What a game! I'm only able to play on average 2-3 hours a day, and I was curious what sort of rate of progress I should expect. How many weeks/months will it take my character to reach level 30? level 60? Just wanted a little perspective from fellow rangers. Thanks for your time!

Welcome to Norrath

It'll depend not only on the amount of time you spend playing, but what you do with that time. If you make your adventure level your sole focus and you grind / quest like mad every time you log in, you could probably get to 60 in three months.

Personally, I started in January and I'm 59 now, playing fairly regularly. But I don't grind much, I play a lot of alts, and I don't push myself to level. I've turned off combat XP several times (once for about six weeks straight) just to smell the roses and keep myself from levelling too far beyond my friends.

That said, 30 will come in no time. The early levels go fast, you can break 20 in a weekend if you want. Getting to 30 should be a matter of maybe 2-4 weeks, depending on your approach. Good luck.

To 60? Fastest i'd say is 2-3 weeks hardcore with almost unlimited cash and friends helping. 12+ hours s day grinding...

But please take your time unless you belong to a raiding guild- cos it get very dark and lonely at 60!!

It really depends on your play style. Are you out to quest and see what all the game has to offer, or do you plan to xp grind? Level/time really depends on what you want out of the game.

I personally took my time, I despise grinding (unless it's crafting - and that's basically all that tradeskilling is anyway, lol - 1 2 3 1 3 2 1 2 3, heheheh).

Anyways, lower levels go through levels alot faster than higher levels, so you will definitely hit 30 (time-wise) a LOT faster than you will go from 30-60.

This might give you some kind of an idea as to how fast you can level. I took 3 months off, but, this will show you using dates how long it has taken me to get to 56. I am not really a major grinding type, and was lucky enough to fall into a really great guild that has helped me level. If you cannot see it, let me know and I will copy and paste it.Taubin's Level History

Here is how it went for me just to give you and idea.

http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/pplayer_levels.vm?characterId=120581108

I started out pretty slow I think duoing with my RL friend at the time who played a Guardian. I have my periods of rise and fall, but I mainly started the speedy leveling once I got into my guild and made a steady group of friends. Once in a good guild I think most people see faster lvling from a more steady stream of groups. I think I lvl'd a little faster than your average guy mainly because I'm part of a raiding guild, well and because there for a bit from like 55 to 60 I couldn't run out of vitality lol from where SOE goofed it trying to change it.

Message Edited by Gailstryder on 01-01-2006 03:42 AM

You'll move along at a good pace if you're consistent in your 2-3 hours. Like many said, if you grind, grind, grind every hour you're on you'll level pretty quick. Personally, don't worry about leveling...quest, make friends, goof off...it's a game, no point in treating it like work. And welcome to the ranger community, one of the most helpful in the game!

Good on ya frobus

Yes if you play 2-3 hours a day you will progress fast enough to know your class if you dont grind. Or you can chainkill same mobs over and over for 3 hours a day and get a lot more lvl's. I doubt you will find that fun though since when you hit top lvl your only choises will be, make a alt, help friends at lower lvl's with quests or raid.
