<DIV>Sorry for the newbo question, but need some help on this.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have been searching for the best poison to use for my ranger and have come to wildly different conclusion using number crunching. For soloing it is pretty easy for me to know what poison I am going to use (for my play style that is), but for grouping it is a different story. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I was hoping that other RANGERS in the community might help me out with this...Here is my question: Is it better, when grouping, to use a high DD and low DOT poison or a more balanced moderate DD and moderate DOT. I do not have a problem having with poison proc'ing and by crunching my numbers I have found (at least on tier 3 poison) that the v. large DD and low DOT vs. the moderate DD and moderate DD only have a 4 pts damage difference over 3 procs (not sure if I can get to 3 procs without poison rehitting to be honest)....</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Given that (and I could be way off)....would it be better for agro purposes to use the more moderate poison?</DIV>

<P>I use the very-high DD poison. Based on my experimenting, I have found that my poisons always proc again before the DOT wears off. It would be interesting to know if the DOT's stack. Does anyone know whether the DOT stacks for the full duration when you proc the poison multiple times? I'm pretty sure it didn't prior to LU16, but I haven't tested it since.</P> <P> </P>

High DD poison FTW. The poison procs do not stack, and you willl proc a lot... so best bet would be to get most damage upfront. In my experience, mobs die too quickly in groups. You may have to adjust your play style a little if you don't regularly use deaggros. But, other than that, not a whole lot of difference in play style for me. YMMV

An analysis I did several months ago showed that poisons of a given rarity and tier are balanced to do the same overall damage after one tick. So if, on average, your poison is lasting longer than that, you're better off with a heavy-DoT poison, but if they're not lasting that long, you're better off with a heavy-DD. As rangers, we're prone to get lots of back-to-back poison procs, so they're constantly overwriting each other. As such, I think heavy-DD is best for us. For other scouts, though, heavy-DoTs might make more sense. (In looking at the math again just now, I'm seeing some wierdness that warrents further examination. Watch for my report coming soon!) <div></div>
<P>Man, it's good to have you back, Shader. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> </P> <P>That said, I'm a high-DD ranger all the way. Whatever the tier or rarity, I always go for the high DD stuff. Only time I'd opt for high DOT is if I were solo kiting big heroics or something, and I never bother doing that. </P>
