Well I reading this morning, trying to get some info i todays patch. I hope I am misreading this but it sounds like the Nerf bomb finally fell upon us:

*** Gameplay ***

- Ungrouped players are now chosen first to be kicked out of an instance that has raid size limits.
- Coercers can now duel with a charmed pet.
- Poisons (as well as other applied effects that have a chance to proc on a successful attack) now only trigger upon successful attacks made with the weapon in the primary hand. Note: Weapons with an inherent damage proc (like all crafted imbued weapons) are unaffected and will continue to proc regardless of which hand they are equipped in.
- NPC movement speeds have been increased proportionate to Live Update #17's player run speed increase.

Now I read that as the poisons will no longer proc off our bow....please tell me I am wrong about this. Now I got this off the thread for Test Update Notes and hopefull it wont make it to todays patch.

If this doeas go live, it will be a major combat stratagy change for Rangers accross Norath.

Happy hunting

Bodee
37 Ranger, AB
Lost Soldiers of Darkness

Message Edited by juvondy on 12-20-2005 12:54 PM

As far as I know, this will not affect us (unless you are going into melee mode). Poisons will still proc off of our bows.

they will still proc off the bow, there was a lot of fear about the details of this, but the people on test were quick to stamp out the flames and note that our poisons still proc off bows!
I'm really surprised that so many people read this as 'poison will not work off your bow.' I never even considered it as a possibility.

I read it that way because the way it is written "...now only trigger upon successful attacks made with the weapon in the primary hand...".

I am gatherig that the Bow is also concidered primary hand. I alway thought it was ranged as per the name of the slot it goes in. In retrospect, it makes perfect sence because when in use the bow it is actually in your primary hand.

Thanks again all for the response.

Bodee

PS. I read the YES!! thread where it is confirmed to proc off bow post LU18

PS2. I feel like a newb....just noticed I misspelled Poisons in the subject line....doh :smileytongue:

Message Edited by juvondy on 12-20-2005 12:54 PM
Yeah, it's written poorly, and there's been people questioning this for over a week now - since it showed up on the Test server notes. I just dismissed that interpretation b/c that would be so ludicrous, but the fact that so many people got so alarmed over it shows that it seemed plausible to more than a few. I guess that since it says 'primary hand' and not anything about inventory slots, I never exempted bows and any other ranged or two-handed weapons.

" As far as I know, this will not affect us (unless you are going into melee mode)." And well... it sure does affect close combat noticeably. I play a ranger+warden on two computers, wich means my ranger Meemi is constantly ending up in close combat. I see far less poisonings happening and the big mean orcs we were hunting (level 54 heroics in Clefts) before the change die way slower. Poisons are quite a big part of ranger damage, so this change really sucks at close range. :smileysad: Guess rangers arent clever enough to poison both weapons anymore hmm... stupid stupid. Meemi used to Rock when using legendary poisons and two fast weapons. Oh well... we can still handle what we used to do, just a bit slower.

I, personally, think this is a good thing. OK, are DPS drops, but so does our costs. I really can't afford to pay 12+gp for a poison every hour, especially when I'm not winning any drops...
