<div>Ok, this might sound a bit newbish, but bear with me.</div><div> </div><div>I have a fellow ranger that I group with on occasion and he completely baffles me. He is level 53 (last I saw him) and instead of a combination of dual weild weapons, he is most often using an imbued cobalt longsword and SBS. Am I wrong in thinking that he is severely gimping his damage? I don't have a parser, so I've never checked to see how he does. </div><div> </div><div>Need some opinions from you guys, cause you're a lot better at this whole advise thing than I am <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />.</div>

<div></div>Well its an interesting option, but I think the stun on the shield has such a low % to proc its probably not worth it. It's rare that a shield + sword combo is any good. Now if you had that decent proc t5 shield (forget name and who from) then it might be worth it. Also does your friend have an imbued ironwood bow? If so that imbued cobalt is worthless as well.

<div></div>I am curious about this -is this really worthwhile. I have always been told and read - always go Dual with a Scout class. He is not Tanking is he?

I have a question... how much does he actually melee? I hardly ever melee since I am usually with a tank... I'm not sure if the stun will proc while using a bow, but, if it does, it might be worth it... *shrug*<div></div>

<div></div>Whenever I've grouped with him (on either my ranger or my alt SK) he hasn't been tanking. I asked him once why he wasn't dual weilding and he told me that dual weilding was for sissies, so I suppose I should just consider the source. Pretty sure he has an ironwood bow, I'l have to check again next time I see him.

<div>Interesting comment-I would assume Dual would be tougher since your Mit would be down compared to a Weapon/Shield Combo. I can assume he just wants to be different.</div>

I have briefly experimented with my SBS and an imbued weapon. I couldn't do it! I had to go back to my PGT in my off hand! If just felt so wrong! I've dual wielded since as soon as I figured out how to dual wield. I don't think I've ever seen my SBS proc while I was experimenting. Now a better shield with a better chance to proc would be ok. I did seem to take less damage/hits with the shield, but it also seemed like it took me longer to get the Mob down to (which only makes sense). Nope. I'll stick with duals. I would like to Duel this Ranger and see who lasts longer and then we'll see who the sissy is. LOL. :smileyvery-happy:</p>

I think the sword and board are for sissies <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />Well, IF you're tanking as a ranger... then maybe... but... not really... eheh.I'd really love to see us capable to use atleast WOODEN 2h weapons (staves atleast)... those would be more _rangerish_ than sword + shield imo.Tested once with sword and shield... didnt like it. The dmg wont suffer if ya shoot the most of the time thou... Could have it benefits in some cases, but thats just not for me.++Xan<div></div>

I use dual-wield for cases where I'm going to be meleeing a decent amount. But that's pretty rare in groups. When I'm strictly using a bow, I equip <a target="_blank" href="http://eq2.ogaming.com/db/items/XillasBugZapper.php">Xilla's Bug Zapper</a> for the proc, and a shield for extra protection. If I'm never getting hit, and never meleeing, the PGT proc isn't as valuable to me as the Zapper's. (I don't have a SSoY yet, or any other good procing DWs.)<div></div>

<span><blockquote><hr>Sirlutt wrote:<div><span>If your using the bow only, wouldnt the power proc be nice ?Hows the proc on the bug zapper compared to say an imbued crafted, or imbued legendary weapon for you ?</span></div><hr></blockquote>I almost never run out of power. I haven't raided much - maybe then. But for regular 1-group fights, the PGT's power boost isn't needed. (I'm thinking of switching to NPC-bought drink, too.)My understanding is that Glimmering Strike on a sword won't proc on bow shots. But most other effects - like the PGT's or the Bug Zapper's - will. So as I understand it, an imbued crafted sword wouldn't help my archery at all. Of course, I do give up some stats this way, and the zapper is unimpressive in melee.</span><div></div>
