Nope, teh armour looks just the same regardless what race you are.. females look fortunately slightly different than males thou <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />The race itself also doesnt matter in the long run...Boring? Maybe so, hopefully they change this somewhat in the future (supposedly when they release KoS, some advanced costumes etc are available to different classes or sumthing...)I'd kinda like the old D&D rules where you'd have to be a member of certain race to be able to play certain classes, wouldnt prolly fit into a game like this thou.++Xan<div></div>

I know the racial traits will affect damage (Ogre has more strength then an Elf does). I went with a Kerran, because of the Sonicvision. I hated the Infravision of the Elves. Now I never need to have a Torch with me when it's dark. Just put on my sonicvision. Plus, it's cool to be a cat. Gives new meaning to the Cat-like reflexes that all of us Rangers have. :smileywink:

<div>In the long run play what u want to look like, only thing u should look at are racial traits each are diff for each race, i don't have a list of them, but kerran have a nice porc buff that 20% to hit 46 slashing damage, it will last for 3 mins and 30 min recast not bad for a ranger.</div>
<div></div>Wood elf here. Same as Kerran, we get a piercing proc buff (Brutal Barshings) that hits for about 52 for me, 20% chance, 3 minute duration, 30 minute recast. We also get infravision which I've only found to be useful when looking for mobs underwater.

Ogre Ranger here, I dont think race REALLY matters, but I do have a higher STR than AGI and do tons of damage.<div></div>

<div>Kerra here. I went with a kerran ranger b/c we feature male models and b/c c'mon, we're predators! It totally fits. IMO kerra make an ideal race for rangers, but it really is just a matter of preference. Plus, kerra males have the best physique in the game. Kinda feel bad for them teeny lil' wood elves.</div>

<div></div>56 half elf ranger here.In the begining the race matters. As your race razes up certain stats.IE Agility or strength. The higher you go the less it matters and it becomes all about your equipment. As you basically get your stats from equipment.Want to hit hard, get st. equipment.

<div></div><p><font color="#ff0000">I went with the half-elf more in tribute to my very first role played character WAYYYY back in the original Diablo days. My human male "scout" was married to a female elf "scout" (played by my long time gaming partner) and I guess this would be the offspring of the two of them as she no longer plays. I don't get it. How can all you furless rangers judge the wind without whiskers? How can you smell anything with those collapsed faces? It's a wonder you guys don't fall over more than you do, without tails. Don't even get me started on your tiny beady eyes.Kerrans seem to be the only race that can come close to Ratonga at ranging prowess. Of course, they're big and awkward, and it takes a truly bafoonish monster not to see a Kerran hiding. But they are tall, so they can use powerful bows.<div></div>

<div></div>I'm a barbarian, mainly just because I felt like it, you know how it goes. Dont regret it at all, and last time I checked, been a long time now, I was the only level 60 barbarian ranger on my server lol. I do like the traits barbarians get though I'll say that. But I never really messed with too many other races on my characters to compare with.

Can anyone help me gain some clarity on this? Did they make this change without any thought whatsoever? I mean.. why not just eliminate racial stats then? <div></div>Okay I admit it...I chose a Human. Yes, yes I know they're monumentally boring, etc. etc. But at the time I started EQ2 I was essentially new to MMORPGs (Morrowind veteran here...) and thought I should choose something from a roleplaying perspective that was really just an extension of my real self. <div></div>wood elf here. and as for ideal races, my perspective is that the 5-10 point difference you see at character creation are pretty washed out by the time you're high level with all the stat gear you get etc. so that 5 points is like 2.5% difference at 200 str or 200 agi or whatever. Play what looks good to you - it all evens out in the end, though it may be a bit more challenging in the lower levels if you choose a "stat challenged" race for your ranger

A handsome Barbarian here. We Barbarians do get racial traits that I think are helpful, but I simply love the race regardless. Any alt I role is another Barbarian 95% of the time - though I am toying with the idea of making a DE Assasin after LU 19.Best advice (even though it's cliche), is to role a race you enjoy. Stat-wise - it isn't going to make a big difference....Though, we could use a few more dwarfs in the game (don't see nearly enough)! <span>:smileywink:</span><div></div>

I searched for "ogre ranger" and came across this thread. I got a notice in the mail that I get my account free for 1 month (until november 4) or something. I played when the game first came out. I was the first ogre ranger in the entire game (checked all servers) and the first up to level 40 where I quit.that was years ago. I chose the combo because I wanted to be the rarest race/class there was and I succeeded. Anyways I enjoy being ogre ranger. Was fun. good dmg.Gonna try this game out again while its free. Its nice to see others fallowing in my footsteps.I'll be on Crushbone as Unoid.
