Advice needed

Hi, got a 54 Ranger looking to upgrade his Shortsword of the Ykesha and Serrated Bone Dirk. I bought a fabled shield the other day which I can use at 55 (Aegis of the something or other...the cheap one on brokers). I was wondering which was the best way to go...one handed with fabled shield or dual wield? Any suggestions from some old hands? Got a couple of cobalt clusters I can use. I'd prefer to make a one handed weapon and an armour piece but I'm not a stat guru so unsure as to best combo to use. I got imbued cobalt chest and leggings but rest is handcrafted/treasured. <div></div>

<P>ok 55+ u will mostly use your bow.. so assuming u have an ironwood bow (i prefer longbow) ill get started:</P> <P>Get rid of both- they are embarrassingly bad at 54 for damage and stats.</P> <P>Get a chest (bp) and imbue it for 1 cobalt and get atleast 1 sword if u solo a lot</P> <P>Get 2 swords (duel wield) if you grp a lot</P> <P>Dont bother with a shield imo, they are useful when you use Stream of Arrows (lvl 55) only.... for when you are tanking and using Stream.</P> <P>Certainly dont bother getting a 1 handed weapon unless u like wasting cobalt or rich.</P> <P>Use the PGT heritage (polished granite tomahawk) for when in grps or raids and use your bow a lot. Otherwise u 2x duel wield cobalt and loot fabled later (e.g. blade of centre is superior as are many other fabled T6 duel wields and offers around 20str and 15agi and approximately double the damage rating and has a nice 300ish dd).</P> <P>- 60 Ranja - 56 Pally - 30 Conj</P>

Thanks for the replies. I've got an imbued ironwood bow already but I do about 50/50 solo/grped so I'd like a decent melee setup. You reckon the PGT is still useful even now? Its hung on my wall at the moment. <div></div>

Its hung on my wall at the moment. <BR><BR><BR><BR><BR> <BR> <HR> </BLOCKQUOTE><BR>At 59, (39% from lvl 60 as I write this) I use an imbued cobalt sai in my primary and PGT in my secondary.  Allot of people have asked me why I am not using two cobalts, and for me the answer is simple.  PGT procs (for me at least) all the time.  Bow shots and in the odd occasion where I have to melee.  The proc on the weapon is the primary reason I use it.  Even though the weapon is "grey" it is still a very very usefull tool in our arsonal.  If you are going to be doing melee allot, you might want to look into a second cobalt weapon, but, even then, with thorny trap and a decent stun poison, I have found I hardly ever melee even when solo.  Just my 2 cp, but, I think most will agree.  :smileywink:
