Recently I've decided to roll up a ranger and try it out. I'm curious though, what stat determines bow damage? is it str like pure melee? I'm just really curious how i should prioritize my stats at lower levels and know what i should be aiming for. yes yes i know this is a noob question but i cant seem to post in the newbie yard forums for some odd reason. Thanks in advance =)

Str effect all your dmg, from bows to most dmg from combat abilities. Also INT effects the dmg of procs, poisons so also a good stat, though str comes first, once you can get near caping str in groups, goto int.Nice thing is later level, there are a good supply of items to buff str and int, some which have both on them. Not always the best mitigation but, soloing you won't get hit alot, and in groups you shouldn't either. For times you do tank some, keep some armor handy to buff mitigation. I keep a shield and 1hs handy plus diff boots and helm. Also, when you start thinking about raids, specialized resist gear is around for diff resist types for helms, shoulders and few other pieces, those are a good thing, cause closer to 4k you can get a resist the better for raids where you can't avoid the ae's as easy.

For dps in relation to rangers, strength is king. Second, surprisingly is intelligence, because it increases the dmg of our poisons and proc's. Agility is a by-product on most of our gear and affects our power pool and avoidance, but running low on power isn't something that plagues us very often and the best way to avoid being hit is to have the mob dead before it gets to you. Stamina is helpful in cases where the mob does get to you, but once again, you are a ranger and will tank as well as a level 12 mage when you are in your offensive stance, so the basic idea is to not get hit. Hope this helps.

Also, make sure you stay with high delay bows (aka longbows) and get weapons with different procs on them (weapons with the same type of proc won't proc on top of each other, only one will go off, but if each of your duel-wield weapons has a different proc and your bow as well as a different one as well, all 3 can go off on each bowshot, proc's are one of the main components to our dps). The high delay on the bow doesn't affect our CA's, but does affect the percent chance for our proc's to go off. Remember this as you pick your weapon/bow set ups.

Helspawn, 59 Ranger Oggok

Procs are your friend .. an imbued longbow .. even if not legendary would be much better then maybe Stormfire or other bows that may have better stats.

Most important heritage quest : Axe from the past .. saves a lot of money if you don't need to buy drinks anymore :smileyvery-happy:

Great advice guys, thanks a ton. Few more questions though, what type of procs should I be looking for on my bow? I'm not really aware of all the different poisons/procs out there atm.
