How do Legendary class arrows effect dmg of the bows? FOr instance on Oasis, there are a TON of Ebon arrows for sale, just curious if its really worth teh 20sp each they are asking, or if its more that you need legendary class arrows to hit mobs immine to less quality of dmg?

I havent actually tested but my instinct says they might do more dmg than the common arrows from the same tier. Also, some mobs require you to have legendary weapons to hit em, dunno if they count our bow as that weapon or do we need to use legendary arrows against those mobs. I vote for the former, but im not sure... *sniff* ++Xan

"Worth it" is generally subjective.... i.e. each ranger may feel differently. Personally I don't think 20sp per arrow is worth it unless they do a ton of dmg, and even then it'd only be on autoattack. I might buy some to use for raids or other situations where I knew I wasn't going to switch to melee, but otherwise... meh to that.

/agreeI had some ebons for my 40-50 when I raided a bit.

I have a bunch of cobalt ingots in my bank. I'm debating if the cost of fuel to turn them into arrows (I'm a WW) is even worth it really.

Ever seen a follow up autoattack hit after using a CA for 2k with indium arrows?

So they DO hit for nice dmg then? 1k difference in 7s time period = 143dps MORE Thenagain, not gonna pay 20s / arrow even for that ++Xan

20sp is really expensive in my opinion for ebon arrows - i was charging 6-10sp each for them when i made them on my WW ( i pretty much only made them for xp ) - tier 6 arrows - i have a few raiding rangers that get me to make them slashing arrows and crushing arrows - and i charge 20sp each (that's for indium) i wish arrows weren't such a royal pain to make and didn't take so many combines - they'd be more attractive and cheaper for people to buy.

I started a woodworker too and like stormykat I saw it as useless to make 25 arrows per 6 combines.

Really! hope soe thinks it through and make it 100 arrows per 6 combines instead it would be workable, or a endless quiver.

Doesnt have to be a fancy endless quiver just one arrow (indium, cobalt, ebon or whatever) lasting without end.

But for now im buying Indium piercing arrows and Fulganite hunting arrows in NQ and elldarr grove to use on bossess. On trash mobs im not so picky and just use my summoned fulganite.

We kill EpicX4 mobs every day. I find it's much safer and easier for me to control the damage I'm doing with junk arrows. Arrow type has no affect on CA damage. If I fire a powerful CA and everything procs I may want to pause for 2-5 seconds before I hit the mob again. Nothing's more terrifying that watching everything proc at one time on a powerful CA and thinking "OMG here comes the aggro, maybe if I stop attacking...." then a split second later auto attack fires and everything procs again YIKES!!! I don't want to have to toggle ranged attack off after every CA... battles are busy enough already.

And if you're wondering if those junk arrows hit certain mobs, our guild downed terrorantula last night. It didn't resist ANY of my spells, and I was using the cheapest iron arrows that are like 3c each from the npc vendor in Starcrest.

I always carry a stack of rounded tip crushing arrows just in case I need them, but haven't had to equip them so far. Even on mobs that are supposedly slash and pierce resist, when melee classes are breaking out their spoons from Cazel (does crushing)... I'm still hitting the mobs with most of my CA's... and still pulling aggro if I'm not careful.

There are some occassions when it's my job to generate hate, like when a Pali's tanking and I have his Amends... and I've thought about using tier6 arrows to maximize my damage but... even with cheap arrows and no poison running, I can pull aggro from that palidan if I get crazy (ie all the big hitters, and stream).

I dont' know, some people swear by good arrows. I say, whatever works for you.

EDIT: When we start doing Poets Return, and similar zones, and going after those 68+ epics... it will be interesting to see if my CA's hit. I may have to resort to autoattacking myself.. we'll see soon enough =) Need to get some gear that gives like +1 or +2 to ranged, piercing, etc.

Jay42, what do you think?

Message Edited by GrayStorm on 12-14-2005 10:24 AM

The more fabled gear I get, the larger my power pool becomes, and nowadays I don't seem to run out of power. Having a mana regen class in your group sure helps a lot also hehe. Even on some of the ridiculously long battles where you start killing placeholders and the fight never stops until the named pops and is dead... if you're burning through mana fast enough to run out, then maybe you don't have enough dps in your raid.

And you're correct about your level in Poets. Once you get to 60 the Creature of Beauty is the only one I've still had trouble with on occassion. Although lately, again maybe it's all the new gear I've been getting and the boosted stats, or the people I'm grouped with that debuff her, but lately I've been tearing her up as well.
