View Full Version : Newsflash: Zholain and Kaeros to be neighbors :)
<div>If you've read the Producer's Letter, you've heard about the server consolidation. By a strange movent of Fate's hand, Highkeep (where our esteemed Zholain lives) is moving into my server, Butcherblock.</div><div> </div><div>While I know this move is probably not a happy one for those *being* moved, I have to say from a purely selfish standpoint that I'm of course looking forward to meeting Catareina in-game. A long, long time ago we talked about being on the same server and hunting together, and who knows, that may now become a reality. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></div><div> </div><div>Zho, how are you and your guild feeling about this? I imagine it's probably a difficult pill to swallow. I obviously can't speak for a whole server, but I think you'll like the community on BB, and I hope we can make you guys feel at home. <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></div><div> </div><div>"Won't you be...my neighbor?" <font size="2">When I first started reading the Producer's Letter, I thought to myself 'Dammit. I like Highkeep. We have a great community. This is going to suck.'Then I kept reading, and I saw we were going to Butcherblock, and then I thought 'Well I don't want to move, but there is no choice in that matter now. So if we have to merge, I could not have been more fortunate.' I think it'll be a blast.A lot of my guildies have friends on Butcherblock, but I think in the end we will probably decide as a group whether to exercise our option to go somewhere else or go with SOE's plan. As long as our guild name is not taken, and my character's name is not already taken, odds are we'll go with SOE's plan. And I'm <i><b>really</b></i> looking forward to meeting some of my forum buds in-game <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />"Hi neighbor"</font><div></div>

I have to agree with you, this is the ONLY good thing that I have seen of the whole feasco. I am looking forward to hunting with the best. It does sadden me that we are losing our forum though, I was trying to create a place for the HK community to meet; I started a Market post for ppl with wares to sell, buy and trade, and a Poll for HK to vote on what we would call ourselves (although I closed the polling earlier due to the announcement Highkeepers was in the lead). I hope that BB forums and community is willing if not already doing the same.<span>Highkeep/Ranger/Woodfire--Community Relations (hehe j/k)Trader of collectibles pst me anytime</span>

<div>Yanno they're offering a free char move. If any of y'all aren't happy with where you're going, come to Najena <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> I'm lonely with just Shadowsflame in channel most of the time for company.</div>
<div></div><p>Nope, no Rangers on Grobb at all. lol</p><p>If you ever see me and I say I'm bored, don't follow Vos. I do lots of stupid/crazy things when I get bored. Usually leads to lots of debt. lol</p><p>My guild was discussing this last night, trying to figure out if there were big raiding guildson EF, where they were in content, etc. Should be interesting to see what happens. I know one of the raid guilds on Grobb, Paragon, has already started trying to recruit folks on EF. lol</p>

<div></div><p>Hmm - so Lavastorm is moving to Nektulos. I think it'll be nice to meet lots of new people. I'm hoping that my puter won't crash every time I think 'Qeynos Harbor'..and I sure hope they can come up with an amiable solution to the name issue. It appears my name is not an issue but my bf and a few of our friends all have people with the same name on Nek.</p><p>It will still be great to make lots of new friends and breathe a bit more life into the game, hopefully quite a bit more life into the lowbie zones - as sometimes when we have an alt night and do a /who - we are the only ones in the zone (RE and RoV, aside).</p><p>So any Ranger pals on the Nek server and what do you think abotu Lavastorm moving in?</p><p>...a little excited, a little worried, a little hopeful... :smileyvery-happy:</p><p> </p>

<div>A few here from Grobb... myself, Demlar, Taubin and a few others. We are all good peeps, even if some chose being androgynous wood elfs. We have a good time. I am looking forward to meeting some new peeps and mixing it up with you EF'ers. I just hope that 100 people in QH isn't going to make the game come to a screeching halt every time I want to zone to SS. </div>

Jay, I will repeat what I said in a recent post...You and Zholain are eternally linkedtogether. Not even separated by servers! Can you deny it now?Oh by the way, I come with this package deal also. <div></div>
<div></div><p>You can check your character names here: <a href="http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/players_index.vm" target="_blank">http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/players_index.vm</a></p><p>Just choose your destination server and search on your toons' names. As it stands now, ppl being moved are the ones slated to lose their character names if there's a conflict, but Smed did say they're looking into methods to defer to the older, more active character.</p><p>Zho, you and your guild should be fine - there's no Catareina on my server, nor is there any guild called The Chosen. So I hope that means you'll join us and we'll get to be neighbors after all. <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> We'll have to chat soon and see if there's anything I can do ease the transition for you and your guildmates. </p><p>And yes, Chana, I do remember the 'joined by fate' comment... and yeah, I'm starting to think you were on to something. LOL!!</p><p>Personally, I'm looking forward to this, and not just b/c I get to have Zholain <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p>

<font size="2">We were doing some checking last night and I continued for my own purposes this morning. According to our guild forums, it looks like we're going to proceed with the move to Butcherblock. And for the most part, everyone is <i><b>really</b></i> looking forward to it. I know I am now. Then more I think about it, the more excited I am. It sort of feels like we're moving away from home, but we all admit that the additional guild competition and comeraderie(sp?) will be a great thing. We've only got a few members that will possibly lose their names. But if what Smedley says comes to fruition, most of our mains have been around since launch, so that will possibly allow some to keep theirs. I'm not quite sure how I feel about that, though. I hate for anyone to lose a part of their character that they have grown attached to. It would be awesome if they could just add a masked character to the end of one of the duplicate names. That way there would be a uniqueness for database reasons, and everyone would be happy.Anyway, I'm really looking forward to it. Like I said, if I've got to move, I can't think of a better place to go.And I, too, am beginning to think Chana may be on to something....this just keeps getting weirder and weirder. LOL</font><div></div>

<div>How would you send tells though? I think there'd be a lot of confusion with two names exactly the same. I ran into a lot of name confusion back in EQ1 as well. I was Melisande. We had a Melisandre and an Melisandee and some others, all who came after me. I was an old fart <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> But I kept getting mistaken for them. Then when we merged with Veeshan, it was even more confusing.</div><div> </div><div>So I can only imagine what the same names with masked chars on the end would do.</div>

I'm pleasantly surprised at how ppl seem to be taking it, at least according to the threads on the BB forum - most HK players seem to have a good attitude about it, and I think most folks on BB will be welcoming.</p><p>We already have an interesting name conflict - Lilae, fellow ranger and a guild leader on Highkeep, has the same name as one of my sweetie's alts. <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Go figure. Unfortunately, she doesn't want to delete the alt, but she doesn't want to force Lilae on HK to change the name of her main. We're hoping that SOE gives us on BB the chance to change the names of our toons without having to just delete them altogether. It'd be nice to be accomodating if possible, esp. when it's someone's main.</p><p>I'm really glad to hear you're excited about it, Cat - I'm definitely looking forward to it. I just meant that right now, it seems like we on BB can only accomodate an incoming HK toon (with the same name) by removing that character from BB. In the case of Lilae, we would hate to force Lilae of Highkeep (who is a high 50s ranger, a guild leader, and obviously has invested a lot of time and effort into her character) to adapt the name of her main, especially b/c it's just an alt of Amalia's. But it seems like the only thing Ama could do to enable Lilae of HK to preserve her toon's name is to delete the alt that's causing the conflict.</p><p>That said, we haven't tried or seen anything about proactively petitioning for a name change. If possible, I bet Amalia would petition and just change the spelling of her alt's name, so Lilae of HK could join BB without having to change her name at all.</p>

<font size="2">Aye. I suspect that situations like this are bound to arise. Regardless, it really stinks that anyone would have to lose their name. Hopefully BB Lilae and HK Lilae will get some solution from SOE that will be as unobtrusive as possible.</font><div></div>

<div>Lol yeah sounds about like what alot of us do Dem. I was testin out exactly how far I could safe fall in the mage tower in south qeynos the other night. Made it pretty far. I think the yellow floor was just a bit too high. I hit part of the small landing on the way down and put an end to my high jumping for the night right there. Boredom can be pretty painful. Right on though, it'll be cool havin some new people over there. EF is a pretty cool server in general. I think you guys'll like it.
