feel it's only fair that all the other classes get to experience all the headache that rangers received when we're NOT the best dps in the game. for the short fights, yeah, we're the best...take it to the long game, we suck. how many of you can solo CQ3, or Roost with ease? i play several classes as i'm sure others are here, and my wizard dishes out dps like there's no tomorrow...in small raids i've been in with other mage classes, the warlocks / wizards way out dps all the rangers when they dont hold back and try.

Can I still play a ranger? of course I can, because I know what I'm doing, unlike 90% of the people on this game. I find it funny...before the "fix" I tried to avoid kiting because I always found that to be just a bit cheesy...now I find that I basically HAVE to kite and aggitate people even more.

Once again...great fix by SOE devs. If they really wanted to shut the gaping hole that is mage mouths, they should have just reduced the timer on all mage spells by 30% or so. That way the mages can have even more rediculous dps to shut them up and leave rangers where they should have been left...Alone.

Message Edited by illumin on 02-05-200602:19 AM
