Part of the reason I quit a year ago was because, after a certain amount of time, it seemed like the only thing I was doing was grinding. How do you guys keep yourselves entertained while leveling? Most of the quests I've come by are pretty dull, just a go out and kill x number of y beast and come back.<div></div>

Oh! Lots of things to do!First off, of course, it's good to have friends and/or a guild. This is a social game, and if you don't have contact with other people, then you're missing out. Chat with people with whom you group. Join some of the chat channels. Take note of the guilds people are in. When you're in a group where a couple people are in the same guild, notice whether they seem to be having *fun* together.<b>Explore!</b> Scouts are great at exploring. And the game even gives you xp for it. Find every nook and cranny of every zone. When groupmates scratch their heads wondering where to find some particular type of creature or some landmark, be the guy who says, "I know where that is. Follow me!". Be sure to try the quest, "The Journey is Half the Fun."<b>Crafting!</b> Not everyone likes it, but lots of folks do. Give it a try.<b>Harvesting!</b> Whether or not you craft, you can get some valuable stuff harvesting. It's best to keep all of your harvesting skills up - don't favor one over the others. Rare metals can sell for a lot. So can some collectables.<b>History!</b> There are lots of stories out there to be found. If you've got a knack for lore, seek them out.<b>Quests!</b> Well, a lot of them do come down to laundry lists of things you have to kill. But some are very satisfying. Here are some types of quests that you might want to dabble in:+ Access: It's really satisfying to be the guy with the key to get your group where they need to go.+ Collections: Lots of neat shiny things in the ground. + Language: Don't you want to know what those giants are shouting at you when they try to kill you?+ Lore & Legend: Master knowlege of lots of different enemy races, and earn trophies to hang in your room.<b>Decorating!</b> Some people take great pride in having a nice home.<b>Trading!</b> Make a living by watching the market. Buy low, sell high.<b>Fall in love!</b> Find yourself a girl with big bright eyes, shiny fur, delicate whiskers, and a long sexy tail.<b>Jump off of things!</b> Er, just because it's fun.<div></div>

Oh man I love jumping off of things now! A year ago, I was always hesitant to try really high jumps, but with the new conciousness system, I'm free to do whatever I want! <span>:smileyhappy:</span><div></div>

Back in EQ1 I didn't really understand the Monks' love of Safe Fall, but now I just love flinging myself off of cliffs. I get excited every time I hit new high damage mark. Last night I darned near killed myself near Oracle tower - <b>1699 points of damage! </b> Woo hoo, I can't wait to get back.<div></div>

<div></div><p>LOL - watch out for Nmars Ascent! I guess I was 40 something the last time I passed by there, figured my safefall was high enough and so I decided to take the leap - of - doooooom! ROFL!</p><p>So does anyone else get roller coaster butterflies occasionally when you jump from an extra tall spot?</p><p>Ooooh and have you ever had people on Auto Follow and forget - decide to work on your safe fall and realize that you just murdered your whole team? ROFL - I guess I'm twisted...cause I have never laughed so hard in my LIFE!</p>

I had received bad advice - that the docks to Antonica were in the Northwest part of Nektulos. (This was in the first week after the game's release; there were no maps or guides that covered this.) I was stuck up in the Bone Lake area once I figured out I needed to go south. I knew I'd never survive running down the ramps of the Ascent, and feared that if I died, I'd end up at Bone Lake again. So I screwed my courage and took a sprinting jump from the top, figuring I'd die, but respawn in the lower area of the forest. Much to my surprise, I landed, unhurt, just past the guards at the base of the ramp. I kept running, amazed, as the skeletons tried to grab my tail.Later, when I was doing my JBoots run in Nektulos, I routinely jumped from the top. For some reason, it wasn't nearly as dangerous as it looked. It must have been a bug, though, because the jump later became routinely lethal. Ah, memories!</span><div></div>

<span><blockquote><hr>brandi7920 wrote:<div></div><p>So does anyone else get roller coaster butterflies occasionally when you jump from an extra tall spot?</p><hr></blockquote>The first time I jumped from the little bridge at Oracle Tower in Antonica was the first time I had enough time to think to myself "Hmm..., maybe this is a little higher than I thought..." That's part of the excitement nowadays and what made me so giddy when I found a higher spot last night. When you expect to hit the ground and realize you're still falling... heh heh.</span><div></div>

<div></div><p>I took 1000+ damage the other night in splitpaw upper tunnels. Fell off the cliff, accidentally, right at the beginning. When I hit the ground, I figured, "ah well". Then I realized that I was still alive. had something like 4 health left - the health bar was totally gray. Glad I was stealthed...</p><p>Express Elevator - going DOWwwwnnnnn.</p>

<div>The one spot I am curious about is the cliffs in Sinking Sands, right by the entrance to Hidden Cache, has anyone made that Jump Alive? I haven't mustered the nerve to try it.......its a loooooooong way down!!</div><div> </div><div> </div><div>But the first reply nailed it, there is plenty to do, I only "grind" about once per week, I can't stand sitting there in the same spot for hours on end killing the same crap over and over again, but, alas leveling is a critical function of the game. There will be times where you just really want to XP to ding that next level. </div><div> </div><div>Heritage quests, learn them, do them, love them. But I would recomend getting guilded before so, that way your guildies will love you for the status the guild receives.</div><div> </div><div> </div><div>Challenge yourself, as you grow up as a Ranger you'll learn a new skill, one that is not listed in any skill list, but it is called Kiting, this ability once you learn it will allow you to kill Yellow can Heroics, with relative ease. Just takes patience and practice to master, hell I'm still learning.</div><div> </div><div>Get guilded, network yourself and try to group with as many people as you can, alot of the players that you play with at low levels, will have higher level alts at this point, and you'll find alot wicked nice people out there willing to take you under thier wing so to speak.</div><div> </div><div> </div><div>Don't race to 60 (or 70 when expansion comes out) try to experience as much of the content as you can as you level, explore new zones, not just the hot XP spots.</div><div> </div><div>Other then that..........have fun dude, wish you well.</div>
