imbued ironwood bow is your most important purchase, and if you're using anything but prismatic/pgt/fableds w/procs in your hands, a cobalt melee weapon (or two) is your second most important purchasethe only cobalt armor i would recommend is: imbued chest, NON-imbued legs (getting stuck in combat is stupdi), bracers, and maybe boots.best bet after the weapons is to save your money for pearls and vanadiums to upgrade your bow attacks, buffs, and deagros<div></div>

<div></div><div>Imbued leggings can proc a damage spell if you are attacked by a mob. This can be bad if you are training through a zone to get somewhere and the proc hitting the mob locks you into combat - your run speed drops and leaves you more likely to get stunned / killed.</div><div> </div><div>Or sometimes you can break an encounter, start running then get locked back in as you leggings proc and have to re-break all over again.</div><div> </div><div>I stopped using imbued pants because the damage benefit always seemed low vs. the risk of getting locked in combat during travel. Even if it's not that dangerous it can get annoying.</div><div> </div><div>Mirdo.</div><p>Message Edited by Mirdo on <span class="date_text">01-13-2006</span><span class="time_text">12:52 PM</span></p>

<div></div><p>I've replace several pieces of equipement due to them having procs and locking me into an encounter. When it happens with several groups it can be near impossible to /yell it. This was especially evident in Living Tombs while doign the Peacock questions. Lots of training to be done there.</p><p>As for upgrading your gear, I think it would probably be a good idea but I would upgrade skills first. Just remember while cobalt is going for 1pp on your server, just imagine how much teir 7 is going to be selling for.</p>

<div></div>DOing a little extra harvesting wouldnt hurt either, I have not bought a single T6 rare because I harvest every extra second.

<div></div><p>I *might* buy the ironwood, but generally I gotta agree with Thump - I've harvested all my T6 rares myself, except for 2 vanadium clusters that I saw on the market for a ridiculously low price. Just wait til you hit 50 and get harvesting in Sinking Sands, you'll find an ironwood in no time. That s/b your highest priority, weapons next, then armor. Overall I wouldn't spend much or any money buying rares when you're still in your 40s.</p>

To be honest, in the amount of time you'd spend harvesting, you could be killing mobs for drops to buy rares.  Which is a lot more fun than clicking rocks and wood.  =P<div></div>

<div></div><p>/shrug</p><p>I didn't say "Only harvest and do nothing else." I found the ironwood that made my bow on the 2nd day of DoF. That weekend, I found two more ironwoods and my first cobalt, and I didn't spend that long harvesting. And I hunt *while* harvesting, so I get loot from drops, adventuring XP, chances at harvested rares, and the fun of wholesale murder all at once.  <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p>

Yeah, when they released DoF, rares were "less rare".  After the first 2-3 weeks of release, it became painfully obvious that they'd nerfed the rare rate again.  Definitely harvest if you want, but I feel very badly for the people who spend hours a day out there tryng to farm full sets of cobalt, etc.<div></div>

I'm almost the exact opposite, I buy all most all of my rares. (But don't think I skipped anything, I have every adept III from level 40 up. [Except the defensive stance, AS IF] plus full cobalt/vanadium). I was able to afford this because I didn't go for XP groups. Instead from level 44 -60 I level almost exclusively doing writs. Farming mobs over and over, and collecting small amounts of coin, small amounts of status, repetitively. (P.S. Fix the Priest Writs!)

Items are only as good as the stats on them for a ranger. Would actually sugest doing Saving souls getting Golden efreeti boots good power regen, and alot of int, which imo is better then agi unless your taking alot of hits. Also get all the cobalt with str, Imbued BP is nice, non-imbued legs, and forearms. Gloves are ok, but can get better str from others.  Myself I have almost 3 sets of armor, Grouping, Soloing, and raiding.  with spares I also carry around for resists.<div></div>
