View Full Version : Too many Rangers? No? Then try buying Adepts on Runnyeye

None there. At all. Zero. Hit 40 then 41 and finally headed back to town last night to get my CAs up to Adp. None there, on market or fence. Couldn't find anyone on LFW who would make then either. Was one Jeweler on LFW and he said he wouldn't make lvl 40 spells. So, are there too many Rangers buying them or too few jewelers making them? Even if the answer was too few jewelers there should be dropped AdpI's or masters, but for hidden shot there was exactly nothing!

I'm on Runnyeye too. I'm now level 56 and still I cannot get hold of Thorny trap - a level 50 CA. I keep on looking in the hope that one day, I might get one, but I'm not holdng my breath! It's very very frustrating!!

ok, now I'm in a bind. Got my mage to level 17-18 on her way to becoming an alchemist. Does this mean I have to make her a Jeweler instead and then power level her all the way to 40? Wont get my CA untli after Christmas if I do that!!

Crushbone and 50+ Adept CA's for Rangers is plenty. Recently placed a few 40-50 Ranger Adept 1's for sale and yes they did sell fast.

Cant remember how it was in my time (yeah I'm that old), but I know I didnt have many problems, they either dropped, or I had them already from friends that gave them to me... or maybe because I moved from 40 to 50 so fast I didnt even have time to check the broker :smileytongue:

I think what it is, is the frequency of ranger skills to drop vs all the others is quite low. On Lucan there are plenty of ad1's and masters up, but most of them are for the lower tiers, level 50 and below. I have yet to see a 50+ master drop, or even one ON the broker for that matter. Its rather disheartening.

I think also, and a few random /who commands in the zones you're hunting in will confirm or deny, that there are just generally fewer players hunting in the T1 -> T5 zones these days.

I am working through my armor Quests and making levels pretty quickly. Upper 20's on the Nektulos Server is almost non-existant also. We do have an over abundance of Pounce and Back Shot though. The ones that are there are expensive too. Level 19-22 Adepts are averaging 3-8 gp per CA. Doing some research on the same levels -Coercers and Defilers are around 1gp if that for mid to high 20's.

I hope someone finds a treasure trove soon. I need to upgrade- App 2 do not cut it. Let me know the mob too. I'll go do some hunting myself.:smileywink:

well, all my guildies and mates keep an eye out, and I'm pretty much always in a group hitting Runnyeye nameds/quest mobs lately and I've not seen a single Ranger drop in 42 levels. Friend got one for me once and that's it. In fact, was in Runnyeye all yesterday (yes, it was boring) and pretty much all the drops seem to be for bruisers and assassins. As well as none for me didn't see a single mage spell drop (although some mage armor).

The trend I've been seeing is t1 and t2 adepts drop in the natural areas for the classes, as there are only 4-8 classes at that point, so its basics for them. When you get into lvl20+ Adepts, look to the evil sides for good class adepts and to good sides for evil from what i've seen. Guessing they do it this way to make brokers work little better for controling the economy between cities to a point. Though on Oasis server, the freeport side of the economy is WAY cheaper for most adepts, masters and weapons and armor, where qeynos is better for jewelry, adept3, and food/drink. SOrta odd but guess just how it pans out hehe. Anyhow, Nek forest mobs tend to drop more Ranger CA's for the 20-29 range, and Zek seems to drop more ranger CA's then EL for the 30-39 range. 40-50 range is pretty even it seems with perma winning out for rangers a bit over feerrott and lavastorm. But Sol Eye tends to drop decent ranger CA"s also. Also the Adepts are seeming to drop from odd type mobs. Like In Antonica i got a ranger adept for survival instinct off a Squire near stormhold, one of the solo mobs. In TS i was getting monk, guardian and troub CA's from the gnoll hunters and scouts, and got one assassin ca from a griff. Picked up Shadow Lunge off a Dragoon in Nek, and got Wounding Arrow, off a Gulthex Mystic near N'Marr's. On my main I picked up a couple ranger CA's for the 40's from the named Wyrm, Broodmother, in Perma, and picked up a Ranger mater in Varsoon and some legendary armor in varsoon from named there while mentoring a guildy. Those was nice finds for level 30 range items also i might add. SO in turn look to more evil areas for ranger drops, and try killing tank and caster mobs to get them. Seems those class mobs drop the scout line of CA's more often then scout mobs or priests. but thats just my observation. Hope this info helps.

Have to admit I went Ranger/Jeweller initially to help with self sufficiency.

I'm not sure if things have changed with drops but my original was a shadow knight/weaponsmith and when playing with them I bought or found almost every adept 1 up to 50th level cheaply (pre DoF). It was a massive space commitment so I was quite happy when I finally started my ranger. What I have noticed is that since I started playing my ranger (40th level as of Sunday) I have never had a ranger drop!! I have however upgraded at least 50% of my ca's to ma 1 or ad 3 (the merits of having a variety of tradeskillers from 47-60th and a loyal clientelle) and just sold off the ad 1's (for example to celebrate hitting 40th I made an ad 3 of all three ca's i got then). They have all disappeared incredibly fast despite the fact that I'm not undercutting and just setting what I think is a reasonable price (ok no where near the prices mentioned above!) so perhaps there is now a problem with ranger drops or its just that everyone wants to be one of us. :smileywink:

Incidentally, if you tend to hunt solo as I do rather than power level I really don't see the point of trying to run on app 2's or 4's as you will be substandard for a long long time. I wouldn't even have the balls to go in a group using that crap because I'd just be cheating them and hate being stuck with people who blatantly are sub standard/gimped. Maybe I go to the extreme in the other direction but when I log on I get bombarded with tells on both my ranger and sk inviting me to group or raid - I just by preference like to solo and keep all the loot to myself so accept all the quest orientated groups and mostly reject the xp ones. :smileywink:

I've never set out to power level - don't see the point. The only reason I group so much lately is on the million to one chance I'll get a Ranger drop, As to cheating the group, almost all my CAs are Adp or Master appart from the ones I got at 40 and 41. Up until then I was finding most of them stupidly cheap on the broker. After 40 there is very little or nothing! What are jewelers doing with their time? Have they never heard of suply Vs demand? If I was a Jeweler I'd phone in sick to work for a few days and make hundreds of the little buggers. Even App IV is better than nothing, and they could make a decent profit as their is no competition. Actualy, maybe we should link this on the Jewelers page?

Your server must have an excess amount of ranger twinks, b/c I've never had that much problem finding Adepts on the broker and I've seen a few drop in groups I was in. Sorry, hope it improves soon tho.

Thanks RoninDF. The reasoning makes sense to me. I pulled a ton of Adepts for Defilers, Coecerers, and Brigands (including on lvl 20's Coecerer Master) while hunting in Stormhold which is right outside of Q. Which struck me as odd since that is several zones from Freeport.

But I was considering hunting in EL since I have seen some decent Ranger Armor and Weapons drops but if Zek is seeing more Ranger CA's I might wander over to pay a visit to my Orcish friends give them a little pokey. I am working on PTG so it might be a bit but I will let you know what I find.

Hey guys I was actually spending my time xping with a guy that was lvl 28 to my 24 and he was camping lord andros in SH. While I was getting great xp we were switching off and each taking a master when they dropped. I got 2 wounding arrow master 1's from there...so if you're looking for scrolls you should be able to find that fairly easily.

Pulled a sicky yesterday and popped online to do some relaxing crafting. Invite came to go to CT and who am I to say no 8 hours and 2 levels later (Sic xp in there) and I FINALLY got a Ranger drop - now have Longshank waiting for me when I hit 47 (I think). But that was it. Rest of the drops were for - just for a change - assassins. Highly recomend taking a group there if you are around my level. Just getting there alive is fun, and staying alive while there is a great laugh! :smileyvery-happy: Quite a few hunting quests there too for some coin. btw, is permafrost bugged? We were there for over an hour without a single drop...

I popped over here from the dirge and jeweler boards to study the market, and would add a couple of comments:

-There seem to be many more rangers than swashies, troubs, and dirges. This, for me, is reflected not only in who I run into grouping but also in my sales; ranger spells go far faster than other scout stuff. If the adepts drop randomly, ranger stuff will get bought out / used up waaay faster than the others.

-For jewelers, making and selling runes is problematic. Even for ranger runes, they tend to sit in the vault a long time compared with jewelry items. Adept 1s compete with App 4s, it's hard to do the research to know what adepts do and don't drop, and sometimes even if you find something without adepts, the $%^ed app4 sits and rots in the vault (I've got several like that). So much so, that for my T5 crafting, even though I've made the reagents, I'm not making any app4s beyond my own, I'm holding on to the intermediates, waiting to get orders for Ad3s.

-That being said, I, personally, would whip up an app4 for anyone who asked me to, from T3 to T5, because I hate to see anything go to waste and because a gold in the pocket is worth two on the broker. If they were rude, I'd charge 10g, if they were polite and accomodating I'd charge 5, and if they were sweet and witty I'd charge 3.

So approach a few jewelers if you need upgrades. Considering how much people will pay to upgrade, say, a helm from common to rare and get maybe 4 attribute points and 30 mitigation, all of which together might improve your overall firepower perhaps 0.5%, it's silly to walk around with un-upgraded spells. Heck, talk with one of us ahead of time, get a whole tier's worth, get a quantity discount, stash 'em in your locker and pull 'em out when you hit 80%, scribe when you ding, and continue without a pause -- while your groupmates look on in admiration.

Whysprr

Whysprr Wyrdwynd (born during a severe vowel shortage)

Brethren (And what about the sistren, may I just ask?)

Qeynos (but not ridiculous about it)

Dirge ('A group without a dirge is like a day without drizzle') and Jeweler (gotta support my imbued jewelry habit somehow)

Some level or other (who knows when you're reading this)

Neriak server

Hmm I'm a 60 Jeweler. On my way to 60 I would try to keep Ranger app. 4s on the market (if there weren't alot of adepts for a certain spell to be found). Basically, I catered to Rangers..it's what I know. However, when I hit 60 all of that changed. All of a sudden I had (and still do have) so many mail orders and tells requesting service, that I just don't have time for making extra stuff to put on the market. I actually had to learn how to say, 'I dont' have time right now, send me mail and I'll make it tomorrow' , if not for that then I would seriously never have time to adventure. I mean this literally, I sat at lvl 55 for almost a month because I could not get away from Wayfarer's long enough to go play. I probably sound like I'm whining. I'm really not...though it was frustrating.

I don't know if it's like that for other jewelers...but there seems to be a shortage of Jewelers on Lavastorm.

I'm rambling a little bit. (early in the am, here)

My advice to you guys is to befriend a Jeweler. For my close friends, I only charge the price of fuel, for other people it's usually a 5 gold mark up (for my time), and for people that get on my nerves... <evil laugh> ...

I also advise cozing up to an alchemist for your poison needs..that way you can, perhaps, avoid the insane mark up on poison prices.
