Hello all!I've been toying with the idea of starting a Scout type character, but am unsure which route to take. I don't know if this the best place to stick this thread but whatever. Basically, I've always played tanks. I was a tank in EQ1, then a monk (for a long time), then a tank in WoW, and blah blah blah. Consequenly, going the DPS route seems a little foreign to me.I'd like to start a Scout,but i'm torn. Should I start a Ranger, or a Rogue (probably a Brigand)? I am leaning on Ranger, but are they paper thin? Is the game to lay down the smack without getting touched by the target? If the target get's a hit in, do Rangers go down in a hurry? Does soloing basically entail running back and forth playing the old EQ1-Druid game or can you engage the monster a little?Would you recomend a Brigand or a Ranger based on this brief info?Thanks!Senn
Message Edited by SennSei on 12-09-2005 10:13 PM

Brigand tanks better, but ranger kills quicker. Both have a variety of pretty cool abilities.

Soloing, the brigand might come off a shade better because of the better tanking and the fact that many of the ranger's most powerful abilities are ranged. Grouping, brigands are good with offtanking, dps, and debuffs--but rangers really shine as damage dealers par excellence.

Message Edited by Tarryn on 12-09-2005 10:40 PM

I'd suggest brigand for you maybe. If you've played a tank, the role of a ranger might not necessarily suit to your playstyle as well as brigands. They are much more melee oriented vs. the ranged attack oriented rangers. We rely on our ability to do big dmg and fast. Usually if the mob gets to melee too early, that means some trouble (depends on mob of course, but anyway...)

But, you'll really have to test them out yourselves of course. Noone else knows what you really like! :smileyvery-happy:

(and in this game, getting to eg. lvl 30 to see what the class really feels doesnt take that much time)

++Xan
