<div>Well last nite was in a group in The Clefts of Rujark fighting the 54 triple up heroics upstairs (which is sweet xp btw even in a full group with some level 60's in it).  But back to the soloing question right out before us was a 52 Ranger like myself soloing the exact same mobs that my full group was fighting.  I fought temptation to spam him how he was doing it and decided to post here.  I tried it after the group broke up and almost had my butt handed to me and had to escape to the zone.  I have a full set of cobalt armor, Imbued Ironwood long bow, blah blah, and and all my CA's are adept III's or better, and still can not for the life of me figure out how he did it. </div><div> </div><div>I can tell you I was mighty impressed and enjoyed watching one of our brothers handing out dirt naps to those mobs, and would love to do it myself.   </div>

<div></div><div>He/She was using stun posions FTW! Phantasmic Visions will let you solo alot of stuff especially with Stream of Arrows. I have solo' yellow ^^^ when I need to with Phantasmic Vision, Bite of the Shissar, and Adestes Disruption. It is fun but really expensive way to solo. I usually only do it when I need a mob for a quest and no one is around to help me.</div><div> </div><div>With Stream of Arrows your stun posoin can proc so much that the mob can barely hit you. Jsut remember that there are only 70 proc from a stun posoin and with stream of arrows on ^^^ that could be gone within 4 fights. Try it and I am sure you will get a kick out of it. I always keep a couple of vials in my backpack in case I come across a named I really want to kill.</div><div> </div><div>Elbryan</div><div>59 Ranger</div><div>Everfrost</div><div>Blind Guardians</div>

<div></div><div></div><p>3 words, Translucent Phantasmic Visions; it's our post 50 stun poison, and if you want to solo those big mobs, it is a must have.  I never go anywhere without at least 7 or 8 vials of the stuff in my bags.  Also, use the best legendary Teir 6 poisons you can buy for dmg, namely Translucent Adeste's Disruption.  Also, your trap is critical as well (Thorny Trap) as it is great for locking down a named that has friends, as well as being a great second line of defense in case the mob gets too close if chain stuns from your poison don't keep it held in place.  It is much more difficult to solo ^^^ named pre-55 (but definitely doable), since once you get stream of arrows, you can open with 3 or 4 of your big hits, mob will stay stunned, turn on stream, and stream will keep it chain-stunned most likely until it's dead.  When soloing ^^^ mobs pre-55, space for running and snaring mobs is much more critical than when you hit 55 and get stream.  Once you get stream, stream + stun poison + DD poison = uber soloage in cramped quarters (that is unless the mobs tend to run inside the walls like they do in CT, making stream stop shooting).</p><p>All that being said, yes, I have had many a good time here and there soloing triple ups with a full group killing same mobs right next to me and me killing 2 for their 1 and getting spammed with tells from them on how I was doing it. </p><p>One other thing you can and should do is get your stats cranked via gear where they should be.  Focus on Str and Int gear and buy potions that enhance these.  I find the str/stam potions are more useful to me when soloing, since the extra hps are useful for when i get hit and the str helps my dps.  I like the int/wis potions in groups since with other classes buffs, my str is usually maxed and the added intelligence cranks up the dmg my poisons and procs do.  Also, use your stances.  Always pull with offensive stance on, the difference in dmg is very very noticeable.  If the mob makes it to you, switch to defensive stance, snare it, stun it with cheap shot, back up shoot it, listen for your stun poison to go off, switch back to offensive stance when it does and unload some more arrows via your CA's into it.   On really tough mobs, a strat i like to use is to put my trap down half way between me and max bow distance.  I pull and unload everything I can into mob until it resists a stun from poison.  At that poiint, mob runs over my trap, gets locked into place and allows me to back up a bit and light it up again with my CA's.  I use this techique when soloing the named in Roost, since if they make it to close quarters, they stun and silence and the fight goes very bad for me at that point lol.</p><p>Well I hope this info helps, invest in the best gear, poisons, and upgraded CA's and with a little bit of hard work, a smattering of luck, and a handful of deaths (yes, you are gonna die while you figure out how to make this work, but stick with it, it's worth it in the long run) soon you will find yourself dropping mobs that take entire groups and newbs across the zone will come running up to you and praise your name.  Best of luck and safe hunting to you!</p><p> </p><p>Helspawn, Ranger 59 Oggok </p><p> </p><p>P.S.  While this can be an expensive way to get experience, I have found that I usally make double back the cost of poison used from selling the vendor trash I get from soloing mobs after a night of exping this way, ie lets say I spend 50 gold in poison for a session, usually make 1+ plat back in vendor trash, so IMO, the poison pays for itself and some, so don't sweat the costs too much.  Also, if you are soloing named mobs and get master items/spells to drop, the cost of the poison becomes trivial at that point.</p><p>Message Edited by Grignak on <span class="date_text">01-19-2006</span><span class="time_text">07:57 AM</span></p>

<div></div>OK.  I can't figure out what the diference is between cajoling whispers and phantasmic visions.  Both say they stun the mob for x seconds.  Can anyone shed some light on that and if you know, what is the difference between these and the stiffle poison?  Thanks

Also, one thing no one mentioned is when your grouping with 60's, specially ones that have exp disabled, you get a portion of thier share. Sorta a easy way to get awesome exp is get 5 60's all with xp disabled, to run you through a few hours of epics in clefts. You'll think you had vita + xp potions+ just huge bonuses going. Cause xp will fly =).Also, for those running short of cash from getting gear. There are poisons with dmg nearly that of Adestes but alot cheaper. THose are nice for those times when cash is slim or your trying to save for more equipment. With the server i'm on Adestes normally goes for 14gp per poison, so adds up fast, specially in xp grinds when you hit 200 procs inside 30mins time. You'll burn through poisons fast in those times, so using a lesser dmg but good dmg backup is alot better, specially when its maybe 4gp -6gp compared to 14gp like in my servers case. Also, don't forget poison changes coming soon, Don't throw down to much coin into poisons, mainly buy what you need for a few days only, or day at a time. This way your not stuck holding some worthless new poison that was replaced by the new patch. From reading it, looks like this will roll out with LU 19 also, which is 2 wednesdays from now. This is going to be a big change in what to buy for when, cause alot of different styles of poisons coming. Some strait DD's, some dots, some life taps, and no word yet of amount of procs either. SO dumping several plat into poisons like some do now, may be a big waste. Also pre-55, watch the pathing of mobs, you can position yourself in a pathing area which makes mobs run around to get to you. THis gives you extra 1-2 CA's at times and anything extra is nice. Pathing does play a big roll in kiting also, so knowing where a pathing area leads mobs off instead of strait at you is very helpful, and can turn the fight alot faster to your favor. Also your gear is a big roll. You can beaf stats fast with proper weapons and armor. Also don't forget like procs don't proc from your bow, so in times of soloing when your not in melee much, get a weapon thats not imbued, with str stats, one being a Pristine Forged Cobalt Spatha, 13agi 15str, also for those not wanting to spend coins much to get soloing stat weapons, Lava forged short swords have 15str on them also. Makes a good partned for pgt in those times. Also while i hate camping things for loot, Dread Sattar in Feerrott has a chance to drop a fabled DW dagger with a nice proc. Shattered Fossil Dagger is its name, has 10str 6agi, with a 92-120 dmg proc on it, which is procable from bow in either hand, just like PGT. Btw, the hand you put a weapon in also seems to determin the proc rate some also. Main hand procs more then offhand. Or so it seems for me anyhow. I keep PGT in offhand and that dagger in main, both proc alot power stays full, and get added dmg of the t5 fabled procing weapon with bow shots. Plus its a poison based DD proc, so if you use poison debuff poisons it just makes it hit even better. Other decent proc weapons in the Miner Motivater and there is another one i forget its name, but neither are that costly on broker and work well from either hand. the 30-50dmg they do as dots don't seem like a lot in t6 areas but it adds up still. Atleast till you can get into prismatic or other good fabled t5 weapons from deception raids, like the DW  weapons droped there. So don't forget about your proc weapons, and non-imbued weapons for stats and added dmg.<div></div>

<div></div><div>Thanks lots of great advice.  Hit 54 and now half way through the level and cant wait to scribe Steam of Arrows.  Dont know why but I am very excited about scribing this.  As for the poisons I have been using the ones suggested and well as you can see they work nicely have done the solo and group thing not like a mad man and since I dont have a huge amount of time to play going up two and a half levels in a couple of days in very nice for me.  As for the weapons that is my next upgrade I am still sporting the SBD and PGT.  I do have the t6 imbued ironwood just my main and off hands need some attention now.  Thanks again for the advice and just another quick question what are some of you guys highest hits with the bow?  My highest hit is <span class="capitalize"><span class="field_data_large">2,584 Damage with the pristine imbued ironwood long bow.  Thanks again guys</span></span></div><p>Message Edited by Kasman on <span class="date_text">01-23-2006</span><span class="time_text">01:09 PM</span></p>

<div></div><div>FWIW, there *are* no heroic opportunities that utilize bow attacks. Unfortunate for us, but that's the way it is. I don't really know what my highest bow hit is, maybe 7,000 or so with Sniper Shot, but that's just a guess.</div>
