I started playing Everquest 2 a few days ago and I'm about to complete my adventurer quests and become a level 10 Ranger. Some questions I have regarding guilds and the ranger class: At what level should I start looking into joining a guild? What guilds do you recommend for the Ranger class? Exactly how does a guild effect gameplay? Thanks for all the info/insight!

1) You should start looking to join a guild whenever you wish, no specific level. A guild can be extremely helpful if you have questions or need help, so personally I would have been looking for a good guild from day one.

2) The only thing I can say on recommendation is finding a guild with at least a few of your class so if you have class specific questions you will be able to find help in that department. Scouts in general seem to be the least chosen class to be played in the game and as I have seen some guilds have few to none.

3) I believe guilds improve game play for the reasons I stated in answer #1.

I hope these were the answers you were looking for.

What you need to understand about guilds is that by saying guild, we don't mean joining a guild of rangers. A guild is a group of individuals of like, or sometimes not so like mindedess, who band together to accomplish things otherwise impossible. A good guildis a guild of balance, and skill, and more often then not, a great leader. I would start looking for a guild when you grow tired of looking constantly for pickup groups to get things done you need to accomplish. When you find some people you enjoy spending the majority of your time online with. When you find something you want in a guild already there. Each server is unique in its guilds, so we can't say to you "Join this one" because its on our server. Finding a guild is something you need to try for. But being only level 10, don't worry about finding the right guild, find a place to get the right feel to help you better learn the grouping system and to further your own skills.

Edited for dyslexia.
Message Edited by The_Wind on 12-21-2005 07:38 PM
You should start thinking of either A: Join a guild when you find friends that allready in one and you want to play more with them. Or B: Start a guild when you with friends thats not guilded and want a way to work together with them.

One thing to add as well, and this was touched on briefly, the first guild you join may not (and probably will not) be the only guild you are in until you stop playing. I myself at level 55 am on my third guild. I am not saying this to discourage in any way, I enjoyed all the guilds I have been in, but, as I grew, I kinda grew out of my former guilds. Another thing to think about is your play style, do you want a guild of tight-knit people, or one with alot of people in it? Something that will come up for you a little bit later also is wether or not you want a "raiding" guild. My current is a raiding guild and I love it. Some people hate it. As was posted before, you might want to look into a guild that has a few rangers in it so you can ask questions. I have found the rangers to be some of the most helpfull people in the game. And, on one final (somewhat off topic) note, check out the ranger channel. It's all ranger all the time. It's a great place to get info on allot of things. Just type /join Butcherblock.WorldRanger There are allot of really great people on there, that help out allot. I have learned a ton from them and still ask questions every day. Enjoy the path of the Ranger and may your arrows fly straight :smileyhappy:

All my guildys have rolled baby Rangers lately and I've made them all shiny new armor. Someone in our guild makes us poisens. Two better reasons for joining a guild I cannot imagine!!

By the way, while it's possible to join a guild from the oposite city, I don't recommend it. It's a complete pain when you need to meet with guildmates, exchange items, etc. The mail system won't let you send items to people from the other city, and sneaking through Freeport to get to your guild hall gets boring after a little while.

As someone who's from a small guild, what on earth is a guild hall? And you have a guid bank for transfering things across the good/evil devide. But join one. It's nice to always have someone online to chat to (although we Rangers have the worldwide Ranger channel which is just as good )
